You're not staying at the Ritz Carlton. Yes, the Sunburst Motel probably needs renovating since it was last decorated decades ago. Yes, there were cigarette burns in the bedding. However, it's clean for the most part, which can't be said about all of the motels in Seaside Heights. The bathroom was very nice. No, there isn't shampoo, body wash, or conditioner. Unfortunately, you'll have to stop by the local CVS and pick up a couple travel sized bottles. You'll survive. Some pros about our stay at Sunburst: There was a functional triple lock on the door. Definitely helps to know that we're safe. The beds were incredibly comfortable and warm despite the cigarette burn holes. That didn't really bother us too much. The bedding was clean. No bed bugs. We had a nice room with two beds, a kitchenette, TV, and refrigerator. The man who runs the front desk was very nice and helpful. I forgot to get his name but he was very friendly. It's very close to the middle of the boardwalk and beach. There was only one con about staying here. It's very loud and the walls are thin. We had noisy neighbors. Not really a fault of the motel but Seaside typically attracts the louder and younger crowd. Not a huge issue. There's also no daily maid service which doesn't bother us but I know that's a deal breaker for some. Overall, this is a comfortable, fairly clean, and safe place to stay in Seaside Heights. Again, don't come here if you're looking for a ritzy hotel. You'll definitely be disappointed. In fact, don't come to the Jersey Shore at all if you want to go somewhere classy. This isn't it. If you just want a comfortable and pleasant stay, this is a good option. Believe me, there are a lot of motels in the area that are in horrible condition and I would not feel safe staying at. Sunburst isn't one of them. It deserves the four stars. The Charlroy Motel is also another family friendly option in the area. More expensive and on the quieter side of town but worth the money. They were booked for the summer so Sunburst was our next option and they didn't disappoint!

Chain that had been there was broken off. Louvered blinds broken. Air conditioner dusty and dirty. No hooks in the bathroom to hang anything. Dirty carpet. Couch stained. Mattresses stained. I know it's the jersey shore and I am not super picky when it comes to hotels but I expected more for $900 for three nights. Will not be staying here again.

We did not utilize the pool or restaurant on property. But the pool was big and very clean. Lots of places to sit. Our room was a decent size. It was clean. We had extra towels. We even had our own private balcony which was really nice to use in the morning. We had plenty of hot water in the shower and the pressure was good. There was also a big fridge and nice size microwave. The location was GREAT! It was only a few blocks from the boardwalk and beach. And there were a lot of restaurants and stores within walking distance. I felt safe around the area, and I was okay exploring on my own. We could even see the firework show from our balcony which was a cool touch. The WiFi wasn't the best but we were also in the back building. But parking was super easy. There was just this feeling that it would be the same friend, it had been since i was last there. And it still is ! and still owned by the same family the Kosenski's. What a beautiful motel ! the room was spotless, As was the bathroom , that was sparkling , i kid you not. When was the last time you were a motel or hotel and the bathroom was like that. Even the shower/tub grout was white , and the ceiling was too, not a speck of mold anywhere . Shower had hot hot water and great pressure. The room updated of course since i was there And i knew because of superstorm sandy .. But the room still held that same familiar good Feeling. It was decorated as nice as it was 45 years ago. The beds were perfect and so comfortable. Oh the pillows i never had a pillow like them. Im telling you even the sheets and Blanket were so soft. And they were like brand new too. 2 huge dressers too. The beds were Made perfectly. Even the sink counter area outside the bathroom Was spotless , the fridge too ! clean it looked brand new ! and it worked great . And a funny thing is not a bit of sand anywhere . I told them i remember When a free continental breakfast was served doughnuts, pastries, crumb cake , oh my gosh the crumb cake , the best jelly and cream doughnuts too. This was all set up everyday . oh hot chocolate , coffee , tea , orange juice On the sundeck area. What in remember to is there were this plastic cup holders that you put a separate plastic funnel shaped cup in it. This all Came from the bakery next door called Kay's which the family owned. Walt told me about his dad who owned it and was the baker too. Tami told me about how she started working at the tradewinds as a teenager cleaning rooms , and that how she met her husband . We talked quite a bit , i said how do you take good care of the outside its got to be hard. You would not know it was built in 1970 , i love that they kept The same railings along the buildings floor and the same color too. It just makes the tradewinds so unique . even the grounds around are so clean , Tami was telling me about how much they have updated since 2022. And more to come Honestly i dont know what more they could do. It was so nice talking to them , i loved hearing How she cleaned rooms and met her husband there, is that cool or what. I hope i see them again When i go . they told me about the damage from super storm sandy , Tami has a nice write up on it and the history of How the tradewinds started. Its in the room in a nice Wood covered folder . Wow to come back 45 years later and you get the same feelings and the motel has that same loved look , you know its family owned. I realize Buoy 16 has a cancelation policy that charges a crazy percentage for a cancellation fee And we went in knowing that because we had no intention of cancelling. However, it is not like we just chose to cancel and go somewhere else- it was a death of a loved family member. Further we gave then ample notice of the cancellation and they will still most likely to be able to rent out the room. They are just callously profiting from a tragic event in our life.
