They have a great lunch counter in the back with soups, salads and wraps and sandwiches. I didn't get to try them this time but I will be back to give it a go next time. The pastries looked great still haven't tried mine yet as it's to early to start diving in to the sweets but they had some great options. I would return here as it's super close to me

I bought 3 croisants and a packet of crepes and asked if he usually had baguettes, as I recalled he had. He said yes, but because of the holiday they had sold out early. I thanked him and on my way out he handed me a baguette. I said "what is this?" He said he had put it aside to take home himself but gave it to me instead and said it was free of charge, and then he walked in the back. I was dumbfounded. I have never met such a generous shop-owner in my life, who truly cares about his clients satisfaction. Thank you kind owner of this bakery. You deserve all the wonderful things in life! I arrived at the Lafrenaie location inside the Roaster's which has its own entrance on Atwater Ave on my sister's birthday. Moreover, I was looking for a last minute cake. There were several options available but I needed assistance. All the while FaceTiming my mom and sending pictures of cakes to my brother in law, Roxanne waited and smiled patiently and even chipped in with recommendations. We finally came to an agreement and she offered to personalize the cake and asked me if I was going to eat it that evening or the next day because the strawberries would be frozen . She went in the back and replaced all the frozen berries on top pf the cake for fresh ones so that we could enjoy it the same day. She went above and beyond and exceeded my expectations. This whole experience was totally 5 STARS !!!!

If you happen to be in Quebec Province and travelling from Montreal to Quebec City or vice versa, there are several towns you might stop in to get a cross sectional sample of history, from Chambly, a synthetic, plant and just add water instant suburb in the middle of a corn field, to Cowansville and Waterloo, Bromont and Shefford, places that are seeing tradition eclipsed by suburban sprawl, are still mainly agricultural, and are seeing some hard times, but as they will tell you, hard times are nothing new for these towns that started as pioneer settlements four centuries ago. In any case, to get a sense of all this, I would recommend stopping in at the local boulangerie in any of these towns, getting an elaborate pastry such as tartelette aux fruits, milles feuilles, napoleon, paris-brest, chocolatine or just an eclair with a great cup of coffee, capuccino, espresso, tea, or your choice of caffeinated beverage, and look out the window as people walk by and take you through a story both fascinating and sad at the same time. If you can, buy a loaf of bread to take with you, and if you are feeling forgetful you might neglect to realize this until you are safely back at home.

Their pastry selections are not as extensive as PM and they don't have much of a prepared foods counter. There is a small cafe on the side and their hibiscus and lavender iced tea in the summer is kinda great. Ambiance is gentrified rustic I guess.
