It has been going for years, and has managed to hold on to its fine reputation for decent quality and value for money throughout that time. It IS rather tiny, however, so it's possible you could easily walk past and miss it - but once you've been there once for food, you'll be a complete convert. Basically, they do American fast food - mainly burgers. It's not healthy, and it's not complicated, but what they do they do very well. The belly-busting All American 1/2 pound burger with fries and a tub of blue cheese sauce seems to go down well with meat-eaters, while there's a generously proportioned veggie option for people like me who don't eat beef. They also do chicken and pizza, but to be honest if you go to Uncle Sam's it should be for a burger, because that's what they do best. Excellent value for money!

The restaurant is tiny and like other reviews have said it so easy to miss, so its beggars belief how such a small place can churn out such big and hearty portions of food. The price is ok but that is completely offset by taste of the food, as the juicy and flavourful chicken engulfs your taste buds. Of course chicken is not for everyone and they do have plenty of other dishes on the menu such as huge burgers (which have appeared to been given a real shout in other reviews) and pizza but honestly I personally think Uncle Sam's rules the roost!

But unlike some Chinese restaurants - its tastes fresh and they don't add MSG. They also have a Wok2Go express which is a nice little system where you pick you meal with 3 easy options. Come to think of it this may be the place where I developed my phobia of clowns! On the weekend its completely full of chavvy teen types so its not an ideal place to relax with your burger. The reality is that this small shop tucked quietly around the corner from Mermaid Quay offers the crispiest of batter and the best cooked chips you will find in this part of town. You may well find yourself queuing up outside the door for service but if that doesn't tell you something, when you get inside the door and see how well kept the food preparation areas are, and then you are greeted by the friendly staff who are clearly rushed off of their feet, you will notice that the prices are very reasonable. This is a locally owned store rather than a large franchise and the quality of the freshly cooked fish really shows the difference. If you're in the bay and want this kind of take away food then you should definitely make the 2 minute journey away from the bay to give them a try.

Having just moved in there a few years back, he was annoyed to find that everything in the city centre closed at about 7pm (this was before Tesco and Sainsbury's opened on St. Mary's Street). He needed an onion for cooking, and so tried the takeaways down the bottom. He asked two of the places for one and they told him they couldn't part with one.
