Around 2.5 years ago I brought my 2012 FJ Cruiser to APS to perform their undercoating/rust treatment. I knew there was existing rust and wanted to begin the process of removal of said existing rust and mitigation of future rust. I spoke with the man at the front desk about undercoating, he was helpful, though did not provide options. I elected to proceed with their undercoating which ran about $1,100 at the time (If I remember correctly) and was a thick rubbery black substance and included the removal of surface rust and the application of a rust converter. I left my car with them and specifically asked for photos during the process, as everyone knows, if you are going to sell a used car with undercoating, you MUST, have photos of the frame/undercarriage during the rust removal and undercoating process as if you do not, down goes your car's value as the buyer is unaware what is underneath. About four days later I picked up my car, asked if they could send me the photos and the lady at the front desk said she would look into it and get back to me. I tried calling a few days later about the photos and got the same answer. They never got back to me - no photos were taken. About 1.5 years goes by and I began noticing rust surfacing through the undercoating on the frame in the wheel wells. Upon further inspection of the underbody, it was covered in rust poking through the undercoating and there was a 1"-2" hole in my frame, which does not fully form in 1.5 years, which leads me to believe their "rust converter" or whatever they use either does not work a lick, or it wasn't even applied and they just sprayed over an existing hole. If the hole was present at the time of undercoating, they should have stopped immediately. If it was not present at the time of undercoating, and there rust converter was applied on the exterior and interior of the frame properly, like they advertise, there would not be a hole to speak of. After seeing this i posted a google review, got a call from the same gentleman who managed my initial service and asked if I'd bring the car in to look at, which i did. He agreed something was definitely wrong and that they would remove the undercoating, if desired. I had them remove the undercoating, for which they did a pretty good job, and told them not to apply any more undercoating. I then removed my negative review. After digging into the subject of frame rust over the last year, the worst thing you can do to a frame with existing rust is coat it with a substance that does not allow air/moisture to be released from the metal. If you cover the rust with the rubbery paint product they applied, it is like putting a cap on a tooth with a cavity, it only gets worse, though a properly applied rust converter would help, which it wasn't. Long story short, i began doing my own work on the frame to remove the rest of the undercoating that they did not get to and found more issues of substantial rust that was sprayed over with this thick, black, rubbery coating which can only be the result of existing frame rust, with a poor (or zero) application of rust converter then covered with whatever they sprayed. I encourage anyone, whether your vehicle is brand new, or covered in rust, to do your research thoroughly on what products are beneficial for your frame and the state it is in, as the work they did was not at all. I would not trust this shop with a single one of my vehicles. read more

I dropped off my Camry for an interior cleaning and my 4Runner for a window tint, interior cleaning and rust protection. My 2015 Camry has never been professionally cleaned before and we have just completed a cross country trip right before dropping the car off to APS for the interior cleaning and when we received the Camry back. The car felt like new again. The seat of the car was like day and night when I saw the results. My 4Runner is a 2011 and did not have much rust on the frames but I wanted to get it protected against the salt due to the last winter. The interior cleaning at first I was not pleased with. There were spots underneath the drive and passenger seat that was not all vacuumed and you could easily see that it was a rushed job. The owner Ian saw the rushed job and agreed to redo the interior free of charge. My 4Runner also got the passenger and driver side tinted. There were no sloppy air bubbles or crease. The rust protection of my 4Runner was the key focus on why I trust APS with my car. The photos and video (could not load ) speaks for themselves. I consulted Ian prior to getting the work done (window tint and PPF), and he was very informative about their products, services, and even gave some good recommendations. HOWEVER, I asked them to do the sun strip tint, but seems they forgot. So that is why I didn't give a 5 star. Fortunately, they didn't charge me for the sun strip job as it wasn't done, but it would have been nice if they remembered that we talked about applying the sun strip tint. Though I couldn't get the exact color code as a wrap, I love this Gloss Grass Green from Avery Dennison. The Gloss Black is a 3M product. APS had great knowledge of the wrap products I was looking at and were able to source things quickly. Carlos did an amazing job with the installation, taking great care with a lot of fiddly bits. 2023 Toyota 4Runner ORP, only a month old. Drove 3+ hours (one-way) to have the well-respected experts at APS apply Noxudol 750/900 for Rustproofing & Undercoating. They are certified (and regularly re-certified) by Noxudol manufacturer technicians; spray equipment is regularly validated to make sure it's properly calibrated and functioning properly, etc. APS did a great job with the undercoat; parts that should not be coated (such as the exhaust system) were masked properly beforehand. The finished product looks very professional. Other services I purchased on the same trip: SunTek Evolve (best IR blocking) window tint applied all around (except windshield). Fantastic install job; very clean, very tight edges. Not a single tiny bubble anywhere. Exterior badging removed from the sides of the vehicle. Looks like the badges were never there. Exterior detail (wash, clay bar, iron decon) + paint sealant. Paint came out shining like a mirror. I've seen pictures of this effect, but in real life its something to behold. Aquapel windshield treatment. Similar effect to Rain-X but lasts many months instead of just a few weeks. Only had one good rain since this was applied, but I took it on the highway to test and yes the water just flies off, don't even need wipers above a certain speed. I could not be happier with the way everything turned out. Very professional work. The crew at APS has been doing this for a long time, and their experience is evident. Communication was excellent. I worked with John....John I wish every service vendor I work with had a manager like you. Well-spoken, well-dressed, well-informed (decades of experience), very patient (with my many extra calls & questions). Extremely helpful. APS needed to keep my car for a few days to complete all the work I wanted, and John even took care of reserving a rental car for me; had them come and pick me up, got me good rental rate. Visited APS in Fairfax for the undercarriage treatment and Cavity wax rust prevention on my brand new truck. The good: The staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. There were no issues getting scheduled for the requested services, and the work was performed promptly. The coating applied to the undercarriage was done so evenly. We have not yet had the weather that creates the type of conditions this product is meant to protect against, but I have no reason to believe that it wouldn't work as advertised. The bad: When I picked my truck up, I was a little disappointed in the condition it was returned to me in. There were huge brown and white spots all over the hood, windshield, doors, and side windows, which I assume was overspray from the coatings. I chose not to say anything and just went home to wash it. However, it wasn't an easy task to get some of that stuff off. I certainly didn't expect a free detail or anything, but a customer shouldn't get their car back in that condition. A rinse would've been nice before that stuff dried. I will probably have to go pay for a detail now as I can still see some spots on my hood. The Overall: I'm overall happy with the products and services received. If it weren't for the condition my truck was returned in, this would've been a 5 star rating. read more

We took my wife's Nissan Murano to APS to get a stain removed from the light grey headliner. The headliner got dirt on it when Safelite Alexandria replaced the windshield. Safelite tried to remove the dirt but did a very poor job and left a stain. Car only had 900 miles on it when Safelite damaged it. I contacted the Nissan dealer and they didn't want to attempt to clean the stain and said replacing the headliner was an absolute "last resort". APS had done multiple services for our f150 truck so I contacted Ian to inquire if he would be able to do anything. Ian felt they could definitely improve the appearance, and since I have an extremely high level of confidence in him and his company we scheduled an appointment. Automotive Protection Services did a FANTASTIC job and completely removed the stain. We could not be happier with their work and the very fair price of the work. I brought my vehicle for anti-rust treatment and a protective sealant. I also paid for an injection of material between panels for further protection. I was told it takes about 4 days for the chemicals to bring the metals to its original state, so naturally I was suspicious when I got a call the next day that my vehicle was already done. By my inspection, No anti-rust was sprayed under my vehicle. It was just painted over with the sealant. No prep work was done because a good amount of rust was painted over. Worst, I did not find any of the rust preventative material in between my panels that I paid for. I decided to write this off as a loss, rather than continue doing business with them. I do not trust them. Manager spent so much time calling me for business, but got ZERO calls when I questioned them about their workmanship. Very disappointed. read more

We found this service using an internet search of local car detailing companies. Their website has "schedule" buttons littered all over every page, so instead of calling to book an appointment we used the online scheduling feature they are pushing hard on their website. Today, less than 24 hours before our appointment, which we worked our schedule around, they auto cancelled the appointment because they overbooked. I called and their reason for canceling us instead of the other person in conflict for the slot was because we booked online versus calling to book the appointment. I should have stuck with ProClean of Tysons. They are a bit more expensive but in 10 years I have never had any issue like this and their work is impeccable. I'm sure their are other shops closer, but after this bad experience I'm not taking any more risks. read more

Awesome place. I had a huge, super tenacious antifreeze spill in my trunk last year, and it seemed like no matter what I did I couldn't get the stuff out. APS (Ziebart back then) removed almost all of it out for a pretty reasonable price, but I noticed a few days later that there was some residual fluid still in the fabric. Apparently it had been released by the excessive summer heat. I gave them a call and they cleaned it again at no extra charge, and they told me to let them know if there was any left (there wasn't). Then when our puppy threw up in the backseat a few weeks ago and left a huge stain on the fabric (just after the car had been detailed elsewhere when we were out of town), APS said they could clean it and offered to detail the whole interior. I wasn't sure if it would be worth it because we'd just had it done, but when they finished I couldn't believe what an outstanding job they'd done. The stain was totally gone and the whole thing was pristine. The interior looked better than it did when we bought the car, no exaggeration. Just awesome. If you have ever lost a car to an undercarriage rust issue when the entire rest of the car was perfect, you will appreciate this review and Automotive Protective Services. I have a "Keepsake" PT Cruiser that has been well maintained but the undercarriage was showing signs rust. I asked for treatment of the rust and an undercoat sealant. The work was scheduled, they have a well-deserved waiting list, and the work was done promptly. When I picked up my "Keepsake Cruiser," they took the time to show me the undercarriage work by putting my vehicle on one of their lifts and explained the work done. The work is tidy, everything that should not be coated was not coated (exhaust pipes, brake linings protected, etc.), very nicely done. The "front desk" is very professional and friendly, and the shop staff is as well. Compared to replacing a vehicle lost to rust, this is a "frugal" highly recommended preventative maintenance item, especially if you also happen to think of your vehicles as "children."
