Terrific roadside fruits and veggies just a few miles out of Manteca (as you're driving towards Yosemite). BaBaBazaar is like a Farmers Market that's open every day of the week! Definitely a good stop and worthy of Five Stars, and WoW, new informative website @ https://NorCalBaBaBazaar.com

Cute roadside market with fresh produce, snacks, honey, and a bakery area. They even have a washroom here. We stopped by to pick up some corn and some fresh fruit. They have a pretty good variety and the prices are affordable for the quality and freshness.

They carry beautiful, locally grown produce, but they have so much more to offer. Our first great find here was their fresh and frozen fruit pies made by The Pie Company, a well-known, local business located in nearby Ripon. We are already big fans of this pie manufacturer because they supply their frozen pies to some of the larger Ace Hardware stores in our area, too. We live in So Cal, but we can pick up the exact same pies they make and sell here in Ripon/Manteca. We swear by them, especially the peach, apricot, and blackberry. They taste homemade and are piled full of naturally ripened fruit with very little sugar so the fresh fruit flavors shine through. While the crust is more thick than I usually prefer, I decided their crust is one of the better ones. Such a treat! Another find here was the wonderful array of flavored vinegars and honeys. The fig balsamic vinegar is amazing. So good, we returned the next day to bring a few more bottles home with us. There are several local brands to choose from. And then, check out the refrigerator section. If you see products from Long Ranch, this is a local pig ranch that has prize-worthy, thick cut, perfectly smoked bacon that has brought me to tears. Their bacon is heavenly. If I ever get a do-over, I would grab some of everything I see from this Ranch. Since we were on a road trip, we grabbed a few snacks. The sesame sticks, packaged under their own label, are so fresh and delicious. They have many other snack options that carry their label. Bet they are all really good. I am so impressed with the quality of the products they sell, I only wish I lived closer. I'd be a regular here.

For many years now we have enjoyed jams, jellies, chutneys, and pickled fruits from this delicious purveyor of all things fruit-y and sensational! We have always gotten the goods at the Saturday Berkeley farmers' market on Center Street where "the Jam Lady", as my sons call her, has a booth. Each week there is a line of all the jams for the week with tasting spoons and each week we never fail to try something new. My all-time, hands-down favorite has got to be the Rose Petal Jelly, followed closely by the Quince jelly...so perfumed, pale and romantic! I have made jam tarts, and oodles of swell toast breakfasts with this delicious & addictive stuff! My sons are very partial to the Strawberry Meyer Lemon jam, the Boysenberry, Blackberry, and the Lime Marmalade...what better way to celebrate these amazing flavors than with the revered PBJ?! My husband loves the Bergamot Marmalade and the bitter Seville Marmalade as well...Did I mention the Meyer Lemon Marmalade?? I use it for glazes on roasts, and we are known for sampling all sorts of flavors with cheese & crackers. Today we splurged and bought 2!! I got some Crab apple & Thyme which I plan to snack on with said crackers & Cheddar! The other indulgence that caught my eye today was the Plum Lavender Chutney which I will squirrel away for another day...perhaps alongside a roast pork loin, or perhaps with some Indian food. Who knows? All I know is that when it comes to jams & jellies, we live in an area with so many inspired & inspiring makers of these delights! If you can't get to the market on Saturday mornings, check out the website or the Ferry Building...these products are worth seeking out. They run anywhere from $8.00-$10.00 a jar. There are also pickles, Italian pickled fruit, and now some almond butter. We have never been disappointed with anything. Absolutely delicious!
