I used to pop into B&Q Everytime I needed something for a spot of DIY in the house, however this has changed as I've become more disheartened with the store and staff. Our most recent visit was because we needed to visit to pick up a Nest electonic thermostat as a courier had failed to deliver the item direct from Nest. Before attending B&Q we made sure that they had Nest in the store (after past visits where things were in stock but held on the top of the shelving, making it inaccessible during store hours). We were informed that it was in stock in row 22. On attending there was no sign of it at row 22, a quick look showed other thermostats on row 23, but no Nest !! (plenty of holders to put the Nest into). After tracking down staff and waiting a short while to get someone to attend they couldn't track it down either. A quick check on their systems indicated that they didn't have it in stock at all, another wasted trip and a waste of time we could have used to get the item from somewhere else (which is what we ultimately had to do). I have failed to have a good visit to this store in the last few years and it's put me off the B&Q brand altogether. read more

one of the better diy stores , bright and well signed, easy to find most things apart from a member of staff ,they seem to go into hiding when i enter store. prices can be a bit hit and miss sometimes ,tells you one price then its completely different at checkout, although to be fair it has been in my favour a few times, got 2 £50 quid kitchen worktops for £7 each one time as someone priced them incorrectly.has trade section as well and they sell a range of kitchen appliances to suit all pockets, have a range of radiator covers which are nice to look at but some are quite flimsy and wouldnt last if you have kids in house. seen some nice fireplaces too all at varied prices,all in all not a bad place to shop but as always you need to shop around to see who has the better deals on ,especially when it comes to paint read more
