While he was fixing the problem he discovered another issue and let me know if I would like him to fix that as well along with another reasonable quote! The owner and son are nice guys but they tried ripping me off! Here's my horror story with them. I needed 2 new Strut/spring assemblies for my minivan as one of them failed. They told me over the phone, I was out of town, that it was going to be about $120 per strut spring assembly ($240 just for parts). I found this to be true and on par with what I found online from Autozone.com. I asked them for a reasonable quote on how much it would be for labor (typically the more expensive part of a repair). They told me they could do it ALL for about $400 Total for Parts AND Labor before looking at the vehicle (that would have been about $160 for Labor which I thought was reasonable). They told me that they wanted to confirm that number by taking a look at the situation for themselves. I asked my wife to take our minivan down there to let them take a look at it (since I was out of town at the time). As soon as they had the chance to take a look at our van, they called me back and DOUBLED the price! I was in shock! After picking my jaw up off the floor, I listened to their reason as to why it was going to be so expensive: "because the nuts that hold the shock/strut assembly were buried up under the windshield and would be really hard to get to". I thought that price hike was totally unreasonable per the given reason and did a little research on my own. After a quick search on the net, I found out that there were 8 very easy to remove metal clips holding on the plastic shroud along the bottom of the windshield. Along with those 8 clips, my windshield wiper arms (2 bolts) and the 3 screws holding on my windshield wiper motor, there would be nothing else (including the windshield) that would hinder anyone from getting in there and accessing the 3 nuts that hold each spring/strut assembly in place. I asked my wife to carefully drive our van home, to not have it fixed, and wait until I got hold from my trip as I would replace them. As a disclaimer, I have enough mechanical knowledge to know how to turn a screwdriver and turn a wrench. A few days later, after returning from my trip, I was able to replace those old, broken spring/strut assemblies myself and get an alignment for $300. Buyer's beware of this place. Make sure they aren't trying to rip you off! read more
