My family and I were vacationing into town when our alternator went out on the drive down the mountain. We were losing power on the way down the mountain's edge, which began stiffening the power steering (shutting off lights, radio, etc.) but we made it down the mountain by grace of God. Luckily we got some jumper cables at the closest gas station, but with barely enough power, we made it into this autozone parking lot with our car and power steering immediately dying in the middle of the parking lot. Todd came our rescue when our family was lost and without hope. Without hesitation he changed our alternator in the rain, and did it with a smile on his face! He's good company to be around, and many people stopped by to ask him personally about issues with their cars. Needless to say, he saved our weekend, and our family will never forget you! Can't believe this place! I returned a $300 peice of equipment an hour or less after buying it because I did not need it. I waited 3-5 business days for my refund like the store told me. After the seventh business day I went into the store were they told me "everything is good on our end your refund was returned, call your bank to ensure they haven't placed a hold on the funds." So I call my bank, and they told me that autozone had repurchased the item AFTER it was returned. So not only did this store STEAL from me, but they in fact led me astray telling me "Your refund has been processed in our system". NEVER EVER GO HERE! read more

Not the best automotive spot in town. Their prices are very competitive, but they always seem low on staff & most of the time I ask for something that they need to get from the back or look up through the system, they don't seem to know what I'm talking about. I never see the same staff in there twice either. Unfortunately, we were even given the wrong size wheel studs for my Subaru, which cost us HOURS of extra work. This would've cost me hundreds of dollars if I would've had to have the car towed and brought to a shop. Luckily, my dad is really persistent and it took us 3 to 4 hours, but we got it off. This is a long overdue message I'm posting to highlight and frankly celebrate one employee at this location: Daniel. Back in January, my wife and I came up to Tahoe from the Bay Area for a weekend and used tire chains for the first time in our lives. The chains failed us miserably.To be fair, the chains were totally unnecessary, as there was no snow, but nonetheless, there were checkpoints and the chains were being enforced, so we had no choice but to drive them on pure asphalt, which understandably broke one (though the other oddly survived the ordeal). Ultimately, the left one broke and wound itself up in our wheel (and I mean wheel, as opposed to tire). It was a mess. Daniel went above and beyond the call of duty the morning we needed to drive back to the Bay. He jacked our car up, took the hubcap off, and used various tools the store had. He hacked and chopped, working for probably an hour. Finally, he managed to sever the mess of a tire chain and rid us of it. He didn't need to do any of this. It wasn't his problem. Nonetheless, he solved it. Without his help, we would have had to book another night somewhere, call in to work the following day [Tuesday, the day after Presidents Day (which would have been terrible for me as I'm a teacher and this would've meant planning a lesson for a sub, which I couldn't have done because I didn't have my computer)], and get it fixed in the morning somewhere--where it might not have been free. During this most recent storm I was in the unfortunate situation of needing new chains for my truck. I went there right when they opened and the staff was already slammed busy with calls, a long line and multiple dings from their automated system saying they need to fill online orders. I was driving to Autozone with a headlight out after dark and literally got pulled over on the way there. Normally I install new lights myself but it takes me a little while, so when the clerk asked if I wanted him to install it I was super grateful as I had already been stopped by the cops once! Last winter I bought new windshield wipers and they were really not cutting it, icing over when it was snowing hard; luckily I still had my receipt and the staff at Autozone were happy to give me their full value towards a new set of wipers when I went in, and again they installed the new ones for me. On 12/29/2022 I purchased a set of cable's for my daughter's car. AutoZone charged me $155.50 for this item, which is a rip off considering you could buy them down the street for $39.99. The place down the street was out of cables so we had no choice but to buy them. Considering I am a local person who has lived in SLT for over 4 years, I asked for a discount. They gave me a $19.55 discount which was better than nothing. The cashier returned the items in his system, then charged me the new price. Checking my bank statement. They charged the $155.50, charged the $135.95 and then charge me again for the $155.50. The credit of $155.50 went on my card but any math student could see that $291.45 was the total they charged for the cables. When I called the store, they said "we can't help you" and hung up on me. The customer service at this store is ridiculously inept. If you can't add and you can't subtract you should not be working at a retail store. If you can't give the customer who is disgruntled the time of day then you shouldn't be working at a retail store. I am disappointed in AutoZone's prices and their customer service. Had my van popped a check engine light coming into Tahoe. Had no tools or anything and needed to get it checked before driving through the snow to go home. Went in and they let me borrow the code checker and we were able to determine it was a radiator fan relay. One was in stock and, of course, it wasn't a simple swap. Stopped in over the weekend in need of snow chains to make it over the pass. The lines were long as there was a storm but the staff moved quickly and made sure that everyone got what they needed. The chains were about 10% higher than Amazon's prices but seeing as I and others needed the chains right away I wasn't too upset about it. read more
