WE HAVE NO HUMANE SOCIETY IN BAY COUNTY! It has been almost…read more6 years since Hurricane Michael which destroyed the official building housing the humane society. As of today 4/22/2025 there still is NO humane society or any true services to the community as described in the mission statement. All that is being done is, by appointment minimal shot clinic, no rabies shots, toe nail clippings, and "puppy play days". There are NO fund raisers, community outreach, efforts to help the community in any way, even tho the HUMANE SOCIETY OF BAY COUNTY IS SITTING ON OVER A MILLION DOLLARS! The only thing being done is the operation of a thrift store with expenses in excess of the income, while at the same time the EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR IS DRAWING A SALARY FOR DOING NOTHING BUT DRAWING A SALARY! She has claimed for years now she wants to reopen, yet nothing! The admission for Puppy Play Day is a bag of any pet food. Since the humane society sells pet food but does not operate an emergency pet food bank, I can only surmise the donated food is being sold to help cover the expenses of the store. The ED and the board of trustees are all the same people since they were appointed in 2019. There have never been any opportunities for interested individuals to run for a position on the board, the 'meetings' are closed to the public, and no printed copies of the minutes are available. In fact, no actions by the humane society are ever made public! That is very suspicious! OUR HUMANE SOCIETY IS A PUBLICLY OWNED 501c3. It is NOT owned by the ED and as a community and as some people are donators, all information should be available for public review! The ED has elected to maintain secrecy about all operations while she receives a salary for NOT HELPING THE COMMUNITY! I AM CALLING ON THE COMMUNITY TO CONTACT THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, EACH AND EVERY BOARD MEMBER AND REQUEST THEIR RESIGNATIONS TODAY! You can find the names and places of employment listed on the Humane Society of Bay County website(tab at the top of the page). If they refuse to do anything promoting the mission of helping animals at risk, then they do not need to be in those positions and need replaced with others who actually care. There is so much more to this issue, but this is how WE start to rectify this obscene mismanagement of OUR humane society! Aprilwomack48@yahoo.com

I've been trying to find one since I got to this area and no one has been able to help me! They were pleasant to speak to on the phone. The facilities seemed simple but well organized. They do accept food donations and they have a food pantry programme of some sort. I didn't inquire into the specifics, but I did notice a table just inside their front door that had a few food items on it with a note that said to take something if you needed it. If you have a food donation, go to the person at the front desk (inside, to the right) and let them know. They will meet you at the double doors at the end of the building at their receiving area. The few staff members I encountered were very friendly and appreciative of donations. I've had a hard time finding a place to make a donation in this area and I've been really disappointed in the community for not being able to direct me anywhere. Everyone I've asked gives me a look like I'm crazy for asking. If you have a desire to make a food pantry donation HERE IS A PLACE! I may not be religious, but I will certainly support any group who makes an effort to assist people in their community! They will accept your donation without asking any questions. They will also give you a receipt if you'd like one.

After Michael they were set up from day 1. The Apartment complex that allowed me to ride the storm…read moreout with was Parkway Garden Apartments. The place was blow apart but they saved my life and a buddy who goes by Narnicle Bob we both lived on our boats. The storm as you know knocked out everything and blew Panama City back to the stone age. I was left with the only working vehicle. So my job turned into providing for the 38 people that were there they needed everything. When I drove to their distribution point I was met with compassion and kind words. They were organized and helped me with everything and most likely saved a lot of folks. Food - cleaning equipment - water and ice I left every day filled with supplies. When I pulled into the Apartments they cheered! I can't thank them enough good people with a great heart. Parkway is still there but now I am in Houston with my sister and doing what I can to still help them. When the need was great they stood tall. Thank you and GOD BLESS Capt Mike Worley
