While I can't post about what it's like to go to college at UT (Austin), I can post about experiences I've had. The school which was founded in 1883 is recognized as a top college in the country. It often falls under the category of "the new Ivy League". I have been on campus for everything from protests, the annual Longhorn run, college & alumni-affiliated events, strolling the campus, and a few other things. It has always been a wonderful experience. Faculty, staff, and students alike all boasting their Longhorn pride. Hook 'Em Horns!!! What an extraordinarily beautiful campus for strolling from the lush greens to incredible architecture that's also stood the test of time. Sculptures and artwork adorn the campus throughout, there's always something new to see. Sunday strolls around the campus grounds are one of my favorite things to do.

William Hicks William Hicks is a Southeast Texas-based recovery and coaching professional dedicated to structured, compassionate support for individuals and families navigating treatment and long-term recovery. His work is grounded in discretion, collaboration, and disciplined follow- through. Raised & Educated in the Texas Hill Country, North Houston and at Texas A&M University (including Texas A&M at Galveston), William grew up in a family culture centered around coaching, business leadership, and excellence. Athletics played a formative role in his development -- serving as a football team captain, training in powerlifting and track, and practicing with the Texas A&M club rugby program. These experiences shaped his respect for accountability, teamwork, and resilience. During college, William developed a deep appreciation for music culture, particularly electronic dance music and live festival communities. Exposure to diverse people and perspectives strengthened his ability to connect with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds -- an important asset when working in recovery environments. William brings both professional training and lived recovery experience to his work. Having met his wife during his own recovery journey in the Hill Country, he understands firsthand the importance of structure, support systems, and long-term commitment. Today, as a husband and father, his approach is steady, family-conscious, and responsibility-driven. He works closely with organizations, clinicians, and aftercare teams to ensure clear communication, aligned expectations, and transitions. His focus is simple: show up consistently, protect client dignity, and support long term stability. Outside of his professional work, William enjoys trail running, fly fishing, golf, yoga, studying; coaching, human geography, and spending time with his family(including maltipoo Sammy). William operates with a commitment to structure, discretion, collaboration, and disciplined execution -- principles that guide each client interaction

Our 5.5 year old went from reading single words to whole books in six months and his love for science and math was really nurtured there. Our almost two year old also flourished and has become very independent under the guidance of two incredibly loving teachers (one of which speaks Spanish with the children exclusively, so my daughter now knows almost as many Spanish words as English). There are three age groups: Infant Community (walking to 2.5), Primary (2.5-5.5), Taller (5.5-9). Each age group is in their own freestanding house with their own playground. They have a solid COVID plan, and they plan to meet all the CDC guidelines. Because of their small, isolated environment they feel they can safely offer full-time, in-person school, instead of on-line or blended learning. Julia's Garden closely follows Montessori methods, with one exception in the Taller class - each morning the elementary aged students are given four, hands-on assignments in core learning areas. Students complete this work before they may move on to other preferred activities, which I think prepares them well for transitioning into non-Montessori environments later on. Afternoons include group activities like science experiments, gardening work, tending to chickens, foreign language class, and art activities - all of which my son loved! I highly recommend this school to anyone looking for a nurturing, nature-based learning environment. I also think the academics were strong and properly individualized to each child. While at a time this school might have felt too small for some families, safety in small numbers and embracing a chance for a lower student-teacher ratio seems like the way to go!

Debbie Schatzman was all of that and more. She instantly helped us relax, took charge, and most importantly connected with our daughter right away and really inspired her. Our daughter came away from each (virtual) meeting feeling positive and excited. I've rarely seen her so self-confident. We were able to completely relax, knowing everything was in good hands. Debbie is efficient and ethical, offering custom plans and charging only for the time needed. She is supportive at every stage and truly wants the best for each student and family. So grateful both to Debbie and to Yelp for helping us find her!

She spent quality time with her asking questions and making suggestions for her to consider to narrow down her college choices. The two of them devised a plan for the summer and fall to get her where she needed to be to make a final decision. I would recommend Debbie because she values the relationship with the student and wants them to be successful at getting into the college of their choice. As a parent, she took the argument out of the process between parent and student. Thank you Debbie!
