When we received the refund, it was minus $10 per person ($70 total) for the booking fee. When I asked about the refund, I was only forwarded a screen shot of the refund policy. Yes, I did read the policy when I booked. But, it was cancelled by Dive 30A, not us. This doesn't seem like good business, nor does the screen shot response.

And that's what being underwater brings to mind for me, a realm that you can't see unless you go there, and when you do, it is supernatural and extraordinary. And Dive 30A is the best way to get there - underwater! Opened in 2020 by my friend, Walt Hartley, it's the place to begin your underwater adventure whether it's lessons, or a guided outing, or great gear. I will never skimp on my diving gear, and you shouldn't either. Walt is an extremely safe, experienced, well-trained diver, and I'm going with nobody but him as I explore the underwater realm. It's my favorite dune lake to paddle…read more The water is usually glassy smooth. I paddle the remote channel among the reeds that leads to the bigger part of the lake. It's picturesque. It's peaceful. I paddle the channel that leads to the Gulf with amazing reflections on the water. I paddle the cove around the private docks. I see crab pots and an occasional gator observing me - an intruder. The first time I paddled here I pulled my board up on the sand and walked over to the Gulf, but when I came back, my board was gone. The water rose very quickly and my board was pulled out into the channel. So I swam out and got it and learned a lesson about how quickly the water level can change. It's all of this, the diversity of looks and the complexity of it, that make it my favorite place to paddle.

My family and I spent a couple hours at the beach. It is a great place to paddleboard or swim. There is a man-made reef about one or two football fields out. You can get to it by going to the yellow poles on the beach and swimming directly out. If the poles appear to be one you are going the right way, if you can see both poles then you are off course. There was a group of kayakers out there doing a tour when I was there so I swam out and joined them. It was fun but I don't recommend anyone who didn't competitively swim to do that. The waves can be big and a paddleboard or kayak would have been safer. Once you get out to the reef there is so much wildlife. Lots of fish and even sea turtles!!
