Despite having really specific criteria, we still wanted to have a fun night with a full dance floor and Bob did not disappoint - he played amazing oldies that everyone knew and loved. People were singing along and the dance floor was full the entire reception. Later in the night when people began requesting Taylor Swift and other newer artists he came and asked my husband and I if that was OK before he played it. He did a phenomenal job transitioning the party from oldies to contemporary and everyone loved it. I was told after providing a deposit that my event coordinator (Kate) would reach out to finalize plans early February. Mid February rolls around and I have not heard from Kate. I reached out via email only to find that Kate is no longer working with Nicole's. Our event was passed on to Margaret. No problem. Margaret and I arranged a call where I discussed our in laws are footing the bill and they LOVE food. So we wanted a lot and a large variety despite being a smaller wedding (50-75 people). Margaret spent the entire call talking me down and telling me I was ordering too much. She asked I look over the options again and downsize. I told her we would but we do still want a large variety. A day or two later I go to email Margaret our (still large but) downsized order...only to find an email from her waiting for me. Her email stated that Nicole's simply could not service us and it was a mistake for Kate to take us on originally. She went on to say that the only way it was feasible for them to serve our wedding is if we were willing to spend a minimum of $15,000 BEFORE TAXES AND FEES. So to recap we've had them booked since November. Between November and March they didn't think to tell us they couldn't serve us. And after talking me down Margaret comes back not 72 hours later to tell me we have to pay over $15 grand. BEFORE TAXES AND FEES. Margaret left us hanging and scrambling to find a caterer for one of the busiest wedding weekends of the year. And to add to the unprofessionalism after providing our home address for her to return our deposit via check...she sent it to the location of our wedding event instead. Do not work with these people and risk being put in the situation I'm in. They cannot be trusted to uphold their end of a bargain. Hell, they can't even be trusted to address an envelope.

What a phenomenal property located right in downtown Albany. It adjoins artsy Quackenbush Square…read more I had the pleasure of staying there for 12 days and did not want to leave. The rooms are commercial, the shower is perfect, and noise level is not low, it is non-existent. The hotel is always spotless as if it had been built the day before. The cleaning staff and housekeepers are efficient, kind, and professional. The breakfast in the morning is worth waking up for. Eggs, meats, potatoes, fruit, yogurt, breads, cereals, oatmeal, and coffee and tea are available each more. Those staff members are ultra-kind and fast. Drinking and dining at The Placery was wonderful. I had the turkey pesto sandwich on two occasions and it was perfect each time. The bartenders are kind and make great martinis. The fitness is clean with new equipment. Water and towels are also available. The security is excellent and a guest's room key allows access to the elevator, stairs, and outer doors in the late hours. As I night owl, I went out often in the wee hours and never had an issue or felt unsafe. Paid parking ($10 per day) is right next to the property and the Albany Parking app worked without issue. Only two issues: The front desk staff is efficient but the only one of them ever smiled. They often seem angry or annoyed or just plain anti-social. These people are the face of the Hyatt and should be kinder and far more welcoming. The only recycling bin is in the Fitness Center. I once brought two plastic bottles to breakfast, which I was going to bring downstairs to the bin, but a staff member picked them up and threw them right out in the regular trash. Highly recommended and I look forward to returning.

Honestly if I could give this place 100 stars I would. I am shocked at the other negative…read morereviews-but many were from a few years ago, so things may have improved. So the parking is slightly annoying but is a max of $10 in a 24 hr period, which is not that bad at all. I think anything past 10 hrs the max pay is $10 and you can come in and out within that time period without paying more. The parking lot is very close to the hotel--a 3 minute walk maybe (use the outdoor lot under the highway and not the indoor lot, as the outdoor is much cheaper, which I was advised by the front desk clerk. The hotel itself is immaculate and new--I did not see any garbage, discoloration or anything that looked like it was getting old. The front desk employee was extremely friendly and welcoming when I came in-my room was fantastic! The bed was comfortable, a large TV and even a couch in the room with a mini fridge. The shower was new and was clean and had great pressure. Every employee I came across (including those working in the breakfast area) were friendly and polite, with a smile on their face. The lobby is actually upstairs from where you park-but the signs are very clear when arriving how to get to the lobby (and you need to use a room key to get to other floors). They had fresh water with lemon and cucumber available in the lobby as well. The location is fabulous as well-walkable to many restaurants and bars in Albany--everything was close by or a very short drive. There is also a bar open in the evening which looked nice, but I did not utilize it during my stay. Finally-the included breakfast was THE BEST COMPLEMENTARY HOTEL BREAKFAST I HAVE HAD IN THE US. The breakfast area is warm and welcoming with various types of seating. The options were endless...cold cereal, oatmeal with toppings, eggs, sausage, pancakes or French toast, fresh fruit, yogurt and more. All the food was fresh and was constantly being refilled while I was in the breakfast area. I wish I could eat more, because there were so many good options, oh and coffee and tea as well as fresh orange and apple juice. I would 100 times over, stay at this Hyatt Place if I am back in the Albany area--for the cost, which was very fair--it was more than worth it. Finally-the weekend front desk employee was so kind and engaging, we had a long chat about his life and how he began working at the hotel and all his other life adventures.
