And in my opinion, it's better than any pill that can be prescribed. I was nervous about receiving ketamine but my severe depression was beginning to take a toll on my entire life. The team was amazing! Every question was answered. Every concern was addressed. This review has taken me quite some time to get to. Only because the incredible work that AKC does, warrants proper reflection and consideration! From the very moment you begin your time with the AKC staff, you know right away that you are in the hands of the most compassionate, knowledgable and professional staff around. I really appreciate how caring the team is at AKC. I was reluctant to try ketamine therapy for my depression but I'm so glad that I finally did. It has helped me enormously. I was uninitiated and skeptical when I arrived. I didn't get it at first, I was a little lost but I kept going. I know this is extremely long but I feel like I need to be thorough. Shortly after the start of the pandemic, I began having issues with anxiety. I'd never experienced it before in my 35 years of life and it was debilitating. I was already struggling with depression pre-pandemic but that worsened as time went on as well. I have a great therapist who helped me figure out ways to cope as best I could and a psych who tried her damndest to come up with the right drug combinations and dosages to mitigate the symptoms. Meds helped with the anxiety but the depression was untouchable. I had no emotions, no joy, no drive, no desire for anything. It was affecting my job, my marriage, my relationship with my son, everything. I had only ever heard of Ketamine therapy very briefly from my mother, warning me to never do it because it was dangerous. It didn't cross my mind again until March of 2022 when I met a couples therapist who had worked with other patients in similar situations. She recommended I look into it so I did. After learning more about it, I decided to give it a shot. I knew it would be a significant financial investment but was desperate. I told myself if this didn't work, I'd just have to work on accepting feeling the way I did forever. I underwent 8 sessions over a course of 4 weeks (two more than is typical which was my choice). For the first few weeks, I didn't see much of a difference. I had read some people felt things shift after even just a couple of sessions but I tried to not get discouraged. I started to get hints of change in daily activities but nothing that truly stuck out. Nine days after completing the first round of sessions, my husband and I traveled to Europe. I had been stressing about the trip for months, worrying that it would be wasted on me and that it would only be a source of stress. After about 4 days into the trip, I started to relax and my anxiety lessened. I was actually enjoying myself and looking forward to the things we had spent months planning. The trip ended up being one of the best experiences of my life. I actually sent a postcard to the Austin Ketamine Clinic team from Santorini, Greece to thank them for giving me the ability to experience joy again. In the months since returning, my depression and anxiety have lifted entirely. I feel like me again. I've dropped all but one psych med which is at a very low dose for me. I'm not out running marathons or anything but I have more (any!) motivation, am playing and interacting with my son more, struggling less with close relationships, finding more satisfaction in my job, and enjoying the things I used to. I'm not going to lie and say it isn't a significant investment and it is something you have to maintain over time. It's not a magical permanent fix, you have to keep up with treatments just like with any other medication, though sessions are spread much farther apart after your initial group. Truthfully, it's one of if not THE best decisions I've ever made in my life and I'm very blessed to be able to have the ability to obtain the treatments. The AKC team is wonderful. Lisa and Jon have built an amazing place of healing. I love literally everyone there but Lalo, especially is a doll. They are all so friendly, easy to talk to, and genuine. They really do care about your well being and root for you. I look forward to seeing them every time I go in. They're an integral part of my psychological well-being. Jon and Lisa are great! They are passionate about the work they do, and seem to genuinely care about helping me and their other patients. They are very well qualified to administer Ketamine treatment. We talk for +/- 15 minutes both before and after my infusions, longer sometimes. I have yet to feel as if they are rushing me out the door. They don't seem bothered by my many questions, or talking over my experiences during infusion. During the infusion, Jon seems well focused on my treatment and not preoccupied or distracted with other things. The environment they've created feels more like I'm walking into someone's professional home office than a doctor's office. Comfortable both mentally and physically (nice comfy recliners). The long and short of it is that Jon and Lisa have created a Ketamine clinic that feels more oriented to their patients, instead of just their patients' wallets. They definitely strive for quality of treatment, not volume of patients. Treatment is significantly cheaper than other providers, and the care is significantly more patient based. I had my first Ketamine Infusion at a different provider in Austin. I'm grateful that my therapist convinced me to cancel my appointments with the other clinic, and instead schedule with Austin Ketamine Clinic. The provider I originally chose seemed to care most about swiping my credit card. I realized early into my first appointment with them that they only provided the chemical. The only interest they showed about my experience, was to determine if they should increase my dose next time. They offered no real feedback on my experiences during the infusion, and it felt like they wanted me out the door so they could begin with the other guy who was waiting in the lobby when I came out. I don't leave many reviews, but the differences I noticed between Austin Ketamine Clinic and other providers in Austin warranted sharing my experiences. read more

Jon and Lisa have done a fantastic job creating a warm, welcoming space for treatments. They were very friendly and professional. I felt safe the whole time I was there. In the age of Covid, they do a temperature check, everyone wears a mask and they keep the place clean. The treatment rooms are inviting and outfitted with comfy, oversized recliners, appropriate lighting and a huge projector screen. High praise goes out to Charlotte who administered 5 of my 6 treatments. When you're doing this kind of deep work, the set, setting, and the people you interact with can affect the outcome. Charlotte was the perfect trip companion; she had a kind, loving vibe, was easy to talk to and made me feel at ease every time I was there. They had me fill out a mental health survey before I started and then again after I finished all six treatments. I have now finished a series of 6 ketamine infusions with Austin Ketamine Clinic. Jon, Pierce and Lolo assisted me through each of my infusions and helped make me comfortable with the whole experience. I had never tried any treatment that would have been considered to be in the psychedelic category so I was initially very nervous. For reference, I have suffered from OCD, anxiety, depression and some PTSD symptoms. When I decided to try Ketamine as a treatment to help with these disorders, I had been on a healing journey for 2-3 years already but my nervous system continued to be more activated than I would have liked and I personally haven't had great results with SSRI's. I heard about Ketamine infusions from my sister who had a friend that did it that suffered from depression who was able to get off meds so I decided to give it a try. I researched all of the providers in the Austin area and after reading all of their reviews, chose to go with Austin Ketamine Clinic and I am so thankful I made that choice. Like I said above, the care provided by Jon, Pierce and Lolo was phenomenal. If you are lucky enough to meet either one of the three, you will understand what I mean. They have a natural empathy and way of making you feel safe and loved that most providers lack now adays. Prior to starting treatments they conduct a psychological assessment to determine whether you are a candidate for this treatment. They also provide self report assessments to determine your depression, anxiety and PTSD scores before you start treatment and then after your 6th infusion. My scores in all 3 areas markedly dropped between my first and last assessments. Prior to treatment and my reason for seeking treatment to begin with was: OCD Intrusive Thoughts that would get stuck and ruminate for days at times, anxiety attacks with physiological responses that had my nervous system stuck, and depression that would result from my OCD and anxiety. The improvements I've noticed since starting and finishing the 6 series are: when an intrusive ocd thought is introduced I am not getting stuck on them for more than a few minutes now and I am able to redirect my mind with the tools I've worked on with my therapist much more effectively and quickly. This is huge for me personally. It is the same for my anxiety, when I have a trigger, I am able to use breathing techniques and move through it much more quickly. As of today, I am not feeling depressed . Now that I've done the initial series, I will be able to do booster doses which are recommended approximately 4-8 weeks out but this is dependent on each individual and how they feel. I am continuing to work with AKC for future symptom management and they also offer a ketamine prescription for in between treatments once you've been through your series. I am personally ready to talk with my psych about weaning/getting off SSRIs and I'm so grateful to my body and AKC for making this possible. read more

Apologies in advance for the long post.I wanted to wait a few weeks until I wrote this review, so that I could give a REAL and valid update of my experience. I recently finished a round of infusions here at AKC -- 9 infusions over 4 weeks. First let me say that I have tried over 10 different SSRI/NDRI's over the last 20+ years, talk therapy, cognitive therapy, hypnotherapy, acupuncture, wellness centers, etc. Nothing has helped me get my severe "treatment resistant" depression in check. NOTHING. I was so exhausted from trying something new and it not working. I had pretty much given up any hope that I'd be able to lead a "normal" life. Then a dear friend of mine told me that she had done ketamine infusion therapy and that it changed her life. She is in the same boat as me, except she also suffers from anxiety. I do not. I knew that this type of therapy was going to be expensive as insurance does not cover it. But I knew that it could be the most important investment I would make in my life. And it WAS. These infusions changed my life! They legit SAVED my life. I honestly had very little hope going into this, but I came out a changed person who got her life back. I now know what it feels like to live a normal life. I am super happy, the dark cloud that had been following me around is gone, the sky is bluer, the grass is greener and I have so much gratitude now. I have gone from a negative Nancy to a positive, grateful, blessed person. I was shocked at how quickly this treatment worked. It did take me until around my 4th infusion to finally feel the effects, so I extended my treatment by 3 more sessions. So glad I did. This has literally been the best thing I could have ever done for myself -- and Austin Ketamine Clinic was the best place I could have ever chosen. I felt so SAFE here. I was uncertain of what to expect, but Jon and Lisa took such good care of me. The scheduling was super easy to set up with Lisa, the EMT's that stayed with me during my infusions were awesome and the ambiance of this place is everything. I felt so comfortable here and actually looked forward to my treatments. They NEVER rushed me out the door when my treatment was over - in fact, they sat with me and talked to me as long as I wanted to. Plus they have the best rates of everyone I researched. I am so disappointed in this clinic. I thought I had found a caring clinic who wasn't just interested in cash however I was wrong. During a booster infusion, IV access was lost. I received only half of my usual dose. Another IV was painfully inserted but I couldn't handle it due to being half dosed with ketamine. I was sent home. I receive infusions before I feel any symptoms to avoid ever feeling my depression again. I was called the next day, by Lisa, to ask how I was doing. I said I wouldn't know for weeks. Lisa claimed the amount I received (not my standard dose) was adequate. I trusted her. Approximately two weeks later I fell apart. My depression raged. I reached out to Lisa, only to be told again that my dose was adequate. It obviously wasn't. I was feeling like I'd had no infusion at all. Lisa responded with a dosing amount so I looked it up myself - yes she quoted an average but the NIH included a range in its study. As a person who often requires higher doses, I informed her as such. She responded "do you want to make an appointment for a booster?" I asked if I would be paying full price... I did not hear back for an entire week. I texted again today to not hear anything all day, and Lisa finally called me this evening. She said she was insulted that I looked up the dosage amount myself. And that she was waiting for me to contact her to schedule an appointment, ignoring my question regarding cost. The worst part is that I liked this clinic. I liked the providers and I liked the atmosphere. But this unprofessionalism is absurd. To leave a patient hanging for a whole week when they reached out regarding an active depressive episode is shameful. To blame a client for lost IV access during an infusion is also shameful. I wanted to like Austin ketamine clinic. I did. I spent thousands there. I would have willingly paid full price if Lisa would've responded to my inquiry about cost of the makeup infusion. Instead I got dead air and a lack of care. Take your money elsewhere. read more
