We actually happened upon it on accident as we were walking around and then we came back our last day. Beautiful Park lots of things to see. The fountain is amazing just gorgeous huge fountain lots of birds there. Great place for pictures right beside the fountain or up the stairs to the fountain. Lots of musicians and street performers around the park. I really am a bird fanatic so I was thrilled to see so many wild parakeets in the park. There are people feeding the parakeets bird seeds and you put some in your hand and they'll land in your hand and eat there. I loved it. There are some homeless people and one of them kind of threw a insane fit while we were there but no one was hurt he kicked over a barrier and was yelling at people. But that can happen anywhere just use caution anywhere you go. There is neat statues and there's also a little lake or pond where they had people renting rowboats we didn't do that but that looked like fun.

Some breathtaking views. Must visit! We did it two times because the first time we rushed before closing time and like a knucklehead i accidently deleted all of our photos.

Parc Güell is an attraction you MUST go to when in Barcelona!…read more This park is HUGE. Definitely plan to be here for 2 hrs to walk around & enjoy each part. We ended up going to visit twice this trip, at night. Last year, I went early in the morning. I suggest going either early in the morning or around sunset. During the day, it gets pretty crowded and very hot. This park was originally intended to become a luxury garden city with 60 houses, however, only two houses ended up being completed. Parc Güell is still my favorite works designed by Antoni Gaudi. I recommend buying tickets ahead of time but the tickets are more readily available to purchase than Sagrada Família. I was able to buy tickets for our second visit the night before, without issues. Transportation: I booked a ride via Cabify rideshare and it drops off right by the entrance of Carretera de la Carmel (east side). I highly recommend leaving the park from this side too; easiest to call a cab, as other exits you have to walk down a bit due to car restricted access.

Covering 2,900 hectares, the park is on the edge of the Garraf Massif, just inland of the Sitges-Vilanova stretch of the Costa Daurada coast. Most of the park consists of a mountainous plateau of carboniferous limestone which rises to around 460m (1,500ft), while the edge of the park on the Penedès plain is formed from sedimentary rocks. For such a small area the park contains great biodiversity. The mixture of landscape, lake and coastal and mountain climate sustains Holm-oak and pine forests, extensive myrtle groves, and rough pastures and vineyards on the edge of the park. This provides a home for an extensive fauna of insects, fish, birds and reptiles. The park is criss-crossed by several long distance walking paths. These provide good hiking for those with reasonable stamina and walking experience: a return trip from Sitges or Vilanova to Castellet will involve a walk of around 25-30km (16-20 miles) and climbs of around 750m (2,400ft). Public transport within the park is extremely limited and the rocky paths include some steep climbs, with few places to shelter or find food or water. In summer, the sun is fierce and temperatures can top 35C in the shade, so spring and early autumn are the best times for walking. Historic interest is catered for in the castles of Castellet (10th century) and Penyafort (12th century), as well as several small hamlets with mediaeval shrines and chapels, while the area is also littered with the remains of old farmsteads, caves and seasonal springs. Trains on line 4 of Barcelona's suburban railway system between Vilafranca del Penedès and El Vendrell stop at L'Arboç and Els Monjos, both just outside the south western and northern extremities of the park respectively, otherwise you'll need your own transport to access the park via the BV-2115 or BV-2117 roads, or hike in from the surrounding area on one of the long distance footpaths. Today it contains museums, the Olympic Ring from the 1992 Olympic Games, a castle, gardens, a fountain, cable car, and more. A tour guide drove my husband and me to this park. We enjoyed the panoramic views of the city buildings and the sea. Our tour guide explained that a Jewish cemetery was built into the hill. Overall, I would not call Parc de Montjuic a must-see, but it was nice to see.

There's a big highway along much of the route. Below ground level, but not covered as in town. You're heading towards the end of the L3 line. The park is worth the trip. Fabulous gardens, the maze, and 200+ year old buildings. Some statuary shows its age, but that adds to the charm. If you're over 65, admission is free.
