Worst driving school experience ever. Do not waste your time or money here. Save yourself the stress and just use Aceable instead. This is now the third time they have no-showed for my son's driving lesson. I repeatedly tried calling and left messages, but no one responds and no one seems to care at all. Communication is absolutely terrible. On multiple occasions, they canceled lessons at the last minute without notifying us. We only found out after arriving -- and one time my son was literally left at the school without an instructor. When confronted, they made false excuses, claiming they had called us when they absolutely did not. There is no accountability, no professionalism, and no concern for students or parents. It feels like the owner only wants to take your money and does not care whether students actually complete the course. This place is unreliable and disorganized. I deeply regret choosing this driving school, would never recommend it to anyone, and will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Very unprofessional instructor Mohammad. My wife quit driving class after 3 class. First Day when I reached out for class for my wife. He forced us to enroll for 5 class and forced to give 5 star to my wife but she removed it and made it 1 now. Federal law violence: when I requested for receipt. He didn't respond. Someone please take action after reading this review During class, he was unprofessional yelling at her in rude way and sharing story personal unprofessional story to my pregnant wife instead of training. She was very upset after couple of class. He was very partiality with during class, he was taking video without permission of the driver and continuous talking in phone. "drivers ed" was taught by a teacher who: -showed up 10-15 minutes late every class - regularly sent kids OUTSIDE OF THE DRIVERS ED BUILDING for errands like refilling her drinks - regularly made racist comments - openly made fun of kids and parents who complained about her instruction and in addition to all of that, wasn't even teaching about driving! In a regular class, students would: -wait on their phones for the teacher to arrive (late) - listen for roughly an hour while the teacher told various stories about her life -take fill in the blank notes from a power point slide show -spend 30-45 minutes watching interviews with car crash victims read more

Signed our teen up for both classroom and driving instruction. The classroom instructor often made misogynistic comments and openly made fun of parents who complained about him. My teen often took videos of him ranting. Very little of the course was related to driving. The driving instructors seem great... if you can schedule drive time with the receptionist who refuses to answer the phone or call you back. I have had to drive into the office multiple times in order to schedule, and even then she won't actually put you down for the times you discuss. I have called the corporate office and they're no better at returning calls. Overall, awful experience. We'll be lucky if our teen gets her 7 driving sessions done in the 6 month span of her permit because scheduling is a nightmare. read more

I would love to say I'm just being paranoid, but I videotaped my whole experience there and trust me when I say this isn't an exaggeration. Personal shout out to Riley for one of the worst customer service interactions I've had in a long time. I get you are like 12 and you don't know how to interact with adults, but maybe try putting down your cell phone and not acting like a brat, it helps. Don't do it. This is a really unprofessional place. For the cost, we expected much more. The office is dirty, none of the staff appear to know what they are doing, and the instruction was laughable. The teacher for the class showed up 15 to 20 minutes late every day. She also told a lot of inappropriate stories that had little bearing on the topic at hand. Thankfully, we chose to do the classroom instruction without the driving instruction, so I can't speak to the driving piece. My two boys were the only ones in their class that were not signed up to also do the driving instruction, which apparently caused a problem with us getting the needed DE-964 form. They need this form to get their learner's permit and we didn't get it until 10 days after their last class, where as the students who were doing the driving portion got it on day 2 of class. And that was with us calling and complaining about it! No one ever apologized for the delay. I cannot recommend this place. read more

The instructors are fine but I was told to bring my daughter's results to the local DPS and that I didn't need an appointment. So I took off from work to take my daughter for her license only to be told that EVERYONE needs an appointment and the driving schools have been told this multiple times. I enrolled my son in there driving program @ round rock location 2 month ago for 7 classes . So far he did only 3 driving classes and one observation. Every time I called to setup a class they replied they don't have open slot. We will call you but they never called. My husband and my son called so many times but they always booked , they should tell us @ the time of signing that we are all booked so I would rather spent $370 some other driving school. I am so disappointed with there service . I want my son to get license ASAP but Austin driving is not cooperating. read more

I had to schedule a driving test for my daughter to get her DL. The staff here were very friendly, helpful and caring. The guy that did the testing made my daughter feel better by making a joke when they got in the car and she automatically felt less nervous. The woman was very helpful by providing the right paperwork for the dmv and making sure we had an appointment with them. This was very easy! read more

Great lessons I would say! I just paid for 4 classes being a beginner and passed my test after the lessons. Victor, my instructor is a patient, nice and a supportive person. He took keen interest in making me understand every driving skill and taught them in a smooth and understanding way. Filthy cars and office, unprofessional staff, sketchy road test. 1. INSTRUCTION: At $420 for 4 road lessons, I had certain expectations of professionalism, but the instructor showed up between 10 mins and 30 mins late for every lesson, and then tried to cut them short. I received hardly any actual instruction while driving, but did get an earful of unwanted political and social opinions. Also, the schedule is extremely limited. No drivers available for lessons in the morning, evening, on weekends, or Fridays. 2. CARS: I used three different cars for lessons and road test, all three were filthy. I'm not talking the expected dirt from shoes...I mean DIRTY. Sticky messes in cupholders, every surface grimy...just gross. All three cars had the 'Maintenance Needed' indicators lit up on the dash. Note: these cars do NOT have dual drive/steering installed. The instructor can only hit a brake on their side. Mine kept reaching over and grabbing the wheel during lessons, which was very stressful. 3. OFFICE: Total chaos. No one seemed to know what was going on. I was told to sit at a desk in front of a staff member to fill out paperwork, and as I did, she stood up, saying "I'm on a break!" and moved 3 feet away to a bench to eat her lunch, leaving me sitting there. No computer system, disgustingly filthy office (peeling paint, ripped carpets, trash on the floor, etc), unprofessional and unwelcoming staff. 4. ROAD TEST: Instructor was wearing dirty shorts, did not introduce himself to me (or even look me in the eye), just walked out to the car, leaving me to follow behind, hoping he was the right instructor. He took a personal call during my driving test, and proceeded to talk about groceries or something, while I drove around, not knowing where I was supposed to go. At the end of the test, the last task to be tested on is parallel parking. There was another student doing this as we approached (it is done in a back parking lot next to the office). After waiting a whole 30 seconds, the instructor sighed impatiently and said "you practiced this earlier, right?" and ended the test prematurely! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY! Is Austin Driving School the only place in town? This place is a certified JOKE. We payed in full over 2 weeks ago for a place on the September schedule...called on the appointed day (today) to get on the schedule and it's already full. I called 4 times today to get on the schedule and 1) was put on hold by Michelle for over 15 minutes 2) was told by Chloe that the schedule is full and to call back next month 3) was told by Jackson to check with my daughter and see if she has an "off period" and he would pick her up at school 4) was told by Jackson to call him "Coach Jackson" from now on and that he has over 1000 kids to schedule and doesn't need our money. I don't have an issue referring to people by the credentials and titles that that have earned, but what the heck has this guy done? What is he the coach of and why do I (a full grown adult person) have to call him that? He's not my coach, and his redneck attitude and lack of command of basic, rudimentary grammar was not impressive. I would not put YOUR child or MY child in a car with this "coach". I read all the reviews so I am not totally caught off guard the experience that we've had with Austin drive school. It hasn't been as terrible as some of the experiences I read but my 14 year old won't be going here for drive lessons. The reason we choose Austin drive school is because of our schedule.. During the school year just didn't work for us. This one has a rolling schedule in the summer. After reading the reviews, I called the office before signing up. The office was able to successfully answer many of my concerns. The classroom portion of their services seemed to go ok.. It met my expectations. The whole reason we choose a driving School is for the driving portion of it. This has been a nightmare. The schedule process is laxidasical at best. My daughter would schedule a drive time most of the ones available are 7am before school...you have to take your child to the location. They will drop the kids off at school before 9. If there is some kind of miscommunication and you get there and you actually don't have a drive time it can be frustrating. The next time if you call to confirm you have a drive time and the guy answering the phone says you aren't scheduled for a drive time ... And you actually do that also can be frustrating because they then charge you for missing a drive time. Both if the above and more has happened. Of the 5 drive times we've had with this company none have gone smoothly. What is more disappointing is that they don't seem to care to improve it. When I went to the office to talk and see if I could figure out their system there were 4older gentlemen in the office. They had no interest in changing. They commented well the office staff are 16 year old kids.. That's what you get. read more

I have read the past reviews and they do not speak to my experience I have had with this company. Maybe a change in office staff, the girl that helped me was very knowledgeable. She answered all my questions direct and did not have to ask for other information from anyone. Our instructor was great to work with he was very patient and explained anything needing for my daughter to work on. She passed her test and all paper work was completed quickly. For our family and our busy schedule this was a great experience. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I literally downloaded yelp just for this single review. I took only the driving test there and it was the worst experience. The place was run down and shabby. The front desk would rather answer phones than help people in the building. I was told TWICE to give them my VOE (verification of enrollment) so I did. They told me that it was in an envelope so I shouldn't worry until I got to the DMV and told that they do not put the VOE in the envelope because they don't require it. I called them to ask about and they were rude, impolite, and aggressive when I asked about it. They threw it away because they didn't need it when I handed it to them. You can't get sick while in this program, other wise they'll change you $15 extra for no showing up, even if you cancel on the day of the appointment. My son "completed" the program of 7 hrs of driving and 7 hours of observation, which by the way, they shorten him 1 hr of observation; he got 6 instead of 7. But on the day of his driving test he had a stomach bug and called in to cancel. We got charge the $65 for the test plus $15 for no show. When I called about the extra charge, their reason was that the instructor doesn't get pay if canceling on the same day. So the company keeps the $65 and charges you an extra $15 so the instructor "get paid." Does not matter the reason, that is just their rule, which by the way, wasn't mention to us when we scheduled the appointment. I know is just $15 not a lot of money for some people, but is the principal, unprofessional and flat out, is just taking advantage of the situation. read more

If negative stars were possible, I would give them. Most unprofessional, sham of driving instruction available. Save your money, your time and your state of mind by going elsewhere or doing the parent taught through DPS. Have shown up multiple scheduled times for driving for my children only to either not have them on the books or the instructor was not there. One time, the previous student had driven into a ditch and there was no car available! Scary - but would not refund our money when we told them we were no longer comfortable with our children being in their cars. Also said we had not paid, when we had. Every person in the office has a different answer for questions and nobody communicates with the other. There is one good instructor, but the office staff is obnoxious, rude and condescending. The icing on the cake was not providing my daughter her certificate after she passed the class because of an "outstanding balance". That balance had been paid 15 months earlier. I am VERY concerned about an experience my son had during a behind the wheel lesson with an instructor last week, and even more concerned with the lack of response from the owner. My son came home and told me he was very uncomfortable during the lesson because the female instructor rolled down the window and yelled at an African-American boy walking on the sidewalk whose pants were reportedly "sagging". She then reportedly began cursing and making racist comments inside the vehicle. This discourse then reportedly led to her starting a political rant in which she referenced Trump and her being opposed to abortions and the "murdering of fetuses". I called up to the Round Rock location and asked to speak to the manager. Regardless of her opinions, her job is to teach students to drive and ensure they are focused on the task at hand. It was very concerning that her language was so charged and interfered with my son's ability to just focus on driving the vehicle safely. The manager called me back and before I even had a chance to explain the story, he said, "Let me guess....she started talking politics and abortion". He admitted she has been reprimand multiple times for this behavior, but that the owner refused to fire her unless he will take over teaching the class she currently teaches. I called Dawn, the owner, and left 4 messages explaining I wanted to discuss an incident with her that had safety implications for their students. She never returned my call. The 5th time I called, which was today, I was told she was busy and had deadlines to meet. I explained that I had left several messages and it was a serious situation that she needed to be informed of. She chose not to come to the phone. I am shocked that this type of situation has apparently occurred multiple times without any true concern for the safety of the students in the vehicle, as well as how their being distracted could jeopardize safety of others on the road. Clearly the owner is more concerned with convenience that safety. I think it is a matter of time before something tragic happens. I highly encourage parents to consider going elsewhere! read more

I'm not a review writer- this is the first time I've ever been super compelled to give one, so take it to heart!! My daughter was scheduled for a driving test today at another establishment, and the customer service was awful. Each time my daughter called, she got a different story on what to bring for her test, all contradicting what DPS instructed, and they charge nearly twice as other schools. I called them a dozen times during their posted business hours to get to the bottom of the matter and received voice mail. In a final attempt to get ahold of "Driving School X" before our test, I mistakenly grabbed an e-mail address for a totally different company- Austin Driving School. My e-mail was answered super promptly by Monica (before they even technically opened for business), and with concise, simple and polite answers. I immediately picked up the phone to see if we could squeeze in with them (again, before their office technically opened) and was routed directly to the examiner, Mr. Johnson, who wasn't at his desk but promised to call back in 30 minutes. About 5 minutes later, he called back to inform me that he was pretty well booked, but another examiner could test my daughter this afternoon! Turns out, they've received several calls from unhappy "Driving School X" customers this week...I'm SO glad I wrote the wrong company! The service we've received is head and shoulders above ALL the others (we shopped around, but somehow did not try Austin Driving School during our shop) and earns every one of the five stars I gave. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Know that they have multiple locations; I dealt with their Manchaca and Round Rock offices today- both were exceptional! read more
