The rooms are very spacious and comfortable and the motel is in a good location just a 10-15 minute walk to the restaurants at Ballina. Our newly renovated room had a comfortable bed, bright modern bathroom and a flat screen TV. There was also a well maintained pool area in the motel complex. Tracy is super friendly and the coffee at the little caravan at the front of the hotel is very good. This is a good budget friendly option for a Ballina stay!

The suite was decorated and furnished to a high standard - there was a comfortable lounge with flat screen TV, a dining room with a food preparation area, a good bathroom and a deck/veranda with terrific views. There is also a pool and a small gas Weber BBQ available for your use. Rik is a great host and he was super responsive and quick to answer our queries during our stay. The bathroom has a hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc. this is all at a very low cost. The pool is quite large and quite invigorating. The rain water was colder than the pool. When hotels.com called on my behalf, they denied charging me in the first place. I double and triple checked to be sure I was correct and hotels.com backed this up. In all honestly I'm more than happy with my 5 star review cause there is nothing to fault with this place... I'm thinking that the previous reviewers might be used to the 4 star luxury pub hotels back home in their respected citys lol!! If anyone can find a fault with this 2 star hotel with a single room bed for 1 person with shared bathroom for $27 a night - to a double 2 person room with private bathroom and shower and balcony for $88 a night, pleasd do so. But keep in mind that this is a small town between Grafton & Ballina and that your staying at Pub Hotel not just a hotel :)!! The Bistro had delicous food here aswell, had the fishermans basket myself and was pleased with the outdoor seating area where you could sit down and chill out with a cold beer with the locals :), and everyone says Hello or how are you over here.. a bit like Europe.. am just suprised cause you don't get that from many Sydney siders lol.. All in all I loved my stayed here at Hotel Illawong and on my next visit I won't be staying anywhere else but here :)! !
