Dare I say it's worth making a trip just to Belgium or Liège for this opportunity alone... allow me to explain Throughout my visit in Belgium I was on a quest for the best waffle. When I arrived on Monday and it was closed one might think that I would be disappointed, but I was all the more encouraged to see that the place was closed only for its employees to be hard at work preparing for their beloved customers the following days. This particular business has three different establishments: 1- A classic waffle shop, 2- A pastry and waffle shop 3- A fry shop On all three accounts this will be the best treats that I have had in a long time, but what makes it even more special are the people and the service. One family owns all of these, and they made me fall in love with Belgians! They generously explained everything from the Classic Liege waffle, the speculoos cookies, cone of fries etc. I can't wait wait to come back for more. :)

You order outside while they are making the waffles and they are ready in a couple of minutes. Flavors include: vanilla (regular), chocolate infused (small bar of chocolate is inserted into a warm waffle and it melts) or cinnamon. Walked by, saw so many sweets on display, how could one not resist? Cute displays of Liege waffles (looked like they won an award before), macarons, cakes, all colorful and inviting. I walked inside the shop just to admire more. Shop person didn't speak much English but said welcoming greetings in French. We don't need to speak the same language to feel welcomed. I really wanted to try their waffles but it was getting too close to lunch time. I purchased a dozen macarons to take home. I also really wanted to try their cakes, but I couldn't take home. I gave a dozen macarons to my friend when I got home and she really enjoyed them. I wish my French was fluent to express my gratitude to them with more words. I was really stressed at that time. Been surrounded by so many colorful sweets and their friendly smiles, they helped me become less tense. I left the shop with smiles, all I could say to them was "Merci beaucoup".

The people working there are always welcoming and smiley which makes me always wanna go back there, i never buy my croissant, pain au chocolat or waffles anywhere else because it is the best place i have gone to for a veeeery long time and it is hard to get better quality things with such an awesome service!! The waffles won some kind of award and apparently the royal family order from this bakery too. For my birthday i went and got myself a cake which was the first cake i tried from there and it was delicious! Good bakery with good printen. Many locations so easy to access…read more (Note - When I was here in the Summer of 2018 I conducted a blind printen tasting test of 7 different local printen cookies. We did the blind tasting twice (on different days). Four locals from Aachen and 2 from the USA were involved. We compared the basic printen cookie (no nuts, icing, or chocolate). Across the two blind tasting tests Moss and Lambertz consistently came out on top, with van den Daele a very close 3rd. Dreuven was of note - although people did not rate the basic Dreuven printen cookie highly, people very VERY much liked the Dreuven with icing (princess) or with nuts or chocolate (of course were not part of the tasting test but they were available in the room). Nobis was consistently in the middle. For the tasting test we unfortunately did not have Klein cookies available but everyone noted that they did very much like Klein. And of course, there were notable differences across the tasters. I myself KNOW that van den Daele is the best, but many people mistakenly preferred other shops. In the end, it was clear that each person has to try printen from many different stores to find their own favorite(s). That such a relatively large number of different printen stores have existed for so long also suggests stable between-person differences in printen preference.)
