His price was a little lower than the others, and the guys who came to do the job were polite, friendly, efficient, and clean. They arrived a little earlier than promised, and the job was finished on time. They spoke mostly Spanish, but their English was good enough to communicate effectively about the job. I couldn't ask for a better experience getting new insulation installed in our attic.

The blown-in wall insulation caused only a few sheetrock nail pops - which is to be expected. Crew left the place cleaned up. Other contractors that I liked for the job but couldn't meet our schedule: Mr. Insulation of San Rafael and B&D Insulation of Santa Rosa. (B&D referred us to Verdin when he couldn't do the job in our time frame.) Thumbs down: these two apparently didn't want the work by bidding almost double what we paid: Attic Perfect of Richmond and Atticare of San Leandro My advice, get at least 3 bids - we got a range from $1,500 to $4,990. For insulation, make sure the contractor number ends in "C-2."

We initially agreed to have both the attic and the crawl space insulated. When I told Gabriel that the kitchen fan is currently venting into the attic, and that we need to find a roofer to make a hole to vent it outside, he offered to connect the fan to an existing fan, at no charge. We later changed our minds about the attic and decided to just have the crawl space insulated for the time being. But Gabriel insisted on fixing the kitchen vent anyway, even though his men no longer needed to climb in the attic at all. I protested, but he said he'd agreed to do it, so he will, still at no cost. I was flabbergasted by his generosity. The three young men who work for him were all sweet, polite, and arrived early, and left the place spotless, both inside and out. (As opposed to another company whose inspector left muddy footprints all over the beige carpet, even after I laid down some newspapers.) I can't recommend Gabriel and his company enough. He treats his customers as if we were family. Oh, and there's ALWAYS a nice secretary, Jesiemae, who answers the phone and books you an appointment on the spot. No annoying voicemail tags. I was initially impressed with what seemed like a thorough and well-considered estimate. It felt…read morelike the team really evaluated my attic and cooling needs. The addition of two QuietCool fans also seemed like a major plus, as I was already familiar with the product and expected it would significantly help with cooling. When it came to the insulation work, I was very pleased. The crew did an excellent job removing the old insulation and installing the new. They worked efficiently, protected my floors well, and ensured that no insulation debris entered the living areas. That part of the job was handled professionally. However, I was less impressed with the radiant barrier installation. This may partly be due to a misunderstanding on my end, as I expected a different type of material, but the end result did not meet my expectations. The biggest issue, unfortunately, was the installation of the fans. At best, it was very poorly executed. The fans are 16" units with 12" duct openings, yet they were installed directly against the gables, which severely restricts airflow. Proper installation should have included a box or shroud to help direct airflow effectively through the fans. Because of this poor airflow, the fans do not cool the attic--in fact, they appear to make things worse. I can actually watch the temperature on the thermostat increase when the fans are turned on. I reached out to my representative multiple times, but the response was disappointing. I was told they could not take the fans back, and when I asked why the attic temperature increases when they are running, I was told there was no explanation and nothing further could be done. As temperatures continue to rise, I'm left frustrated that I spent $1,200 on two fans that perform the opposite of what was promised, with no meaningful support or resolution offered. UPDATE: After posting my initial review, I was contacted by both the project manager and the owner. I reiterated the reasons for my frustration, explaining that my review reflected my honest impression of what I saw as a lack of clear communication and effective management of the project and customer expectations. The project manager apologized for the communication breakdown and asked if I would be open to giving them an opportunity to make things right. A technician was then sent out, and he took the time to fully understand the issue, carefully examine the installation, and make several adjustments to the original work. He believes these changes will help improve airflow in the attic. Since my attic has some unique characteristics, he also provided helpful suggestions for additional ways to improve cooling and airflow--something I feel should have been addressed during the initial planning stage of the project. Whether these changes will result in significant improvement remains to be seen; I'll have a better sense once the weather warms up. I do appreciate the follow-up and the willingness of the project manager to reach out and try to make things right, and I have updated my review accordingly. That said, I want to be clear that the increase in my rating is largely due to the technician and the time he invested in evaluating the full situation, as well as both implementing and proposing thoughtful solutions.

The service requested was up to my standards with them taking a couple days during each phases and displaying professionalism as they did their work. They were also helpful in providing a couple references for a local plumber and electrician that both knew their stuff and quoted me a fair price for the additional work that had to be done. I would highly recommend giving them a ring for your crawlspace needs and feel like I got the product I had purchased.

I sent a message a few minutes after 11 am to ask if they were still coming - didn't receive a reply until after 4 pm that they were "unavailable" today. They kept me waiting around for 3 hours when I could have been working. Didn't have the decency to call and let me know they weren't coming. I'm out 3 hours of my life and lost wages. Will not ever do business with this unprofessional company in the future and will recommend family and friends to steer clear.
