Called Avenal Lube and Tire and Benny answered, and replied they had at least one of the tires in the size we needed. We left the trailer and ran both rims to Avenal Lube and Tire, just over the hill from Interstate 5. Turned out that with some digging both Ben and Benny found two tires. Benny immediately started working on the first tire while Ben found the second in the shop. We had both tires replaced on the rims within about 30 minutes and were headed back to the boat trailer. 5/13/2024: While driving on i-5, my tire popped after I hit a strange object that was in the middle of the road that looked like a black brick. Since it was getting late, the nearest Costco was already closed & there were not many tire shops nearby that were still open either. I first called a different shop that told me they didn't have my size of tire in stock, but to try this shop instead as I might have better luck here. Avenal Lube and Tire was already closed when I called - and long closed by the time I arrived - but they still checked their stock anyway, and offered to help me out since the size of tire that I needed was in stock here! I am astonished at how kind their heart was to show up after hours just to save me from a difficult situation. I am forever grateful to them for coming to my rescue as I had been racking my brain on what options I still had at this late hour and was coming up short. They were extremely efficient and their prices are excellent as well, they truly just want to help you get home safely. Go here.] While making the absolute marathon of a drive from Las Vegas to San Francisco, our back left tire blew about an hour or 90 minutes north of Bakersfield. Neither of us is familiar with that area at ALL, and with the sun setting and another almost-200 miles to go that night, we were low-key panicked. Our car doesn't have room to store a spare, and on top of that, the tires we usually get are specialty tires: sporty and of the run-flat variety-- so we were on the phone with tire places within a huge radius to see if they could swap our blown one out in time for us to make it home, and everyone we spoke to estimated a week turnaround time. Eventually, the extremely kind guy driving the tow truck our insurance sent showed up and mentioned that he knew of two tire/auto body shops somewhat nearby that stayed open late on Fridays. Avenal Lube and Tire was one of them-- Benny answered the phone, said he actually HAD the specialty tires we needed, and said they'd stay open for us to get there. We got there around 9pm. Ben and Martin in particular were memorably friendly. They checked our other back tire without us asking and found that it was about to blow also, so they replaced BOTH for us on the spot. They were quick, checked the alignment, checked the pressure in the front tires, and had us back on our way home within an hour of our arrival at their shop. They could have charged us too much or taken advantage of knowing how far from home we were or that they were saving us from needing to find a hotel, but they really just wanted us to get home safely and quickly. The wheel studs on my back left side completely sheared off. My wheel and tire flew off my car, leaving me stranded just before Kettleman City on my way down to SoCal. Martin and his crew are some of the most honest, kind, and hard-working people I've met recently. When my tire blew out on I-5 passing Wasco, I had no idea what to do. After making it to the side of the road and finding out that my AAA coverage wouldn't take me all the way back home, I asked the tow truck driver if there were any shops in the vicinity that could do a tire repair--and it was already 7 PM on a Friday! My friend was driving down to the central coast from Chico and found herself with a flat tire outside of Avenal. With an unresponsive road assistance service I called Avenal Tire from my home in Solvang trying to get her some help. I spoke to Ben and he was there almost immediately. After sitting in the dark until dawn with semis whizzing by, we were so relieved when Martin pulled up. We had a tire blowout on i5 near avenal. They were quick to come pick us up with a tow truck which was nice. HOWEVER, the driver had no mask when we asked him to wear one while riding in his truck. Then they sold us 9 year old tires AND destroyed the beads trying to install them. The two tires they sold us were trashed by the time we got to LA and I eventually had to get new tires again. I see all great reviews here but be weary since they are obviously not trained properly to do their jobs correctly and are also inconsiderate. read more

I had booked a local hotel in Kettleman while stranded on Hwy 5 where he dropped me at on the way to their yard which I was very appreciative as sitting on the side of the Hwy with Semi Trailers whizzing past me for 3 hrs can be a little daunting. We were in a bad accident and the rental car company said they were gonna send us a truck to pick up the old car and also drive us back to the rental place to get a new rental. This guy drives up - we quickly find out he wasn't sent by our rental company - then he insists everything is fine and we will be taken care of - I make sure to confirm multiple times he is going to take us to the airport to get a new car... Something Hertz woild happily taken care of had we told this ambulance chaser to kick rocks. Next think we know all of our stuff is on the side of the road and he is trying to squeeze is for $200 to get to hertz. read more

My parents hit a pothole on the way from the Bay Area and blew out their tire. Luckily they were referred here by the towing company. My wife and I were driving from San Francisco to LA and we got a flat tire around 8pm on a Friday night. I called BMW assist as well as our roadside assistance from our car insurance provider. Both of them told us the same thing, they can at best tow the car to a nearby dealership and we'd have to wait until morning to get a new tire (The BMW 3 series has run flats and doesn't come equipped with a spare). Exhausted and frustrated I went into Denny's to grab a bite to eat and happened to ask the waitress there if she knew of anyone who could help. She gave me Ben's number and when I called, he picked up the very first time (even though it was 8:30pm on a Friday night at this point). He asked us to meet him at his shop which he opened up just for us, changed our tire, charged us a very reasonable price and we were on our way to LA within an hour. There is not enough to say about Avenal lube and tire in this space. Martin and Ben have been my go to guys since I arrived in California 4 years ago. May I add also that I live 100 miles from their shop in Bakersfield. They are my mechanics as well as my friends. Although the business name does not state it, they also do all mechanical repairs as well. They have kept both my vehicles which are both 15 years old and have over 250,000 miles on them in top running shape, at a very fair price, while always putting honesty first as well as pride in their work. As a man i feel very comfortable sending my wife here for repairs while I am away at work knowing she is not going to get disrespected or a laundry list or unnecessary repairs to pad a bill.
