Katie is the real deal, the name of her company is a very good description of what she does. My daughter 11 month old and waking up four to five times a night. And taking long time to go down. Katie came to our house went through the program with us. She showed us how we should carry our baby and rock her before we put her down to sleep. My daughter now has a routine that helps her go to sleep fast and sleep through the night. There are still some occasions where she will wake up once or twice at the most. But 90% of the time it is smooth sailing. Thank you Katie for giving us our sleep back. My wife I thank you.

The fact that I am writing this review should be testament to Katie's powers because it shows that I actually have the time to write a review now that my 4 month old is napping! As a first time mom with a high needs baby/borderline colic, I was suffering from sleep deprivation and some post partum anxiety. I never had time My baby was high needs/borderline colic. She refused to sleep on her back, fought naps, never slept longer than 20 minutes for naps and cried for a long time when I put her in her crib. The only way I could find much needed sleep at night for both of us was to co-sleep with her while nursing. Not only was this a dangerous SIDS risk, this also meant my sleep was horrible. I would wake up every 30 minutes to an hour making sure she was still breathing and I would not roll on her. Getting up to go to the bathroom was so nerve racking so as not to wake her. My neck was stuck on the side she was nursing on that night. I didn't want to tell people that is how we slept for fear of judgment. While I managed like that for 3 months, I thought hey at least my daughter seems like she is sleeping through the night! I can get by like this... Then the 4 month regression hit her at 3.5 months. She was waking up any time between 2 am to 5 am, ready to play a while before I could nurse her back to sleep. It lasted 2 weeks and it was exhausting. Finally, Katie was recommended by my pediatrician. Katie never judged me for how I had to put my daughter to sleep all these days before. She promised that my daughter CAN sleep 12 hours through the night and take 3 to 4 naps a day. She said she will be able to sleep on her back in a crib on her own. She will be able to nap longer than 30 minutes at a time without me having to lay next to her or put her in a swing. She just needed her parents to teach her and help her get there. Katie's plan was comprehensive and I followed all of her suggestions. With her thoroughness and positive attitude it really felt like she was there for me (we did all of our consultation over the phone because of COVID) It was really difficult the first few days. But we stuck to it and every day there were small improvements. Katie encouraged us along the way with a check in phone call every day. I had my doubts that my little dragon could actually sleep without her mom next to her. I clearly didn't give her enough credit. Around a week into the training, my daughter started sleeping through the night without crying from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. She would actually fall asleep within 15 minutes of putting her down, and if she woke up in the middle of the night, she learned to put herself back to sleep without crying for help! The naps took a little longer, but it fell into place. She is now able to take 2 to 3 naps a day, all in her crib, and sometimes these naps would have to be CAPPED at 2 hours because SHE SLEEPS TOO WELL. My dragon is like a different baby now. She is so much happier with more sleep. Katie makes sure that you, as a parent, is informed and supported 100% as long as you are ready to do this. Sleep is so important. As we just finished her 2 week program, my baby and I are blessed with more quality and quantity of blissful sleep. I find myself with so much more time to myself too. Yesterday I actually sun bathed outside for an hour while my daughter napped. I got a little emotional and so grateful because I actually had time to be myself a little.

Review of baby classes:…read more What a welcoming, fun space, especially as a first time parent to an infant! Each staff member has been so warm and friendly, even when babies inevitably do their pterodactyl shrieks or start to get hungry/fussy towards the end of class. As someone who doesn't have family members or friends with babies, it was a great way to meet other parents and babies in around the same stage as my baby. Even though the babies in my class were in the 3-6 month range, it was so reassuring to see the diverse range of development and personalities, especially as the weeks went on. Every baby truly is a unique individual growing at their own pace! The location is in a building across the Ala Moana area Don Quijote. Parking isn't validated but it isn't too bad. People tend to zoom around the corners in the structure though and the turns are pretty tight so be extra careful when walking to/from your car, especially with baby! There is a bathroom outside of the office but on the same floor. When you get to the office, you take off your shoes and park your stroller by the door (sometimes get small kine traffic jam when class is done lol). You bring your own play mat or towel for baby to lay/play on during class (they have spares if you forget). The floor is somewhat padded. Each class starts off with introductions (sometimes there may be a new family who are making up a class from a different session). If you're late or if baby needs to eat (whether nursing or bottle) or take a break during class, you're completely supported! It's so wonderful that there's no pressure at all and everyone is so supportive. Again, as a first time mom, I feel like even leaving the house is anxiety-inducing and there can be so much judgement in other spaces. Sometimes I feel like the classes were just as helpful for me as they were for my baby in regards to helping my confidence as a new parent ‍ I should also note that it's not awkward if you're a single parent or if your partner has to work. Some parents showed up with just their baby. Some parents brought a friend or their own parent. All kinds of families are embraced! Sometimes we get to take a material home from class. For example, a month or so ago, we got to take home a shiny crinkly paper from class, which has since become one of my baby's favorite toys. He loves to watch it because it's shiny, listen to it because it's crinkly, and he squishes it with his fingers, arms, legs, and toes. He's since ripped it in two and I tried to buy what I thought was the same thing off Amazon but it's not as good as the one from TLD lol. They have lots of great ideas for DIY activities and tools, emphasizing that you don't need to buy expensive, "trendy" items to get great results for sensory play and motor skills! Even if you aren't able to attend a class, I still highly recommend following them on social media. They post such great tips and ideas, and they also occasionally host community events like family yoga, mom walks, and dad walks. I'm so, so grateful that our community has this precious resource available!

Particularly educators because school is frustrating. However, Sarah has touched him and has been able to reach my son. He was diagnosed late with ADHD and dyslexia. Sarah has helped his confidence and academic life grow. My son and I intermittently discuss his treatment plan to update it and because of his progress, I ask if he wants to stop tutoring. I always get a resounding NO! HE chooses to continue his sessions and because he chooses, he is engaged. Sarah offers flexible hours to fit my son's extracurricular schedule, alternative lesson techniques (Skype), and is easy to work with. (Of course, you need to be courteous and give her time to make adjustments.) An unexpected positive that has occurred from tutoring is that my relationship with my son has improved. With no educational experience, I was his homework buddy. We used to buck heads all the time. Now that Sarah has taken that off my plate and has educated me on the way my son learns, my son and I are able to spend less time fighting and more time on our relationship. Thank you Sarah and Embrace Family Learning!
