I had not been to a chiropractor before, in fact you could say I was ant chiro. I found myself with some unbearable back pain, after rest and much stubbornness, I dragged my pathetic self in. The front desk staff was kind, understanding of my fear, and helpful. I saw Dr. Shane, who I told I was terrified to be there, he sat down and explained everything and was very attentive when doing the adjustment. I went 3 times the first week and could suddenly function again (sit stand and walk). I went less frequently for a few more weeks, and I'm back to my activities! This place is top notch! I have been to several chiropractors in the area, but this is the first place where I've felt like I wasn't being rushed out the door after a quick adjustment. I can't recommend this place enough! I came in with awful back pain associated to post partum/ everyday mom life activity. Dr matt was able to pinpoint and figure out areas that needed attention and my back has felt a million times better now! It took about 4 sessions! But now I go for regular maintenance. Matt is a great doctor! He is very educated and it shows in the amount of knowledge he has about chiropractic care. I've seen two previous chiropractors consistently in other places I've lived and Matt and his practice is by far the best. Like all health-related things, consistency is key. You can't go in expecting one alignment will solve all your aches and pains. You need to come in regularly to relieve those stresses that accumulate over the course of the week (through sitting at a chair at work, or lifting weights at the gym, or running, etc). When I first started in December, I went to Matt three times a week for the first few weeks. He saw my progress and slowly reduced my frequency down to once every two weeks. I used to NEED to come in every other day. Now I'm good every other week...maybe needing to reschedule once in a while without a problem (meaning it might be three weeks between visits). Also, Matt offers chiropractic care tailored to golfers. I haven't looked into it yet since my golf game blows anyway, but once I do get more confident with my game, I'll definitely check out that program. Also, Kenya, Matt's front office person, is super nice. She's always willing to chat about your day and makes you feel at home. They take Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance so that's nice for me and my girlfriend. If you're having issues with your back (or golf game), go to Back to Wellness and stick to Matt's program. I definitely recommend Drs. Matt & Tanja Derry for any acute spine issues. I have suffered from chronic neck pain & headaches off & on for many years due to a pool accident. Matt was awesome in accessing what was wrong and explained fully to me why I continue to have periods of pain. With just a few visits, I was pain free, headaches gone & knew exactly what to do to maintain optimal health. I was sure I was going to need some sort of surgery for this relief but not now! He not only showed me my X-rays & explained them but also presented me the next day with a folder explaining each step of my treatment . I called and was in a lot of pain and Dr. Matt was able to get me in quickly. He did an x-ray first and helped me understand why my back hurt. Kathleen the receptionist is great as well, she knows everyone by name which was the reason we switched to Dr Matt from our previous chiro. I want to feel welcome and not have to go thru explanations every time I book, who my kids are, what our last name is...that was so annoying at our old place. Dr. Matt is the man! He gets it. He doesn't push 25 extra appointments just for the sake of doing so. Very personable. Makes sure you understand the mechanics of what he is doing.
