As soon as you walk onto the street, there's a line of people waiting to order at this tiny bakery stall! I got the classic vanilla waffle and coconut chocolate covered marshmallow to try, and the waffle was perfectly soft; warm, pillowy and slightly crunchy on the outside. The coconut marshmallow was alright, it was nothing amazing, just a chocolate covered marshmallow on a biscuit/cookie. The worker I spoke to, a blonde man, was so patient and happy to explain what each dessert was even though it was so busy! Definitely a must visit/try in Liège! read more

It MUST be said: this is my favorite place I've been in years! I know Yelp is not a common platform in Europe, but I will shout from the roof of any place that will listen that tourists, residents, and anyone for that matter MUST visit. Dare I say it's worth making a trip just to Belgium or Liège for this opportunity alone... allow me to explain Throughout my visit in Belgium I was on a quest for the best waffle. When I arrived on Monday and it was closed one might think that I would be disappointed, but I was all the more encouraged to see that the place was closed only for its employees to be hard at work preparing for their beloved customers the following days. This particular business has three different establishments: 1- A classic waffle shop, 2- A pastry and waffle shop 3- A fry shop On all three accounts this will be the best treats that I have had in a long time, but what makes it even more special are the people and the service. One family owns all of these, and they made me fall in love with Belgians! They generously explained everything from the Classic Liege waffle, the speculoos cookies, cone of fries etc. I can't wait wait to come back for more. :) read more

The hype is REAL. These are the most ethereally divine waffles that we have ever had in our lives. Honestly, we may never eat waffles again after eating here because: why bother? One Gaufrette etc. kind of has a little conglomerate in this area, so we're not even sure exactly which location we're leaving a review for, but whatever because we went to both. at the first location (adjacent to their ice cream parlor) we got one sugar waffle, one cinnamon one, and one of their fruit ones (cherry). When we got outside we saw the OTHER location, across the street and immediately feared that we were missing out on waffles, so went to that location as well. *THIS IS THE LOCATION YOU WANT* and for one very simple reason: they offer to hear up your waffles for you. TAKE THEM UP ON THAT OFFER and change your life. We got one sugar and one cinnamon all crisped up and sat down on a bench back on the other side of the street and DEAR GOD you have never had a waffle until you have had this HEATED/CRISPED waffle. It's hard to describe: almost like a sweet bread but in crispy waffle form with the pearl sugar and words fail us. The cinnamon one is the best, and obviously we ate the "room temp" ones as well, but the heated ones are NEXT LEVEL. Here's why we're landing on four stars: after coming back to earth after polishing off the "regular" waffles, we started in on the cherry one and just: NON. It was soggy, limp, and honestly, just plain gross. But the worst part was that when one of us but into it, she hit a pit!! Zut alors! She went back into the shop to let them know (merely as a cautionary tale for other Belgians' teeth, speaking in half decent French [shoulder; dust; even knowing the word "noyaux"!!!!] but they were unfazed. Ah well. Anyway, long story short, stick to the good stuff. And then go up and down Montagne de Bueren, which is just around the corner, to offset your indulgences. read more

Great little bakery in Liège! Be prepared to wait in line as it's very popular, and for good reason too. The waffles here are the stars of this bakery, but they have many other baked goods as well, and they all look fantastic. It's not cheap, but everything here is very good quality. We got a fresh waffle, two bags of already made mini waffles, and 5 thin waffle salted caramel cream sandwiches. The salted caramel waffle sandwiches were amazing! I have discovered this bakery on Facebook and doled for months over their pictures... until we could finally go to Liège and visit it by ourselves :P :D The first thing is that the store is extremely small.
