At the end, she recommended I make a follow-up appointment to discuss it further. Several months later, I get a bill for a copay, due in 7 days. I called her office and was informed that because I discussed something beyond "wellness" at my physical, she marked it as a second, separate appointment. This means that during our conversation, Dr. Guerra decided we were crossing out of "annual physical" territory, and yet decided not to say anything, knowing it would lead to me being double-billed. I understand having a limit on what's discussed at a physical, but I certainly didn't think I'd crossed it, and for Dr. Guerra to encourage the conversation without a hint that she would charge me extra for it is exactly the kind of taking advantage that scares people off from the doctor in the first place. When I called her office to ask about the charge, they twice told me they'd call back and didn't. They ultimately refused to reconsider it. My insurance says this is allowed but that doctors are really supposed to say something first because otherwise it comes off as tricking people. Find another doctor, or at the very least tell her that she had better warn you before she answers a question she'll charge you extra for.

PLEASE give better training. - the techs assume you magically know your schedule and doses of shots. They'll change your schedule and just assume that you know it, based on the color of your vial. Communication ... not so great. - Dr. Cooke was specifically recommended to me for being super detail oriented. Hmm? I had an actual near-death experience with drywall dust that he was super dismissive of, but thankfully I found a pulmonologist who was extremely helpful and understanding. He showed zero knowledge about air filtration, which seems important for reducing allergies. And the appointments are honestly so weird and creepy, looking at the color of my snot on random appointment days and touching all over my face with bare hands. - nobody answers voicemails - cool! I was traveling for 3 months and was proactive to discuss this with several people before going, since it would put a pause in my shots. Every person I spoke to gave different advice and didn't even follow their own guidance. They ordered my new vials two months early. There's just zero consistency or communication, which is stressful. - the waiting room is typically a disaster. People on their phones, watching videos with the volume turned up, sneezing and coughing galore with nobody bothering to wear masks... it's gross. I prefer to sit on the floor in the hallway to find peace and quiet, since nobody cares to make this room a nice atmosphere while you're waiting for shots and held for 30 minutes after. Since I've been a patient so long I feel trapped here, since I assume changing clinics would mean I need to start over. And I do like two of the shot-techs, out of the maybe 15 I have seen. But to know I will dread an hour a month to come here for shots, plus icky and unhelpful appointments... this is simply not a nice place.

The appointment (that I also paid for) was USELESS without the results of his allergy tests. He was there for one reason only --ALLERGIES! no test results = useless. I've tried to rebook his test but no one answers the phone; the voicemail isn't activated and no return calls. No online way to be in touch either. Great doctor in an absolute joke of a practice. I originally went to the Cardiologist because my doctor found that I had high blood pressure in August of 2023. The Cardiologist Dr. Otero put me on blood pressure pills. I took the pills for a few months and stopped. In March 2024 I ended up in the hospital with extreme dizziness and got physically sick when I moved. I went through a plethora of tests and the emergency room doctor said I had possibly had a small heart attack and/or Stroke, the hospital said I had to see a heart surgeon immediately and set an appointment. When I spoke with Dr Otero he said to cancel the appointment with the surgeon and that he needed to do more tests to verify my condition before I see a surgeon. Then I was run through every singe one of the same tests that were performed when I was in the hospital costing me for out of pocket expense again. Then an angiogram was scheduled for the first week of June 2024. The results were not good, Bicuspid valve that needed to be replaced, a 70% blockage that required a double bypass and a aortic aneurysm which could burst at any moment, (same thing killed my grandfather). I was told that a surgeon would call me the next week to schedule an appointment. Well, the next week came and went and no call...then the second week went by and no call. So, I called Dr Otero's office and left a message with his assistant Andrenika Ellison that I had not heard from the surgeon. I never heard back from Cardio Texas, and this was three weeks after my diagnosis. I waited until the next week, called again, no answer, left a message and never heard back. I had other family members who also used Cardio Texas but other Doctors in the practice call to try to get a response, and STILL NO CALL BACK! Remember, I have an aneurysm that could rupture an any moment and I would die on the spot. This went on for THREE months, I called every week, without an answer or a returned call. Finally at the end of August a surgeon's office called. I scheduled an appointment and the first thing the surgeon said to me was " I'm very concerned that you were diagnosed with this condition and your cardiologist took three months to get you to a surgeon?" Then he said, my diagnosed blockage was not 70%, it was 85% blockage and I didn't need a double bypass, I needed a triple bypass and could I be ready tomorrow for surgery? Then the surgeon said, I could be almost recovered by that point if they would have sent you back in June. BEWARE OF THIS PRACTICE, THEY ARE JUST LOOKING TO GET THAT COMMISSION FROM BIG PHARMA. Then, when I went to Cardiac recovery CARE with a physical therapist to help with my physical recovery. I was supposed to go to for several weeks but I ran into an issue the first day with my heart rate shooting up to 130 bpm. The therapist made me stop and instantly called to speak with Dr Otero and didn't get a answer. I was told to go home because we could not do any more exercises until he spoke with the Dr. Well, needless to say after making several calls and leaving messages the therapist never heard back from Dr. Otero or his office staff and would not see me without their call back. I'm going to have to say this is pretty sad for the type of doctors that are in this office...you know...HEART DOCTORS...or are they Grim Reapers!
