I have not had great experiences with mental health professionals in my life and I'd say Dr. Brunell is one of two people who have actually helped me in more than twenty years. His intake process is extremely comprehensive and yes, does mean that it will probably take a few weeks to get a diagnosis and to get started on a treatment plan. Mental health issues are complex and interconnected and his thorough and deliberative approach reflects that complexity. I've had scary and unsuccessful experiences with medications and OCD ERP treatments in the past and he listened to my history attentively and took my concerns seriously. His approach to starting me on a new drug was very slow and conservative and helped me feel relaxed and confident about my treatment plan. His demeanor is more detached and objective than warm and fuzzy, which may not be a good fit for every patient's needs, but works well for me. He is extremely clear about his billing policy up front and while he is less flexible about late or missed appointments than other doctors might be, nothing about his billing practice would come as a surprise. He was patient and understanding when I had an issue with a new insurance policy that required that he wait a few weeks to bill me. The doctor clearly has a reverence for excellence, the truth and getting to the bottom of complex mental health issues, and he's helped me immensely.

I found Dr. Brunell to be both adept at guiding me through the therapeutic options but also collaborative in terms of listening carefully to what was working and what was not. I really owe so much to Dr. Brunell's treatment, guidance and counsel for one of the most difficult times in my life. He was always available when I had breakdowns in my treatment outside of regular meetings. I would highly recommend him.

Dr. Nineberg has saved my life on many occasions…read more I started seeing him almost 20 years ago when I was going through a very deep withdrawal with depression and anxiety. I'll never forget what he said to me on those many occasions I was in his office. "We'll get through this together" I clung to those words with all the strength I could muster and the belief that this man could help me. Since then he has seen the best and worst of me and went out of his way to help me every time. Contrary to another review, I have experienced the man at his most compassionate and caring - he really gives a crap, unlike one or two shrinks that I've had the unfortunate experience of working with. We tried a couple of different medications until we found what worked for me. Now I meet with him every 2 to 3 months to make sure everything is going well. The man is doing his job. No, he does not provide 45 minute therapy sessions, but he does have several psychologists on staff if that is what you need. That is not his job though. The complaints on here are really ridiculous. Yes, you have to pay your copayment. Shocking! Yes, you have to call if you were going to cancel an appointment! Shocking! If you are going to a psychiatrist for anger issues, picking a fight with the office staff is probably not the best idea. That was the funniest and sounds more like a sitcom episode plot than a real experience. He has an awesome car and takes very interesting international trips if you take the time to talk to him. The only thing I do not understand is how he gets away with still only doing telephone appointments in the year 2023. He has a beautiful office in Winchester. I wish he would use it. Otherwise, I would've given five stars.

Thriveworks is one of the most unethical mental health companies I've dealt with. They care far…read moremore about protecting revenue than doing right by their patients. My EAP clearly stated I had 3 free sessions, but their therapist repeatedly told me I had 6 free sessions and even confirmed it with their Regional Director. Based on that information, I continued treatment and attended a 4th session, only to later get charged because the information THEY provided was wrong. When I disputed the charge, the therapist admitted she gave me incorrect information. Despite acknowledging their own mistake, Thriveworks still refused to refund the charge. That tells you everything you need to know about this company's priorities. As for the actual care, I tried two different therapists and the experience was disappointing. One seemed more focused on scheduling additional appointments and pushing prescriptions than providing meaningful support. The whole experience felt transactional instead of patient-centered. Mental health treatment requires trust, transparency, and accountability. Thriveworks failed on all three. There are far better providers out there that actually care about patients instead of squeezing every dollar they can from them.

His heart is pure gold, he's there for his patients, he believes in them (even when they mess up).. He has a passion to help others in a way I haven't seen before in other professionals. I drive over an hour each way to see her and it's been so worth it. I originally went to see Marisa for extreme anxiety and ongoing sleep issues, after trying what felt like every modality out there: somatic exercises, journaling, therapy, BIT, meditation, breath-work...you name it. While many of those helped in their own ways, nothing truly moved the needle for me the way hypnoacupuncture with Marisa has. From my very first session, there was an obvious shift. Even the people around me noticed. After that first session, the tension in my shoulders decreased, and the only way I can describe it is that everything (physically & mentally) felt like it had been taken down a notch.
