I highly recommend Sea Pines over any other rehab facility in Brevard County

Sea Pines prior to Encompass Health was an amazing place to heal and get back into life after…read moresurgery or a traumatic injury or relearning how to walk. Now I would never step foot in that place again nor would I allow a loved one to go there. Night is pure hell with mean nurses who are abusive to patients telling them to shut up and go to bed when wanting a blanket, to arguing over medications, failing to give medications. The pain doctor literally lied to me for 5 days and was confrontational with me when I requested a new doctor as he was not helping me so I could be successful. The PT staff are highly untrained and do not know how to use key pieces of equipment that help someone relearn to walk. It's become about pushing people to hit goals they set and pushing them out the door to flip the bed for another patient. I received a letter of apology the day I left that should have been given to me 5 days earlier so I would have known the plan and regardless the plan laid out in the letter of apology was not followed and the abuse continued until I walked out the door. I left with more new injuries than I arrived with and am still to this day healing from the damage they did by not listening and pushing my body beyond it's limits especially when no one had even bothered to find out why I suddenly lost the ability to walk after an MRI while I was in the hospital which was wrong to begin with and then to push someone in that situation to flip a bed is insane. Their website says the average stay is 14 days...They tried to get me out in 7 which even my insurance was against and then only gave me a few extra days telling me insurance wouldn't approve longer all the while my insurance wanted me there longer. I was sent home wheelchair bound and to never be alone. I live in a 2 story home and home alone 90% of the time. I requested a step down facility so I would be safer and more functional when returning home and was chewed out for asking. I was not safe nor ready to be sent home. Home health was not happy I was home in the state I was in either but what could we do? This is no longer a place of healing.....it's a bed flipping money grab. Some of us have extremely debilitating diseases that require more time than others and different approaches to achieve success something 7 years ago Sea Pines was great for. Today RUN stay away and if your loved one is telling you nurses and techs are being mean to them, listen because they are as I witnessed it and was treated horribly and have an apology letter from the CEO to boot granted the abuse continued and I felt singled out and retaliated against as well.

I wouldn't recommend this place at all if you have someone who is elderly or suffering from…read moresomething such as a stroke or something similar. The place is not up to code in any manner dusty and rusty is what I saw walking in. The nurse even told me the pictures for the website for 20-25 years old. If you could modernize the place and fix it up so it isn't too much of a shit-hole I'm sure it would be a better place for those who are needing it.

Filthy floor with balls of dust around the floor, rude personnel, not all nurses are trained to deal with surgical dressings from open back surgery patients. Waited a day to see a wound nurse( my wound was draining). Nurses assistants get mad when asked for help when and if they show up to the room. No clue how a back brace works. Drs are not onsite everyday. FOOD: Apple juice was mixed with water maybe they wanted to save money for who knows what, no menu to select your food, 2 slices of bread with 1 slice of turkey ham "sandwich" for dinner, no ensure only an unknown at least for me nutritional drink. An employee suggested me to ask for more than one ginger ale so I can save them for the night. They had no ginger ale at night because the kitchen was closed. All kitchens close at night but they should have a fridge available. BATHROOM: my main concern. The toilet was not a high handicap toilet, it was a standard toilet. No grab bars and there was a bathtub with old vomit or maybe poop, it was a brown circle around the drain. No shower chair or equipment to take a shower. Spent 3 days there before being able to leave and never took a shower, I had to use towels myself to at least clean my upper body. HOSPITAL BED: Old and with a malfunction that ended up braking. The bed was changed after someone tried to "fix" it. The other bed was not any better. DON'T stay in this place, it should be closed. I'm amazed how the government let this place open.

The staff was warm and welcoming to mom and they did not hard sell or push her into anything. It was all about the facts and finding what she wanted. The benefits for future care were very appealing to her and despite being hesitant to make new friends in a community. She has flourished. Each time I stop by or call she is at dinner with new friends, running around the area or telling me about the new work out she did in the gym today. I found my mom is much happier and calmer now. She feels safe at BVE and not lonely. She has more time to work on her hobbies now doesnt worry about the future. Personally I found the staff is always so nice and caring. To them they are family and they treat them as family. I highly recommend anyone looking to take a tour with Debby Williams. She was great. Thanks Bill R
