Friends had recommended that I seek out CranioSacral Therapy after being in a car accident where I hit my head and suffered a mild concussion. I spent many days forgetting random things like meetings and birthday parties. I was having short term memory losses that were making me feel very uneasy and worried about the injury I had sustained. I had never experienced CST before so I wasn't sure what to expect. I walked in feeling very flustered on practically the verge of tears, carrying worries about my husband who was having a hard day himself, the everyday worries of my special needs child and worried for my best friend who had just lost her mother to brain cancer. I walked in not sure and not wanting to be touched at all. I was certainly tapped out in all sensory aspects. As the days have passed since my session I have struggled to find the right words to describe it. Hilary helped me to release energy and emotions that weren't benefiting me in any way. At one point I remember her words saying to me 'you need to release it, it's not doing you any good to worry about things beyond your control'... I could feel in that moment I had started to let some of that burden release. I thought of things that I don't even think about on a daily basis. Things far away to me seemed closer to my heart in a way. I was able to separate myself from the negative feelings and let in what my higher self was trying to share with me. It is certainly a spiritual healing as well as a physical release of stress. I have personally been to many spiritual retreats over the years and this was just so much more effective. There was such a release in just a short period of time where other times at retreats it takes days to get to a peaceful place within yourself. The feeling I had that day was a sort of 'intoxication'... I felt lighter, floated even, deeply relaxed for HOURS after. I also slept like a rock that evening. It was so healing to leave there free of what I had been carrying. The session definitely released whatever left over trauma I had that lingered from the accident as well as putting into perspective how much unnecessary stress I was burdening myself with. Words have escaped me on quite a few occasions when trying to explain this experience. It was nothing I had ever experienced before. It also certainly awakened me to future work I would like to continue with Hilary. I left the session completely drained of the negativity, falling helpless to my own peace. I needed grounding and decided to sit out in the sun to meditate for a little while outside of her office before driving home. I woke up the next day feeling like that accident never even happened. I woke up sharp and energized. A feeling I had missed since being in the accident and suffering short term memory losses. Our family absolutely loves Hilary!! She has given us a "new normal" better than we ever imagined possible. After going to her for a 6 year old with sensory issues who was unable to wear appropriate clothing to school, my 9 year old noticed the difference in his brother right away. He asked for his own session with Hilary and the improvement for our family just continues. Both boys were comfortable in Hilary's presence right away and it was obvious that they enjoyed the sessions as they were able to lie on the table the whole time and were reluctant for the session to be over!!
