Terrible customer service. Tried to get a hold of someone for more than two months and nobody bothered to call us back. When we finally did get a hold of someone, the owner was condescending and less than helpful. Will be looking for a different archery range that offers better customer service. Been to this place a couple times and the overall customer service is poor. Three weeks ago I went in and purchased 6 arrows, they were suppose to cut them down and fletch them. I called them a week after buying the arrows and they had no clue what I was talking about, they didn't think I paid for them? After explaining to him that I already bought them he said he would get on it and let me know when they are done. Till this day i have yet to receive an email or text on my 100$ arrows. These guys are piss poor, capras in Blaine is such a better store. I am very unhappy about average joes, I would not recomend them to anybody. read more

I started going to Joes 2 months ago after I bought a brand new PSE DNA online from a DIFFERENT DEALER in a different state. During the tuning we found an issue with the bow and they are a PSE dealer. So even though I bought it somewhere else Joe Tom Andy and Dave all stepped up and got my issues handled beyond what I had expected. I have read a few reviews from people saying they have been scolded and talked down to. I have heard that tone of voice a few times and you know what? It's to keep the other patrons safe. Bows are not guns but they are deadly none the less. Pay attention to the rules, follow them and they are more than helpful and respectful. The shooting range is very adequate and I haven't found another inside range that reaches to nearly 40 yards. They also do a huge 3d league on Thursdays and Fridays which is a ton of fun. Overall I really enjoy going there. The regulars are easy to talk to, they have some great technicians and will help you tune your bow and answer any questions you have. Overall I have been very happy going there and hanging out and shooting and chatting with people. I highly recommend them. read more

I'm truly baffled that are two five star reviews here, especially one from a woman. I came here with two friends, a married couple (this is relevant later), we even had a reservation for two rentals and three lanes (I have my own bow). We showed up 5 minutes late for our hour and a half rental period. Got lectured for being late and he made a big ordeal about how he supposed he could find us room. Again, we had a reservation for three from 3:30-5pm, there should have been room already. Not to mention there was only two other people shooting. Plus apparently our timing was bad as junior league started soon and we'd have to make room for the kids. Good information to have had when we made the reservation, too bad we didn't get it then. I have a trad bow, which needs stringing, Ron offered once to string it for me when I first walked in. I declined. When I went to string my bow, he offered again, I declined again. He then took my bow out of my hands and did it for me. WTF?! He explained that women often have trouble stringing their bows and not to worry about it. I questioned his sanity at saying that and then handing me my weapon back (silently). He assumed my friend's husband was her son (he is taller and older than her). He marveled at a different woman's accuracy and ability to grip the bow effectively (because "women have smaller hands so it's harder for them to hold onto the bows well") and did not correct her form when she started shooting with her elbow up in the air, but any of the guys who had bad form got friendly suggestions. When he saw me leaving, with my bow unstrung, he commented with surprise, that he was impressed I got it unstrung on my own. He again grabbed it out of my hands to look at it. My only satisfaction from the day, seeing his eyebrows go up when he realized how strong of a trad bow I shoot and that I had shot round after round on it for an hour or so. If I could give this place negative stars I would. I will never go back and do what I can to prevent others from going as well. Oh, and the lanes are ridiculously narrow, really awkward to notch an arrow when you have no elbow room. I could say more but I think I covered the truly awful, the rest just blended in with the general terribleness of the place (like the kitchen being temporarily shut down due to health code violations). read more

THe day I was supposed to go my friend who I was to go with had her car break down and it was too late once I got the message to go get her and be on time so I called to reschedule and was told I could not. We had a Groupon and were able to reserve a time for the archery experience easily online. It was affordable, easy to learn, and a great first experience. Billy took time to help my husband and I get started even though he technically wasn't scheduled to work. I think everyone should try archery at least once, especially when there are deals out there to make it more affordable. read more

My husband and I went to Average Joes a couple of years ago for our Valentines date. We had never shot bow and arrow and were interested in trying. The 2 Joes were working that night and it wasn't very busy. I should note that this was before they had league 5 nights a week. We were warmly welcomed and outfitted with basic equipment right away. The Joes were super friendly, helpful, and non-judgmental. They gave us tips and even cheered me on when I hit a Robin Hood during the session. They let me keep the smooshed arrows! We are both regular archers even though we no longer live in MN. Compared with what we have access to in IL, Average Joes is awesome. It's hard to find a 40 yard range with 3D interchangeability. I am thankful for such a great first experience which led my husband and I to truly enjoy the sport. We love Average Joes and are happy for the success they have found in Coon Rapids. read more

My son had his 10th birthday party there last year and had a wonderful time with his friends. The instructor was good and the kids had a blast just the space was a little small for them all (about 10 boys). I would definitely have another party here though or just bring the boys back for practice! read more

ABSOLUTEY horrible experience!! We had my sons 9th birthday party there on 2/14/15. The guy assigned to us (paul) totally ruined my sons birthday. He kept threatening the boys that he was going to shut the party down. He chewed out one of the boys for shooting the balloon next to his and said if anyone else does this he is shutting the party down. I questioned him when he said this and I said im not sure the boys knew this was the rule because i didn't..... and in front of all the parents and kids he got VERY confrontational with me and said we can "shut it down right now if you want". I said no its fine lets keep going with the party. They say pop and candy are included??? Never saw any candy and when the pizzas arrived the guy just left with out saying anything!! I had to go find him and he was very short with me and said the pop is in the refrigerator..(like i was suppose to know this). I didn't even know where the refrigerator was. Please do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake and stay far away from this place. read more

We had a terrible experience with Average Joe's Archery. It started yesterday when we went in and asked about target practice. We were told we needed an appointment, so we made a reservation for today at 3. We arrived at 3 and waited behind a couple who were also there to practice. After waiting for 5 minutes the couple went somewhere else. We stated that we were there for our reservation. He (Pete, I believe) pointed to the log and asked if that was us (we appeared to be the only ones listed for 3pm). He told me to sign in and read the rules while he left to help the couple get set up. After waiting for another few minutes, we eventually just went over to the shooting area only to be ignored again. After waiting and watching for a while longer, I went up to Pete? And asked if we should just leave. I am pretty sure our reservation rentals and space were given to the couple in front of us and he was hoping we would just leave. He said it was only him and another person and he was doing the best he could. I get when people are busy, but it doesn't mean it is okay to make customers feel completely unwanted and like they are a nuisance. Keep in mind I am a women with 2 children. I guess Joe's has a fuzzy policy about reservations and doesn't need new customers so I guess we were expendable. My 10 year old even whispered to me that she didn't have a good feeling about this place. I Agreed and decided to just to leave since clearly there was not enough open spaces for us. Save your time and go someplace else that is more family friendly. read more
