I was denied solely because of my credit score even through I have flawless rental history, no evictions, no utility collections, no criminal background, and a sizable income that meets the 3 x the rental criteria. If your credit was impacted (like many) due to the pandemic do not apply here they will deny you based on a credit report alone. The manager Jasmine never even called to verify my rental history or employment which should be taken into consideration when screening an applicant to assess the tenants overall situation. There are much better apartment communities out there that will approve an applicant based on excellent rental history and stable employment, which ultimately should be the strongest deciding factors for leasing a property to a prospective tenant. Save the $275.00 it takes to apply, and go with an apartment community that understands the value of solid rental history/employment because a credit score alone is not enough to determine if a future tenant will pay their rent on time each and every month. The manager Jasmine never even bothered to ask why my credit score was on the low end, nor did she give me the opportunity to pay a higher deposit. Sad, considering many people like myself who once had excellent credit are still trying to recover from the aftermath of the pandemic! Toilet issue that management has been aware of for 6+ months has never been resolved. Take your money and live elsewhere, this place is a ripoff! I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. THIS PLACE IS FAR FROM LUXURY!!! My family and I could not wait to move out of that place. They played favorites when it came to pool rules, the maintenance guy, jerry, rigged everything that needed to be fixed, the on site "car wash" would've been better if they had a water hose and bucket rather than the junk that you had to pay for. They said that they had noise complaints on us, and then did not even apologize when I proved that we were not even in the state!!! Then, once I moved out, I had an agreement that they keep my security deposit in exchange to fix some minor issues, but then they have sent me to collections for more money. The issues that they are claiming are issues that were caused AFTER we moved out by their maintenance crew. NICKEL and DIME is their specialty... AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. read more

One star because I feel this apartment complex is safe! This place will nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING!!! You pay a $200 security deposit up front but forget about getting that back. I was sent to collections for a small amount of money with NO written communication from the apartment that I owed anything. Claiming a $90 "pet hair removal/cleaning" fee when I had no animals in the apartment. Also, they charged me over $200 for all new carpet...but on my pre-inspection sheet, they wrote on there that there were stains in my guest bedroom! (Not to mention that whenever someone moved out, they replaced the carpets in EVERY SINGLE apartment.) Their maintenance workers could be seen with huge rolls of carpet in their trucks right after move out day. Just a scam to get you to pay for their new carpet. I will be contacting the collections agency today and verifying the two legit charges I have on the account which only total $60 (broken blind and nail holes in wall). So sad that a nice apartment complex has to play dirty like this. Definitely will not recommend Avonlea Highlands to any friends or family. read more

This place is so clean outside, and they take care of their apartments. They have someone who goes around with a tweezer-like thing and picks up every piece of paper, and it's fantastic. The staff is always friendly and offering stuff all the time, super bowl party, free breakfast at the gate etc. Great place for us to retire and very happy. read more

Let me preface by saying you should think about the reviews before signing. My husband and I lived in this complex for 2 years and moved mainly because rent became much too high for us and were stuck with a decent bill. I read many reviews before we decided to move in and many of those stated the management will suck every penny they can...I thought for a bit and decided to take it with a grain of salt beacuse you never know the specific situation, I was wrong. The complex itself is nice and fairly clean and well maintained however because of this the staff would make a big deal about strange things, i.e. signs to keep your dogs off the grass. Where is my dog going to use the restroom? Several little things like this over the time we were there and it was annoying but not unbearable. To any pet lovers, be extremely careful. They will rush you through the lease signing but pay attention because we made the mistake...any pet deposit you pay for your pet(s) does not go toward any damages when you move. Let me repeat, pet deposits DO NOT go toward any damages when you move. We paid a total of $600 for 2 pets and not a penny went toward the move out. The manager stated it is simply for the "privilege" of having a pet. We love our animals but that stinks because we still had to cover the cost of having the carpet replaced (I believe this is required of them by law anyway). We took care of our apartment while we lived there but of course there is always wear and tear, just be very careful. All in all not a bad place to live just make sure you have plenty of money. read more
