This was my second visit with Dr Czyrny (pronounced "Churny" if you ever need an appointment). If…read moreyou've ever had a nerve conduction study, you're probably cringing at the thought of having to have TWO of them done. But hang with me. The first time I saw Dr. Czyrny was before I had a spinal fusion surgery. My orthopedic surgeon sent me here prior to cutting into me. I didn't know what to expect and really didn't do any homework ahead of time. My ortho told me that I'd feel some "tingling" and some "slight shocking" feelings, but that was it. It honestly didn't sound too bad. I've got a few tattoos, so needles don't exactly scare me. I wish I could tell you more about that initial appointment, but I really don't remember that much about it. It was in 2015. Nothing really stands out. After a car accident in 2017, my shoulder specialist sent me to see Dr. Czyrny for a nerve conduction study because I was complaining of some shoulder pain that sounded a lot like a torn rotator cuff. He did some X-rays, an MRI, and then felt the nerve conduction study was important. I knew I had been before, but had forgotten what kind of adventure I was in for, so I did some homework this time. Holy crap! To say this scared the pants off me is an understatement! I watched videos and read reviews that had me so scared that I was ready to call the whole thing off. However, the morning of my appointment, I found my biggest & brightest pair of big girl undies and went into that appointment expecting a horrifying experience, but knowing I'd live to tell about it. As I sat in the waiting room, a calm feeling came over me when I started to think logically. This nerve conduction study was something I had done before. This procedure didn't stand out in my mind in any way. It didn't stand out as being awful or as being incredibly painful. It didn't stand out as being anything. That made me realize that it probably wasn't going to be so bad. When my name was called and I went back to the procedure room, Dr. Czyrny eased my fears pretty instantly. He didn't necessarily recognize my face, but he did know my name and he knew he had done the study on me before. He asked me if I had any questions, and I told him I didn't really remember the first experience. He said, "Well, that means either it isn't as bad as people say it is or maybe I am actually skilled at this after all!" We both chuckled at his joke, and he had me sit on the table while he began with the needles. I felt literally almost nothing. Remember when you were a kid in the '70s and you'd shuffle your socked feet across the shag carpet? Then you'd go find your little brother and touch him, both of you screaming for just a second during that quick electric shock? No? Was that just me? Well, this was less than that. Dr. Czyrny really is skilled at what he does, and while he had to go up and down both arms, I had no problems sitting like a champ for the procedure. I didn't need my big girl undies after all. I could most definitely have done just fine with little girl undies. Certainly no need for granny panties! So if you're having a nerve conduction study and you're scared out of your wits, I'm not going to guarantee that the procedure won't hurt at all. But I will tell you that if you have that study done with Dr. Czyrny, it'll be a breeze! (Still, you should probably wear some underwear.)

He was given lortabs, Percocet , Vicodin , klonapin , fentanyl patches , because he had an accident BUT never took one . He relied on the neck injections and went to rehab PT and exercised daily . They literally handed out scripts like candy and one after another after another grabbed a prescription and bounced out. Kind of wonder about the lady that stunned her toe and got fentanyl patches and Percocet BUT hay ! Dr knows best ! Not sure I would recommend this place u less you need drugs !

Dr.Gosey basically gave me quality of life back. I have noticed that blame went to him when…read moresomeone abused their medication. I respected my medication, I appreciated it because it gave me the ability to care for many loved ones. Quality of life was returned following 3 failed surgeries and countless specialists. Dr. Gosey cared. He took a variety of approaches. My dosages were at a level I was in my right mind . Today pain management for most is abusive. Many are getting ripped off the only med that works anymore ( with drastic reductions in strength already). and pushed towards more surgery, etc. The pain scales means nothing. It seems funny to me that if patients abused their meds can go and blame the doctor. I lost a lot of loved ones due to alcoholism- they abused alcohol. Did anyone blame the alcohol makers? The stores that sell it? no. Another thing to question is it seems ( I am in a few pain sufferers groups) across America. Seems many states had their main pain management Doctors arrested. Then the attack on pain patients. While doctor Gosey was under attack- workers comp was already doing court cases to get patients off meds. This includes pain creams, pain patches and more. It all felt so orchestrated. Some blamed Gosey for their woes but who is considering the pain patients that ended their lives when pain relief was ripped away. I will forever be grateful to Dr. Gosey for allowing me to feel very little pain , so I could have quality of life. I'm being stripped of it now, there is zero compassion. My quality of life is low but that is not an issue for the pain management group. He will always be to me the doctor that listened, had compassion, and offered a variety of treatments including nerve blocks, pressure point injections, creams made up at pharmacy that helped with swelling, pain, lidocaine patches and more. All no longer ok- not ordered or allowed by comp. Dr. Gosey will always be my favorite doctor, because he cared.

The MD's I've seen are very professional & extraordinarily competent. Nothing but high praise for…read morethose folks I have knee issues from past injuries and was a candidate for total knee replacement (TKR). I went to UBMD Orthopedics Physical Therapy at the Maplemere location to see if I could strengthen the knee to prep for or possibly delay TKR surgery. The UBMD PT department is where I faced issues. At that time, it was difficult to walk stairs or even 50 yards. The young PT I was assigned plugged me into a "one size fits all" rehab program. It did not help that my PhD therapist was impersonal, distracted & inattentive, and his subordinates did most of my therapy that he designed. The exercise program I was given made my pain much worse, decreased my mobility and was generally detrimental even after 6 months of dedicated effort on my part. I was getting discouraged. My knee got so painful from the assigned UBMD PT, I developed fluid in the knee joint and required multiple cortisone shots. Out of necessity, I ditched about 2/3 of the exercises I was given and all of the weighted exercises from UBMD PT and pivoted to body weight squats, knee stretching, yoga, walking & banded leg work. I borrowed from my boxing and martial arts experience from many decades ago emphasizing rotational knee movements, feints, front to back and side to side stepping. My knee slowly responded to my own custom designed PT treatment, and today I can walk stairs without issue, walk a mile, have minimal to no knee pain, no fluid on the knee and have not required any cortisone shots since early in 2025 which was from the UBMD PT exercises. I also don't require TKR at this time. Another UBMD PT issue is their glacial response time to calls for appointments - 2 weeks plus in my experience. The final issue at the new UBMD ortho office on Maplemere is the parking lot design - it's a miserable set up. The long, wide grassy "berms" installed in the parking lot present a dangerous maze to ortho patients who can have issues just navigating flat pavement. UBMD ortho should add flat "walk throughs" in those berms.

I saw Dr Michael Freitas for a condition I've had for over a year. This review is specifically for…read morehim, because I was here last year to see another Doctor for another issue and that whole team was awesome. In a nutshell: my shin & ankle & foot (all on my left leg) feel like they're filling up with gas in the same way that your knuckles do when they feel like they need to be cracked. Except it had been getting worse, going from 'occasional' to 'every day, all day.' I'd take 20-30 steps and my whole left leg would sort of stiffen and it would be painful to walk unless I stopped and 'cracked' my shin, ankle, & foot. So I saw Dr Michael Freitas after being x-rayed. I showed him my walk and let him hear the cracking, and I had even printed out a diagram of the leg & foot and highlighted the areas that I was experiencing issues and pain. He said, very nicely, that "nothing was wrong" with me. Oh. So it's normal to have to stop ever 20-30 steps? Okay, then, cool? Also: how could he see and hear what I was talking about and *still* decide that nothing was wrong with me? And I am not a doctor, but the areas that I highlighted on the diagram are TENDONS, not bones. You CANNOT SEE TENDONS ON AN X-RAY, Dr. Freitas. You should listen to your patients, especially if they come in prepared. I *knew* the tendons would not have been visible on the x-ray, but instead of listening to me he decided the x-ray was 'proof' that I was a-okay. It has been a nearly a year since that appointment and my left leg is STILL doing this, every single day and night, all day and night. But, no worries! Dr. Freitas says this is normal!

She did not take a look at my medical history and off to see my problems and made her opinion based off her own thinking instead of real medical diagnosis. She refused to offer me an alternative when I asked her for one . All she could do is repeat other things that I couldn't do and if she had taken the time to read through my long and extensive medical history she would have known that instead she took the easy way out and just refused to help me. It needs to be brought to attention that she does not follow for people with disabilities, she does not deserve to have a license in my opinion because if you're going to be in the medical profession you have to take the time to go through each and everybody's chart everybody is different everybody's body is different and the way people go through medications and or things is different and if you were a real good medical professional you would know that which she does not or did not care to take the time enough to go through my chart. If you cannot do what you need to do as a medical professional for those people covered under the disability act especially you shouldn't be in the medical profession.
