One of the things I love about this mural is the story of Yeardley Smith and Dan Grice. It is such a neat love story and without that mural, that story wouldn't have happened. My husband and I both always enjoy this mural when we walk or drive by it, and often stop to take it all in. It is just a fun reminder of the history and something to enjoy. It is certainly worth stopping by to take it in and smile, then go check out the other fun murals that are scattered around town.

They were all so flavorful (not salty) the texture of the gnocchi was so soft and absorbed the flavorful sauce. We were all blown away. We used QR to order, and were advised to order in waves. Drinks first. Everything came out promptly, even though the restaurant was pretty full. The last few days we ate at some incredible restaurants. Cold Springs Tavern in Santa Barbara, Nepenthe in Big Sur, then we come to Osteria DOP and all agreed the food here was unmatched. The best. This coming from a girl who is obsessed with Cranberry bogs. I just love all things farming. I found us the largest orchard to visit in the Eugene area and it was spectacular. We came after brunch and walked around for a good while, admiring several of the orchards and trails. If I lived in the area I'd be here every single day. I typically walk 6-8 miles a day and nearly everyone here had a four legged friend with them, it felt like a little slice of heaven on earth. The trails were so peaceful and serene, the river flowing through in the back. It was complete tranquility. Great bird watching too! It's hard to believe a place so beautiful is free. I am most appreciative for the opportunity to spend some time here.

There is a Thai place, a tiny Mexican place, a Greek place, a burger place with a bar, and a candy store. Downstairs there is a deli that has sandwiches, soups, and salads. We all ordered something from different places. I had the Greek plate, which was a skewer with about 5 bite-size pieces of chicken - certainly not even an entire chicken breast worth, rice and salad (romaine lettuce, onion, a couple of olives and cherry tomatoes) with dressing. Pretty bland, and not worth the price. My son had a burger and fries and it took so long that by the time it came out, we were all done with our dinner. None of us liked what we ate. A couple of my friends had cocktails and they thought they were very good. Other meals to my friends included the Poutine Fries; The breaded pork chop (schnitzel) and the shrimp pasta. One person had the hard cider and enjoyed that, and then of course, at the end of the meal, they have these delicious little chocolates two of us had them and one person had the chocolate pot re crème. I had heard about it from friends and so my partner and I first tried it out and were highly impressed with the food, the servce and the ambiance. The menu is just a bit limited but between the specials and the menu offerings, there was plenty to choose from. Above all, what they do, they do very well. I and my partner ate at Rye three nights ago and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience in every way. AMBIENCE... The dining room is terrific. Lots of dark wood. The lighting of the room is especially conducive to privacy but not isolation. Inasmuch as it was raining to beat the band when we arrived, entering felt like a welcoming respite. The patrons' chatter was subdued but clearly they were having a great time. FOOD... We ordered cocktails (I enjoyed a Cocchi Rye whiskey cocktail which was delicious. The French onion soup I ordered was also very tasty and loaded with mozzarella atop the cup. I then dived into a "special" plate of a Chinook salmon fillet, finished perfectly and sitting on a bed or pureed squash. Excellent, I thought. Afterwards, we shared some sort of fruity pastry, sharing with two forks. SERVICE... From where I sat I could watch the bar activity, even the service window into the kitchen allowed me to watch all the activity. Our server was very efficient and cheerful and engaging without being overbearing in any way. AFTERTHOUGHTS: I will be coming back, of course. Rye is where you want to go to have a very good time eating out. You're not going to spend an arm and a leg to eat there but Rye is definitely not Denny's. I think this was my fourth trip there and all four times I felt thoroughly satisfied in every way.
