The staff can't give you a straight answer as to whether it is an addiction program or a mental health program, or both, or whatever. They can't even give you the right address to the house that you will be moving into. They pressure you endlessly into doing things like family therapy even when that is not indicated and your own doctors are opposed to that. They try to recruit you into treatment programs for illnesses and disorders other than the ones that you are diagnosed with, and won't explain why. The house is in disrepair, the doors slam, the toilets don't flush, the kitchen is swarming with ants, the refrigerator is full of old spoiled food that should have been thrown away weeks earlier. The staff are kids who seem like they are in their early 20s at the oldest, and there is no one in charge on a regular basis. I opened the office door to get my medication once and a giant dog jumped up on me - it turned out to just be one of the staffers' pet dogs, not a service animal. When I acted a little bit annoyed about that, she acted like she was about to start yelling at me. I love dogs but some people are afraid of them and would have been scared to death of something like that happening totally randomly. Unfortunately the biggest problem that I have noticed is that when you admit to these programs, there is a lot of bullying that goes on amongst the patients. There are patients who are loud, angry, aggressive, even close to being violent. Anything you say to them, even chitchat, can set them off and make them lose their temper for no reason. They get into intense fights and pick on other patients, and no one does anything about it. You can't even use the common areas of the house because of it. One of the patients yelled at me and told me I couldn't use one of the shared bathrooms in the house because it was near her bedroom and therefore it was just for her to use. She also told me I couldn't make a quiet phone call in my own room during the day. The other patients are afraid of them and hide in their rooms all the time, which kinds of defeats the purpose of being around other people as part of your recovery. You complain to staff and they shrug. DO NOT SEND A LOVED ONE HERE.

If you have dual diagnosis (mental illness alongside substance use disorder) STRONGLY I am recommending you go elsewhere as everyone I have known with addiction issues who has come here has ended up worse after attending. Some dual-diagnosis patients have ended up homeless or back into much more intensive treatment from wild acre, since wild acre arguably set them back milestones in their treatment. In my opinion, rules are inconsistent here and draconian treatment is enforced that does not take into consideration patients desires. Some patients had good experiences, but I know of none with dual diagnosis that did not end up way worse than before attending.

At the time, I had made over 100 phone calls looking for therapists. However, she phoned me back and said she knew of someone and referred me to another therapist. She spoke highly of him, saying she refers her clients to him all the time. I went to him and he didn't just have room on his schedule...he didn't seem to have any other clients, or not very many. This was a red flag, among other red flags including his repeatedly calling me "Honey." He seemed completely incompetent to treat what was bothering me (eating disorder) and I wondered why Ms Wolfe had heaped so much praise on him, except perhaps they may have been pals of sorts. During my third session with this man, he asked me out on a date. I was terrified! I left the office, not knowing what to do! I also felt devastated that such a thing would happen to me. Of course, I did not accept the date. Who was this man? I waited two days, then, phoned him and told him I didn't want to see him anymore. His last words to me were, "I love you." I was shocked and in a few other ways, saddened. I knew in my heart I needed to report him. But where? I phoned back Ms Wolfe. I felt that she should know that this other therapist that she had referred me to was not only unethical, but he had broken the law in a really, really bad way. Her response? Sadly, very typical. She first said, "Maybe you weren't a good match." I continued to tell Ms. Wolfe that what he had done was illegal. Then she said, rather lamely, "You just weren't ready for his energy therapy." I believe Ms. Wolfe should have encouraged me to go to the police. She should have supported me and at least been as shocked as I was. Instead, she defended what was completely illegal behavior on the part of a colleague. I am saddened that therapists refuse to acknowledge the mistakes and misdeeds of other therapists, and instead, they blame the victim. This runs rampant in the profession; it's disgusting, and it needs to change. Based on this, I would not recommend her to anyone.

I had never done it before so have nothing to compare it to but think I can be objective about the service at Cambridge Health which was very good. My accunpuncturist (Marilyn) was friendly and thorough in her questions prior to beginning. Marilyn clearly believes in the medicine of accupuncture and helping people which got through some of my cynicism. She made me feel really comfortable and made sure I didn't have any questions or qualms before starting. I actually don't have any physical issues (knock on the old wood) aside from weak ankles from sports but it turns out that it's best to have accupuncture before you have problems as a preventive health measure. The needles did not hurt (a few stung for a second) and I could actually feel stirrings in my ankles from the needles in my scalp! The appointment lasted about 90 minutes but flew by. I am still not 100% sure about the powers of accupuncture but afterwards I had a feeling of euphoria akin to Peter in Office Space after hypnosis! I also had football practice that night and my previously sore left ankle felt pretty good. I know, it could all be in my head, but I really enjoyed the experience and made a second appointment. I couldn't move or open my eyes, I went on some weird trip. I felt so far away and literally thought I was dying! After the infusion she was annoyed, telling me my reaction was not normal as I'm still totally drugged and panicking. You are supposed to monitor vitals and she did not during or after the infusion. They are supposed to give you 2 hours afterwards to sit and heal and get your bearings, but she was hustling people out as soon as the infusion ended. I was given 5 minutes. She couldn't charge me for all the medicine if I didn't use it, so even though she knew exactly what was going on, she knew I wouldn't die, so she decided to let me suffer to collect her money. They made us prepay and will not refund us the $997 we paid for the first visit. This woman has no background in mental health, shes an anesthesiologist who decided to cash in on the ketamine train. For at least 10 years, I've suffered the physical effects of daytime and nighttime jaw clenching. For several years, I've been experiencing regular 24 hour/day migraines for several days at a time. My headaches, neck and shoulder pain were interfering with my ability to sleep for more than a few hours each night. After the first therapy session, my pain level went from a 10 down to a 2 (on a scale in 1-10). During the 3 weeks following that session, I experienced 2 headaches that each lasted for part of a day and were treatable with ibuprofen. My jaw felt relaxed in a way that I hadn't felt in more than 10 years - the pain, pressure and tension were relieved. My sleep started to improve after 5 years of poor sleep, as I could suddenly fall asleep again after most wakings. A few weeks later, I returned for another session. I can't rate my pain now because the pain is gone. I haven't had a headache or even felt the suggestion of an oncoming headache. I feel occasional tightness in my neck. No headaches.
