I don't usually write reviews however I feel this business went above and beyond to help me and deserves one. I called informing them my AC wasn't working and asked for a quote. They helped me out the same day and got my AC running and cooling. Thank goodness because it was going to be over 100 degrees that weekend. They do not know what they're doing. They had my car from 4 3 weeks and couldn't find the problem, lost my keys, and damaged my car causing my car to overhead. When I went out to tell them about the damages they reply was "Take us to court" My car was Undrivable and had to be towed from this shop. My Prius has overheated and needed major engine repair as oil had leaked to other places. Other mechanics quoted me 3x what I was charged here. Plus, at Avila's they told me what I needed was much less extensive. I went ahead and got a newer engine, had money leftover for tune up and oil change and still less than what I was quoted at other shops. Mr Avila also noticed my valve covers need to be replaced ok what the hell is that I think to myself he explains & explains the process gives me a quote & lets me make a decision he did not pressure me just assured me when I was ready to get that done with them as soon as possible I have finally scheduled an appt with mr Avila for this repair & am happy to be back as a customer. I had 3 problems with this workshop..... Pro:: Communication was good. (in retrospect I think comms have to be good if they want to charge you ridiculously higher prices ) Cons :: a) I was told, after the work on my car was done, that the AC compressor was bad (AC was working fine before going into the shop) and that it would cost me about $700 for compressor and labor.....at a different and much reasonable shop I was told that the compressors was fine! In the end i just ended up adding $35 worth AC PRO Refrigerant (the one that comes with some oil for sealing minor leaks....The compressor ran fine through the summer. b) I later found that I was charged about 35% higher for an engine job. Almost more or equal to Dealer price c) After the major repair I was told that the Downstream O2 sensor had gone bad. I was told that it would cost me about $170 for it. Later on i just did that myself....took $25 for part and anout 15 minutes to change with a tool that one can borrow from Autozone!!! I am not a mechanic myself and I understand that everyone does business for profit but my experience with the AC issue is really turned me off (because I almost had said yes for the shop to go forward with the compressor replacement). Not a very good experience. My short term recommendation is not to use this shop unless yours is a trust-fund car. My long term recommendation (even for myself) would be to go Electric as soon as possible....these shops charge 30-50 % higher for parts, otherwise they will not warranty their work.......so if you have a major job you are pretty much stuck in buying part at a much higher price. ( even if you buy the part from the same shop that these repair shops buy from!) read more

I have had wonderful experiences at this shop. I started by bringing my younger brothers car here for some general maintence; oil change, brakes, tranny flush and they were very reasonable priced, and were able to finish the same day. Second time I came was to bring my business truck (boxed 17' truck) for tranny gasket and valve cover gasket repair. I use my truck daily for work, and need it to complete my work, I explained how much I would appreciate to have the truck done asap, and they made sure to complete the job the same day. Again, job was very reasonable priced. I have been there a couple more times since for different service needs as well with taking my friends truck and we have been pleased every time. I would recommend that is looking for honest and reasonable priced mechanics. Best in town!!!!! read more

This place is a joke. They tried charging me $180 for a 15 minute job. I Needed my u joints replaced for my driveshaft. I told them I will bring the driveshaft and u joints my self out of the car. I said wow $180? He said ya or you can do it yourself. (I don't have the special needle nose tool) or else I would've idiot! ....called a couple other places and ended up going down the street to another shop he charged me $30 and swapped out both u joints in less than 10mins. Places like this over charge you for no reason. THIS IS NOT A HONEST PLACE TO BRING YOUR CAR TOO. YOU MIGHT GET OVERCHARGED. read more

For the service and repair I got, it was way overpriced. Shop around before bringing your car in for service. Will not take my car back to this place!! Avila's had the best auto repair experience that I have had in my life! My car broke down near Tracy on I5 at 1pm while driving up from LA after Christmas. I yelped Avila's and spoke with Eduardo. I was given a great breakdown of what will happen with the repair of my car to diagnose the issue. (Codes, fees, timeframe and etc.) I felt comfortable enough with that conversation that I decided not to call the other 10+ shops that were in the surrounding area. When I arrived at 2p by tow truck, his father who was the mechanic started to work on my Infiniti G35 right away and diagnosed within a short time that it was probably a broken throttle body sensor. It "might" be fixed by the next day....depending on whether the part was available to get. So, in the meantime, they drove my pregnant girlfriend to get lunch and afterwards, dropped us off at the rental car place! We wanted to rent a car to come back next day...we live in SF. It turned out that all the rental car places were fully booked. (I called 6 places and all booked!) So, we had to stay overnight. We woke up the next day and Eduardo called me first thing in the morning saying that the part was available and we would have the car fixed by noon! He called at 11am and said the car was fixed/running great. He actually picked us up from the hotel and took us back to the shop. This was so above and beyond normal service. I was so grateful that everyone at Avila's made this situation a much more calming/comfortable ordeal than what it could have turned out to be. read more
