I would recommend absolutely NOTHING about this company! Little to no customer service. They will not return numerous calls in regards to services which have been paid in full, but not rendered. They waste customers' time by not showing up or calling on the date of scheduled installation. They install badly damaged building supplies (support beam), and they don't return phone calls to address concerns about the shoddy work. STAY AWAY...FAR, FAR AWAY...FROM THIS COMPANY! Absolutely horrible. We ordered a play set from BJ's which was to be installed by Backyard Buildings. They sent us confirmation of the date, but unfortunately we needed to switch the date. We then received another confirmation. On the day they were supposed to arrive they did not arrive. We called and they said they didn't have us scheduled!! I offered to send them the email confirmation and they said "they don't email confirmations". Eh what? They offered us another date which was 2 months later! I finally had to get in touch with management at BJs, where we ordered from. BJs was able to work with them to provide a date 2 weeks later. They did actually show up and put the swing set together. It was one person, and it took the entire day. (Would have taken my husband 30 years so this is good). While they did a good job in the end, it was a HUGE hassle with piss poor customer service! read more

Horrible Company! I had a 20/16 Aspen large building installed in July of 2019. In early November Shingles blew off the roof. Backyard buildings sent a man out to patch. He stated there was no roof felt under shingles. Hence the shingles did not seal because of the no felt. They said they would take care of problem in the spring. Shingles blew off three more times in the winter. The company refused to return any calls or emails. Stated they opened a case they gave me a phoney case number. I paid for the $200 shingle upgrade. Shoddy lazy unethical carpenters didn't put down felt! I had to pay a roofing contractor to put down a new roof. I paid 9.5K to Backyard Buildings! If I could give negative stars I would! I scheduled my shed installation on April 26th for July 9th, a 71 day waiting period. The builder never showed up to work and as of writing this, I still do not have a new date for installing my shed at my home. I had to call this morning to figure out why I had yet to be contacted by my installer. If I had not done so, I am not sure if I would have even heard from the company. It is ridiculous that I waited 71 days and then a builder did not show up. I did my part to make sure I was home and available for the install; as well as, making sure that all the permits were acquired. I would expect that the builder at least show up and if not then at least this company would notify me. I shouldn't be the one asking where is the individual for who is supposed to be doing the install. I would not recommend purchasing services from this company based on my experience. read more

I ordered a shed 3 months ago thru Home Depot and have yet to receive it. They have revised the delivery date 4 times. Now I find out the shed in town but they don't have a trailer to deliver it. I offered to pick it up but they said they have to deliver it. I'm fed up and am canceling the order as this company sucks and can't be trusted on their word. read more

Beware of this company! If you are looking for a company that is unreliable and cancel doing your time slot, than you have come to the right place. I ordered a playset and waited for it's arrival and set up only to hear that the appointment was cancelled 40 mins after the time slot given. That made appointment at there convenience without consulting with the customer who by the way paid almost $3,000 for it. So I went alone with the new date only for the appointment to be cancelled two hours after they was supposed to arrive. I'm still trying to get my money back....... read more

Poor customer service. They cancelled my order after almost a month without even telling me. I had to reach out to them to find out. Plus, they have yet to refund my money. I ordered a play set on May 1, and I contacted the company in late May to see when it would arrive. They told me, without even so much as an "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" that the order was cancelled. We paid over 2K for the set. We are not rich people. Just wanted a nice set for our son. Now we're set back a month in getting a set for him for the summer. Be wary. We ordered through their site called Swing set Liquidators. The prices seem low, but it's not worth the hassle and disappointment. read more

I'm a subcontractor of 20 yrs. who was enticed by a hiring ad for highly-skilled multiple trade independent installers. I built three 8X12 sheds. They expect one man to haul shed kit(3000lbs) to job within a 50-mile radius and install it in one day from the ground up for $200 flat labor. They charge five times that amount to the customer for the install and you do all the work! In my experience in a multiple tradecraft the subcontractor labor who's doing the work makes 50% or more depending on how many trades are required. read more

Yet another example of blatant incompetence. Our shed was ordered on August 21. It was scheduled to be delivered on October 18. October 18, today. No delivery. No phone call. When we contacted the company, they didn't have us on their schedule. Yup, the schedule THEY created. The schedule THEY CONFIRMED. Huh interesting. We received the confirmation email that THEY sent. Maybe they need to be confirming with themselves. Evidently the left hand doesn't even know the right hand exists never mind what it's doing. With incompetence like this I just want the shed canceled and our money - which they had no problem taking immediately and keeping for the last two and half MONTHS - refunded. Find another company to deal with. This company doesn't even deserve one star. read more

Worst company experience ever I bought my shed oct 22nd Home Depot took it out my account a month later to then be told they won't install my shed until Jan2nd 2019 few week ago I get a email stating they where pushing it back till Jan 23rd because a worker got injured I get things happen but you must have extra staff for when things like this happen then I speak to the lady in charge of my order and tell her I will call Home Depot and file a complaint and then she decide to give me a closer date of dec12 that sounded so great news to me a first call me dec 10 to remind me of the installation date I said yes that correct then again dec 11 I said yes I'll be there it's now dec 12 and at 8am they decide to call me to say they running behind schedule but someone will be out to my home today it's now past 4pm and not one call and not one person showed up with the shed to be install I miss a day of work for nothing worst customer service ever. Ordered a custom shed thru Heartland Sheds website on 8/20/19 - and PAID for the order in full. Backyard Building cheerfully took my $2650, immediately. Received a call three days later to set an installation date of 10/18/19. Haven't heard a peep from this company since. Today is 10/18 and not a soul in sight to perform an install. No new installation date either. Here we are, already 8 1/2 weeks after I PAID FOR a shed; call the company HQ and they can't reach the installer. But "they will send an email"... what good is an email??!! BUYER BEWARE!!!! We are headed into the Nebraska winter and how long do we wait for a big ticket item already paid for that hasn't yet materialized. Super Frustrating. And the HQ (in Michigan) won't give us the number/contact info of the "local installer" to work with them directly. All super secret, behind the scenes, you don't need to know. I asked them if I were to demand a refund, will they also be reimbursing me interest for the use of my money for the past 2 months... and they said, no they will not. If you are loaded to the rafters with patience, and don't mind working with a company a thousand miles away that doesn't appear to care about providing customer service or even trying to ensure you receive the product you paid for, then this is the company for you. I recently purchased a playground set from Lowes and had Backyard Building and More install it. Two guys showed up on time and got right to work. They were both super professional and very nice. After the set was completed they asked me to take a look and ensure I was happy with the placement and offered to move it if I was not. They cleaned everything up and left my yard looking great. They went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. When my daughter got home that day from school, she got the best surprise ever - we just love the play set and the install. We will definitely use these guys again! read more

There is no ZERO STARS, so one star should tell you something. On July 24th we paid full purchase price for a 12x16 shed with options $4,800.00. It was originally scheduled for build on September 6. We were then notified that they had "overbooked" installations and it would need to be rescheduled for September 12. On September 11, I called the local Tacoma Washington office at approximately 3PM and left a voicemail message to confirm everything was set for build the following day. NO ONE returned my call. A subsequent call was made to the toll free number AND an email was sent on September 12, also no response. At 9AM September 12 I called Tacoma and spoke with Amanda who said she couldn't look up the order because there was a computer problem that should be resolved in a few minutes. Requested she call to confirm build was going to happen. At 10AM I called her and was told the "contractor scheduled to build didn't show up so it wasn't going to happen today. I provided her with Wednesday September 13 or Friday September 15 as acceptable days that would not require me to take ANOTHER DAY off from work. She indicated she would call me back to confirm when it could be scheduled. At 2:30 PM I HAD TO CALL HER AGAIN! She then indicated that the only option for a one day build would be September 18th, otherwise it would be a THREE DAY JOB! So, it cost me $250.00 in wages since I had to take a day off from work. Because of my work commitments next week, my wife will have to take the day off from work. That's another $375.00 in lost wages. I have had to re-schedule the electrical contractor twice who needs to come in behind the shelter being built to move the temporary electric service that powers ALL farm outbuildings into the building purchased. This was the second building purchased the first one also had to be scheduled but only once. I suspect it will the last given the level of service we have received. Amanda indicated she would 'check into' some form of compensation for our inconveniences.... Even money says I will not get any kind of response from the company. read more
