This used to be a great shop. I paid to have my car repaired and they changed the fuel pump ($600) in April of 2024. In May of 2024, the car would not run. I towed it to them and they said that a hose, which is part of the fuel pump and replaced already, was broken. They charged me an additional $115 for the diagnostic, $175 for labor, and $8.00 for the hose. Their parts and labor is guaranteed for 90 days. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Took my car to get a headlight replaced, I was priced about $35 over the phone. $180 for the kit to clean the headlights. Said, No. I just want the headlight replaced. Called me at work to tell me the charge was $180 something and I said "No, has he already started?" The lady told me no. I said Ok, Ill pick my car up after work, I cannot pay $180 to replace a headlight. She then called me back to inform me, his labor charge was $75 for removing the headlight COVER. I recently had worked performed at Auto Medic Mandeville, the cost of which was probably far in excess of what may be considered average repair cost. (I agreed to and authorized the cost). Not long after the work was completed, I began to notice oil leaking below the engine, and at that point thought it was residual from pre repair. The oil leak was so severe the interior of the vehicle filled with smoke. I contacted Auto Medic; the person I spoke with introduced himself as the office manager. After explaining my circumstance, he advised me Auto Medic stands behind their work and will further advise me, shortly after the discussion was completed the office manager called me and stated, " they may not cover any warranty work", he also stated the former staff was terminated for reason I will not state, as it is only hearsay to me and none of my concern. He did say he would have someone contact me within a couple of days to further discuss this matter, to date no call. Out of extreme need I elected to bring the vehicle to another shop, they contacted me after a thorough inspection, and advised of all that need to be repaired. The repair was directly related to bad work and lack of attention, the cost of the repair was half of the original amount. The point of the review is to advise anyone who may have the intention of bringing your vehicle to this shop, you may wish to reconsider. Not only was the additional cost an issue based on negligent work with no over site, but the inconvenience of another delay after waiting for weeks for the first repair was also an issue. It is often stated you get what you pay for, in my case I paid a lot and got nothing. I would not recommend Auto Medic. read more

I have a 2011 Chevy Equinox needing a lot of work. The owner took the time to explain a cost/benefit of doing the significant repair work or selling/trading the car as is. He explained the problems and what it would take to make the vehicle safe. The prices were fair and the work was completed in a reasonable time. Very courteous, explained all the issues to me beforehand and the estimate was accurate. I will def be going back. Highly recommend this shop. read more

I've used this place many times in the past few years. Gary, the owner, was always very honest and helpful. Though the last time I brought my truck in for a head gasket replacement, the mechanic Steven, charged me for a replacement but only poured copper sealant in my radiator. He and the new receptionist lied about it and refused to let me talk with Gary. COMPLETE RIPOFF! That sealant crap ruined my motor and cooling system. Never again will I let them steal my money. I hope for Gary's sake he finds out what's happening in his shop. read more

Brought an older Volvo with low mileage to be repaired. They suggested I buy the parts off Ebay to save some money, so I spent $1600 and ordered every single part they said it needed. I dropped off the car and parts, then left the state for a work trip. They called a few days later saying it would cost me $2200 for labor. About $1000 more than the original quote. I hesitated because I really couldn't afford it and it sounded absolutely crazy/bogus, however it was a gift for my brother and a way for me to move my belongings from Louisiana to Massachusetts. I only made it halfway up the coast before it started jerking at every stop. Luckily it made it home. I had my family mechanic and Dad look it over and literally NOTHING from the list was done properly or done at all. Ex. I bought a Timing Belt for $120 and it was never replaced. The ORIGINAL STOCK timing belt was STILL barely hanging on. The strut mounts, throttle body unit and several other parts I paid for were not fixed, also. They SWINDLED me pretty intensely. It's even more awful because I BUSTED MY ASS and WENT HUNGRY most days trying to pay for it all. Other than reporting here and to the BBB next there unfortunately isn't much else I can do right now. If I could afford a lawyer, they'd be getting a retainer letter. I hope karma comes into play here. No idea how the mechanic or woman behind the desk sleep at night. I hope this review saves someone else! DO NOT GIVE THEM A DIME!!! It is not worth your valuable time and energy and they do not deserve the business. read more

Excellent and honest mechanic. Owner/operater does high quality work and cares about customers. I recently moved here from California and a few months later the fuel pump sending unit went out in my wife's Nissan Xterra. Back home I had the same mechanic since I was sixteen, so I was scared to death to be out on my own without a mechanic. I checked out 4 different auto mechanic businesses and "Auto Medic of Mandeville" was by far the BEST. The owner took his time with me and we had an honest conversation about the repair and cost. His shop is clean and large enough to handle anything. After choosing him to fix my Xterra, he did a perfect job, used the highest quality parts, and the final bill was exactly what he quoted me.
