We bought 4 pillows from here. Well, well worth the price! Nessa was so super knowledgeable about all the different types of pillows that they have. We got to test them out before we selected the one we wanted. Mind you they are made to order, so for the most part you find one they don't have it in stock at the store. If you are lucky they might, but most of them are made to order. They tell you 4-6 weeks, but 1 of our 4 was shipped out the very next day! 2 more shipped out a week later. I am still waiting on 1, but that is because I selected one pillow for a slide sleeper and it was different from the other 3. I love our Avocado Green pillow because we are able to stuff it to the firmness we wanted with the extra fill it comes with. You can choose from standard or side-sleeper. It is so pretty inside I was inspired! Now to go get the stuff to change my room! On the way out...don't forget to ask for a cup of Kombucha or Cold Brew. It was yummy! Such a frustrating experience - just trying to buy replacement pillowcases turns into a 3 month ordeal of multiple trips to the store and trying to get online support. None of which has been helpful and has only complicated the process. This whole experience started off negative from my first store visit. I arrived 20 minutes before closing which got me an icy reception. There were maybe 5 employees there and it was clear that nobody was happy about me walking in. Their demeanor was so confusing I even asked if they were closed, even though I checked the hours. Had they asked they would've known I was just there for a quick pickup but after seeing there were no pillowcases in stock I had to approach the group that were just sitting there staring into their laptops. So one of them placed my order online and lo and behold it's the wrong size. This is just the beginning of it, if the company wants to "investigate" they can refer to my back & forth emails with Aura, who I'm not even sure is an actual human. We've purchased 4 Avocado mattresses plus furniture from Avocado on Girard Ave in La Jolla. So we have been loyal customers, spending a thousands of dollars and have gotten no help in return. We have a problem that I've tried to resolve since purchasing two mattresses over a year ago. The store employees have refused to help me get the information I need to contact the company who came and installed the platform and electrical for a system that raises and lowers the mattresses. Avocado's response is it's not their problem and say I need to contact a subcontractor instead. The sub is not able to help. They should step in an work with the sub to give me the information I need. After all they contact them regularly for work installing their merchandise. read more

Sarah and the La Jolla store location are really great, it was a 5-star-worthy visit! Unfortunately, the Avocado Green Mattress company as a whole has some major lead time and/or communication issues at the moment. I didn't expect lead times to be short for these hand-made products! BUT, for high-end and expensive products like these, I do expect the lead times to be accurate, and the communication about product shipment to be prompt and helpful. My experience along those lines, has been anything but a 5-star experience so far. Might be better to under-promise, and over-perform, Avocado! When the Organic Waterproof Mattress Protector - Full - Standard Pocket online says "Ready to ship in 1 - 3 business days," and I've now been waiting for 7+ business days, 5 of those business days with me searching for answers, I can't help but be incredibly frustrated. The Avocado Green Mattress warranty page seems to imply when saying "Protect your investment with a mattress protector." that the mattress protector is key to having warranty protection if something goes wrong. That makes me feel it's in my own best interest to protect my $2000+ mattress investment by waiting to use it until after I receive the mattress protector. BUT the mattress was delivered almost a week ago now and is going unused. Not sure where to look at this point to get actual answers. Will the mattress protector finally be shipped in a few days? Or will it be a few weeks? Months? I have absolutely no idea, which is the problem. read more

We've spent well over $15,000 on mattresses at a local Avocado store over the last ten years. We have a problem with a fairly new remote and controlled bed (2) and would like someone from the company to come outand fix the problem. The local company is hard to get any help from and they don't answer the phone.You must drive to the store to speak in person to a rep. They refer you to support which refers you to the manufacturer. It is upsetting and a poor business model. We won't buy any more mattresses from them and won't recommend them to friends anymore either. read more

Received a replacement mattress pad. Quality is very nice. But....pad is almost 8" too long and 5" too wide. They say we should take it to a laundromat (our machine is too small at home) and wash it several times and bring it home in a plastic trash bag as it shouldn't be put in the dryer. Then it should shrink enough. Really? Think they messed up and are trying to find a way not to replace it. Logic is totally missing here. read more

While these products are beautiful and made of quality materials, I unfortunately WOULD NOT recommend purchasing from this company. Here are the reasons why: 1. Very poor communication: We were first disappointed with the overall lack of communication and the extended delay in delivery. Our initial delivery took 11 weeks from order date, although we had been reassured throughout that the delay (due to Covid) would take about 5 weeks max. I did appreciate that they sent us 2 complimentary pillows for this extended delay and they were very kind on the phone. 2. Incorrect/Damaged Delivery x2: Our first delivery attempt we were sent a defective headboard, incorrect duvet insert size, 1 improperly assembled night stand, and 1 damaged night stand. Our second "redo" delivery attempt we were sent another defective headboard and they unfortunately damaged the other night stand. At this point we are awaiting our THIRD delivery attempt for this order placed in June and very little has been offered as a remedy. 3. It is VERY difficult to get in contact with with customer service: There is no phone number to contact making it extremely difficult to get issues taken care of (especially if you work normal business hours). If you miss their call, they will not leave a return number. When attempting to contact the team via the messaging system, it can take almost a week to get any response at all. Overall, if you are a very lucky person and do not think you will need customer service's help at all, then purchase here. Otherwise, do not waste your time and money. At this point, the amount of hours we had to take off of work for the numerous deliveries is almost more than the initial product price! read more

I'm Rating The Company here, not the topper. BEWARE! They told me in store that you can return their products after a 25 day trial. I wanted to return my topper after sleeping on it just two nights because it was too hard. I contacted them a few days after trying it and asked to return it (and by the way, you cannot call them, there is no phone number, you have to email them and wait for DAYS for a response). They then said that the return policy was 30 days and that I'd actually have to wait 30 days to start a return. Ridiculous! So, I packed up the topper so it wouldn't get dirty or damaged and stored it in my house for 3 weeks! Then, I emailed them to start a return. I waited days and days for a response... Watch out, the Avocado Green people are very tricky and SNEAKY despite how much information you give, such as the purchase date, the item you want to return, the order #, the total amount paid, where you bought it, etc., they ignore it all and email you back (and you get a different person each time) with an answer to each question individually, one email at a time, if that. Basically you have to email over and over again in order to just start a return. THEN THEY PULL THIS ON YOU... They tell you that they don't take returns at the store, that they donate the items and they tell you that they will pick up the item for donation. Ok, so another emai. Then after more days of waiting for a response they told me that I had to take photos of the mattress topper, front and back and at the seam showing the tag and send those photos to them for approval to return. Then, after more days of waiting for a response they tell you that they can't pick it up and that you will have to arrange to have it donated. You can donate it to a charity of your choice or to a charity that they recommend. BEWARE, I was smart and chose their charity. I was certain that if I donated to a charity of my choice that they wouldn't believe me. My trust of them was completely absent at this point. Then after more days of waiting for a response I got the name and phone # of their charity, a private citizen, not a big charity that provides official receipts, etc. Then after more days of waiting for a response I was told that I had to take photos of the item AGAIN, to make sure it was clean and not damaged after being stored in my house for three weeks and photos of it being put into the donator's truck for proof of donation!!! Again, I was smart, not only did I take photos of the item, I recorded the donor and I talking and walking to her truck, and then photos of her, her truck, her license plate and photos of the return item being put into her truck and of it securely inside the closed door of the truck. This was embarasing, but necessary. I wanted PROOF so that they couldn't have any reason not to refund me fully. All of this caused me great stress, took a huge amount of my time, and was extremely frustrating. Avocado Green Mattress Co. is TERRIBLE, SNEAKY, SHADY AND CROOKED. My in-store experience was great. The product was amazingly comfortable, and I was able to buy a mattress in under an hour. The associate wasn't pushy either which l appreciated. While I as checking out in the store, I was told I would get my mattress in 4-5 business days via FedEx. My mom had just ordered a mattres from Avocado a few days prior and had already recieved hers so I was expecting my mattress in... 4-5 business days. It took 7 weeks for the mattress to arrive :) The real kicker is my brother ordered an Avocado mattress 2 weeks after I did, and he recieved his mattress in... 4-5 business days! After his mattress arrived, I contacted customer service to see what was going on. It had been 3 weeks at this point and my tracking number had not been updated since I purchased the product. Avocado said the shipping partner had it, the shipping partner (who I had to call myself) said Avocado had it. Fedex was nowhere to be found, despite having to manually click "deliver via Fedex" when I purchased the mattress in store. Finally in week 6, I threated to report the transition as fraud and amazingly the mattress was sent to the shipping partner the next day!!! Crazy how that works. 7 weeks after it was ordered, the matress made its harrowing 1 hour journey south. The shipping partner keep sending me text messages that "my cabinets" were on their way which was confusing but I am excited to report, the mattress showed up, and it is very comfortable. Great product but don't expect it anytime soon. read more

Their mattresses are great, the one we have is not only comfy but truly non toxic, my constant sinus infections stopped after sleeping on this. I love their mattress. Having searched mattresses online, reading up on different types and checking reviews....I was convinced that an Avocado Green Organic mattress is what I should purchase....but just ordering without actually seeing had me hesitating. Alas, an Avocado Green store is located in La Jolla!!! My concerns about going into a mattress store during the pandemic were quickly laid to rest (pardon the pun) ....hand sanitizer station @ front door, the welcoming employees were all properly wearing masks and all safety precautions were taken, the store was sparkling clean and attractively laid out. Ricardo Serena, Brand Experience Associate, was super knowledgable and answered all my questions. He explained the differences in the available mattresses and offered advice based on sleep style, extremely helpful. I placed my order, and as Ricardo explained, the mattresses are custom sewn by hand in Fullerton, Ca, so roughly a 7-10 day time frame ...perfect! All the employees are well educated in the product and once you lay on an Avocado mattress all you need is a timer to wake you up from a nap. Ever since we bought our mattress, I don't wake up two or three times during the night. We sleep soundly and very comfy. Darn that alarm clock! When it was time to make a decision everything was explained in detail including delivery and their charge to take your old mattress and deliver the new in your home. Long over due, bought a queen size green organic hybrid & additional topper a couple years ago after trying out their floor models at the La Jolla store. To add, my order was being sent to my Vegas home, all went perfectly smooth and so quick. Customer service was top notch at the store and online!! The mattress is still in great shape and so comfortable. I get a restful night sleep and my lower back does not hurt as it did with my other mattress before Avocado. Victoria was amazing to work with! I do not have a store near me so I had to rely on the website and Victoria. She was so helpful! Very knowledgeable, professional, and patient. I asked a lot of questions and we had to adjust the invoice a few times before I finally made my decision. I am happy to say I received the waterproof mattress pad, toddler pillow and the meditation pillow. I am very impressed with the quality and the packaging. I am even more excited now to get my Avocado Green Mattress and the Organic Latex Topper! I will update my review at that time. I am still considering getting the Eco adjustable bed frame. 10-1-2020 Although Avocado's store in Santa Monica, CA is closer to our home, we elected to visit Avocado's new LaJolla store because the COVID situation seems materially better in SanDiego County than L.A. County. Now we are glad we did. Thanks and appreciation to Monica and Dana for successfully helping us today to purchase comfortable and appropriate bedding. Monica allowed us to test, and ask questions about, the mattresses that were of interest. She patiently explained the features and construction of each mattress, then allowed us time to deliberate in private; a thoughtful and no-pressure process. When a glitch arose in processing our order, both Monica and Dana methodically worked to identify and overcome the obstacle to completing our order (which apparently involved an Avocado software mechanism which double-checked our credit card against our old zipcode). Thankfully Dana and Monica discovered the problem. I had possibly the worst shopping experience here. I bought some sheets but since they don't stock in the store I had to have them delivered. When I got them the order was totally wrong. The sales person was duplicitous. Since I don't live very far I actually put them in my car and brought them back. I had to double park and they were totally unhelpful. They kept sending me emails even though I unsubscribed. And this week I still get at least one email a day saying that my product is back in stock. I tried to reach the company but you end up talking to a bot. I am really picky about quality of my sheets. They seem to have a product that appeals to me but without Customer Service it's worth nothing. read more

EDIT: The store canceled the original order and submitted a new one, which explains the refund email. I wasn't aware it was going to resubmitted on a separate order number so now that makes sense! They don't have a phone number but they do respond to emails incredibly quickly. Things are looking up! My first impression was great. I placed an order on 3/20 and Ricardo told me I'd be getting my mattress in about 5 weeks, due to Covid supply chain issues and also typical lead time in making a mattress of this quality. That's okay! 5 weeks later I hadn't heard anything so I headed back in the store to ask for an update, and spoke to Dana. There was an issue with my order, she apologized, and placed it at the front of the line so I didn't have to wait as long. I was super appreciative, a little flustered about the order mishap but no worries there either! This morning I got the email confirmation ... followed by a second email telling me my order was cancelled and fully refunded. Now I'm just confused. I don't live near La Jolla so I can't stop by again for an update, and they don't have a phone number listed anywhere! I sent an email and am now waiting.. I'll update this review when I hear back, I (still) have really high hopes for such an ethically-looking brand. I love their products and I'm just hoping this is another glitch on their end. I recently purchased a platform bed frame, mattress, pillows and sheets from Avocado on Girard. From high quality products to extremely help and friendly staff to their concern about our environment, I cannot say enough good things about Avocado and their products. They repurpose railroad ties for the bed frames. My frame is beautiful & doesn't look like it was once part of the rail system.
