This course should be renamed Goat Ranch Park! The tees were in bad condition, the fairways were in bad condition, the rough was nonexistent and mostly patches of grass and hard-pan, and the greens were ATROCIOUS. As you come up to the greens you'll be greeted with dead and diseased greens with spots of poana grass. The greens also have an uncanny resemblance to the surface of the moon. All in all, save your money and play literally anywhere else, they should be playing golfers to play this course. read more

My husband and I played golf here a long time ago and I wanted to wait and try it out again before giving them a review. Here are the positives: there are many very beautiful large live oaks along the course. There are nice water hazards that are lovely. And it's a long course to walk so you can get great exercise. And it's not far from downtown. But I don't think we will play here again. The greens are in rough shape. Lots of weeds and very hard ground. But your ball will roll forever and you can putt from anywhere. There is a bathroom sort of in the woods near the seventh hole I think. It looks so scary and it smells like sewage from like 300 yards away. When you play nine holes you are far away from the club house and have to walk back through the first five holes to get back to everything. There is a large parking lot. The driving range looked nice. Maybe we will give try that read more

If I could give it a half star I would. This is the worst course we have ever played. Fairways were horrible, greens were even worse. Where the rest of the courses around Savannah are turning green and more plush, this course is in dire need of water and maintenance. Would not recommend this course at ALL!! Especially for the money they charge. They should not even be open!!!! read more

This course is poorly maintained. Tee boxes are full of weeds. The fairways are also full of weeds. The greens are the worst. They are brown and the weeds definitely interfere with your putts. If you decide to golf there do yourself a favor and stay home. read more

A very reasonable municipal golf course in Savannah. $60 after noon for two people and a cart. The carts were brand new! The course itself is decent, nothing to write home about, but fairly well maintained. We had a nice day. read more

Been here a few times and the fairways aren't the worst in town but there was a good deal of bald spots on most fairways and green. There was also some pretty deep and muddy tire ruts across the middle of some fairways due to unclear cart paths. Most of the staff is pretty polite with the exception of the older, shorter gentleman. He definitely gave off a vibe that made me feel like I inconvenienced him by playing there. Gave a poor start for my round. I would definitely recommend Crosswinds by the airport. Much more pleasant experience for a very competitive price. read more

This review is based on 9 hole play 7/8/2015 With a few hours to kill during a business trip my co-worker and I found BPGC and called to ask about the conditions based on the lone previous review. We were told the truth. They had a nine whole course in ok shape ahd an 18 hole course which nine were under construction and not playable while another nine was in great shape. We found the back nine to be long with challenging hole placements, true greens, well tended fairways and powdery sand traps. The best traps I've ever hit out of. $23 to ride a non par 3 executive course, friendly staff, well stocked clubhouse including "Bug-Ban" spray lotion makes this course a great alternative on a budget or short on time. I will gladly return to play 18 when the renovations are finished. read more

Not sure what's going on here Lately the course is not being properly maintained. Weeds and crabgrass everywhere, grass not being properly cut and greens in less than acceptable conditions. Great for 9-hole, to kill time with family between sight seeing. Greens are more challenging with hills going in every direction, which by the fourth hole kind of becomes funny. No frills. Good carts, good course, lots of turtle watching! read more

A piece of American history well worth the stop! Reasonable prices, well maintained and well positioned T's that make every chip or layup a fun challenge. Grounds are maintained well and the staff was friendly. Used to be one of my favorite spots when I was in the Savannah area. read more

Played a round several weeks ago and had a great time. The course was as I always remembered it but in better shape. The Greens were great and rolled true, fairways were also in good condition, overall the course was better than what I lasted remembered. Was pleased to see that the new ownership has taken the time to bring the old gal back to her former glory. Would recommend this course to anyone and I am a former PGA Professional. Back nine of the course was very nice, however they are redoing the front nine. It would have been nice for the gentleman at the pro shop to have informed us that this was going on. The front nine was pretty much unplayable with construction going on all around you and the course all torn up. I asked when construction would be finished and they said sometime around November 2014. I would give it more stars, but only being able to play 9 holes when paying for 18 was not ideal. read more

This public course is way overpriced for the condition of the layout. It is in terrible shape...rock hard tees, greens, and fairways. Hardly any green grass in the fairways and they are mowed so short it's hard to get a decent lie anywhere. If pitch and run is your style when approaching greens you should have some luck. But don't count on a nice wedge shot holding these greens. They're shaped like an upside down tea cup. I usually play at the semi-private course off Largo and Windsor. It's in magnificent condition. I made the mistake of trying Bacon Park based on others' reviews. They must have gotten a free round for saying something nice. The place is horrendous. read more

He even hung the phone up on me...I was just trying to book a tee time man, no need to be an ahole... Had a fun time walking 9 holes before dark while in town for a conference. Very nice at the front desk. I signed up for the legends course and they gave me a map but I couldn't find it at first. So I played 1-2-3-5 on the main course, which was in great shape. Finally found #7 of the Legends so I back tracked a little and played in. Legends is a little rougher but I've played worse and the holes were interesting. read more

Local businesses man O. C. Welch has brilliantly restored and resurrected Bacon Park GC, a 1926 Donald Ross masterpiece. Like much of our fair city this course has interesting history. In fact, golfing great Bobby Jones played here. This fact alone is worth the price of admission.The course is beautiful with old trees and lovely low country geography. The greens have subtle slopes, the fairways have great roll(which is great when you hit the ball straight) and the bunkers are well maintained.The subtle design provides a game for all handicaps. My deepest respect goes to Mr. Welch who restored this municipal golf course with his own funds for all enjoy. Best of all, you can play this gem at very affordable prices. For example, I can walk 9 holes, over 60 yo rates, for $10. Don't pass up the pimiento cheese sandwiches on fresh white bread before you leave! read more
