A lot of people tend to look down on B&M, placing it with the likes of Poundland and Poundstretcher, but I find that it usually has good novelty gifts, like glass bottles of Coke and Irn Bru, which my family enjoy. After trying the store in Meadowbank for these bottles, I was disappointed as they were out of stock. I then hopped on the number 30 bus out to here, and to my surprise they were in stock! At the reasonable price of £3.50 per box, I could not resist.
This building used to be home to a large Tesco, but then it closed a few years ago. B&M took over the space and seem to be doing a better job at it than Tesco were. My only complaint is the pedestrian access from the main retail park, which involves walking down the road to the A1 bridge and using several pedestrian crossings before walking down a muddy slope to the store car park. I mean, access is never easy at an out of town mall but an easier route would be nice!
At two storeys high, the store is packed full of novelty gifts and homewares, as well as having a large furniture department upstairs. I have never really had to queue for long at the tills and the staff are generally okay, but when you are working in a bargain store you won't really be the most cheerful person in the world!
I highly recommend stopping by here for a browse. You may not buy anything but it's always worth a hunt for a bargain! read more
