My friends have been booking courts here weekly, and organizing drop ins. The courts and nets are nice with high ceilings, however I find it can get really busy and there isn't enough room between the courts. There are varying skill levels, so there's always the errant birdie flying into another court. It's a little pricey in my opinion as you have to bring your own birdies as well, but it's nice to drop in every once in a while. read more

Tried this place for the first time last week on Friday night. My friends were looking to book two court about three days before, and this is the only place that still have court available. Most likely cause it's very hard to reach using public transit. We arrived around 5 min before our booking time. The front staff asked for our proof of vaccination before letting us in. They have a lot of court, and it's very clean, but the floor is a bit slippery. The staff does not care whether you use dark coloured sole shoes; non marking is optional. There are rest bench for every court, labelled with the court number. We could play badminton match without wearing our mask. Washroom is very clean; a lot of amenities, there are two of changing room, two shower rooms, and lockers. Seems like you can buy necessary stuff t the front desk like racket, shuttlecock, shoes, and water, but minimum charge with card is $5. read more

Even though this place looks a little tacky, Badminton Vancouver is definitely one of the better places in town. Parking is actually a bit tight here (the lot isn't quite big enough), so hopefully it isn't completely full when you show up. There are 12 courts here in a 3 x 4 grid. I really like the funky coloured walls - I find it helpful for seeing the birdies when they're up in the air. The floors here are linoleum - not the world's best material, but most importantly, the surface is very flat and consistent. There are these giant black curtains in the air - I assume these are for sound deafening. Upstairs there is a small cafe that serves full dishes such as pasta and burgers, and they even have a liquor license. Prices looked quite reasonable, but I can't comment as I didn't eat here. There is also a foosball table up there. If you need a place to play, Badminton Vancouver is probably as good as it gets, for the value and location. read more

There's not much to do on a cold Wednesday night. If you're looking for a bit of social interaction and a bit of a workout try badminton. I've been playing for the last 6 months or so. I played many years ago, but it seems as though I am re living my younger days by taking up old sports and recreations. I've played in a few of these specialty badminton places and Vancouver Badminton is not too bad. It's an old converted warehouse. I think there are about 16 courts available to rent. It's about $20 an hour. We rented out an hour starting at 10 pm. People rarely rent courts after 11 so we kept playing (for free) till 1130ish. Overall, I like Vancouver Badminton. It's pretty central (not too deep in the heart of Richmond). Being on Mitchell Island is pretty convenient. People who live in Vancouver can access it easily and being right off the Knight Street bridge people who live further out can easily highway back home. The courts are well maintained. It seems as if they wash down the courts cuz they aren't slippery or sticky. There is a bar/grill upstairs. We did go up there a few times, but I guess we got kind of creeped out by the grimy nature of the place and never ordered any food there. Vancouver Badminton is my preferred badminton joint! read more

**3.5 stars** I've heard of late night bowling and even beach volleyball, but badminton until 1 am!?!? That's obviously the next logical step. I had never heard of this place but I was intrigued at the notion of smashing a shuttlecock (best name for a piece of sporting equipment btw) as an alternative to dropping cash at the bar on a Saturday night. The facility is located around the corner from Six Pack on Mitchell Island on the Richmond/Vancouver border. When you walk in, the decor is 'industrial chic". It has a new rubber badminton floor, nets, lines, and bleachers while retaining its warehouse roots. There is a small pro shop on the first floor and the second floor sports a bar and restaurant for those who need a break from the action. I can't speak to the food but I've heard it's ok. The gameplay itself is pretty relaxed compared to other badminton courts in Richmond. It's a great way for a bunch of friends to get together and play without feeling intimidated by all star shuttlecockers :)) Although the place closes up shop at 1 am, it gets pretty empty about 45 mins-1hr before closing. So if you have a big group reservation that goes until closing, the staff are pretty chill about you spilling onto other unused courts. The only reco I would have to make this have wider appeal is option to rent rackets and buy replacement shuttlecocks for those who aren't regular badminton'ers. read more

Came here to play drop in badminton with a few friends this evening. I have to say, the courts are clean compared to other courts I have played at in Markham/Scarborough. I am not sure how the drop in system works here, I just followed my friends. It seems like if there is an empty court you just play, there are no bell sound to signal any rotations or when you need to get off the court so that other drop ins can play too. I like how the conditions of the courts look new or they just keep it in good condition. However, they courts look like they are painted on verse the badminton court mats. So I found the court a bit slippery. However, that maybe due to the humidity inside the court, because I found it hot in there. The only thing I don't like is that the courts are very close to each other so there is no place to put a bench next to the court for your stuff or to sit in between games. Overall, really nice court and had a great time even though I twisted y ankle near the end of our time there. The staff there was nice and gave me pretty big bag of ice when D asked them for it. read more

Who would have thought badminton is such a great workout!!!! AND cheaper than the gym (although Im sure I looked a fool when they had me chasing the birdie around like that!) I went for a birthday party and (alcohol makes everything better... haha) They have beers and food upstairs in the lounge and they had these really good wings and the UFC fight was on so there's something for everyone althouh you'd be the real dummy if you didnt try your hand at smashing!!! Ask the guys at the front, they'll show you! (Id ask for them to be on your team rather than play against them!) Ladies, the bathroom is REALLY nice!!! Showers and all... and when you first walk in, it looks super professional - Felt like I was an Olympian badminton playerwhich of course I am NOT. (I did hear that they have known trainers though, and classes but I just go for a good time). I'd imagine its great for kids too but if you are a big kid like me, its the perfect way to switch up the usual rainy night routine at the movies. They open really late too! It cracks me up that a place like this exists! Mainly because I didn't know that badminton is such the rage. Well this place is pretty rad. It's clean and bright, but pretty damn hot after playing. You can book a court in advance for a higher price, or drop in and rotate as spots become available for a cheaper price. Is my understanding anyway. Check the website for yourself and don't quote me! They have a butt load of courts! There is a lounge, restaurant upstairs to grab foods after you have sweated yourself silly. For reals peeps, badminton is hard work! pretty impressed--not just nicer looking courts than BCIT, but there are slick ping pong tables in the very back. Plus the front 4 courts are for drop-ins beginners like me ;) $7 for all day seems like a good deal for exercise, plus $3.50 rentals. And decent-sized change rooms, about 20 full-size lockers ie. high school & 2 enclosed shower stalls. Pretty gym-like, modern decor, unlike a community centre lol. But what i'm impressed is the lounge upstairs, a good 10-seater sofa around a square coffee table, overlooking the action. And a foosball to boot ;) Lots of free parking here. read more

Badminton Vancouver is definitely one of the better venues in town. The staff are very friendly and do a great job making sure everything runs smoothly during peak hours. There is tons of parking space available and with 12 courts, you will be playing in no time. One thing I find unique about this place is that there is always someone with a similar skill level to play with. There is also a small pro shop upfront that sells badminton equipment and offers stringing services as well. This is super convenient especially if you happen to break a string while playing. Usually, I am able to get my racket finished by the time I leave. Overall, an immaculate experience and will be returning very soon! read more

I was visiting from San Francisco and wanted to play for 2 hours at night with my coworkers. This gym is on par and better than the gyms in SF! First the floors are immaculate, lightning is good, there are some blind spots, the players are not as friendly as SSF Bintang, but if you are persistent and a decent player, people will be willing to play with you. Best of all the front desk is super helpful. I would recommend anyone to play here. If you are visiting the front desk was willing to call a cab for me. read more

Wow what a great club to play at! It's really easy to find since its on an island and its the first building you see! I did started taking some coaching classes here with coach steph ko and she's been great! super friendly, patient and really willing to give great feedback to help my game. The bar upstairs also helps, especially when I'm just going here for some hang out time with friends. read more

If you are serious about badminton, come play here! Conditions inside are optimal. No bring lights, no fans or a/c to alter the high shots and clean squeaky courts. $7 to play as long as you want is an awesome price for a good sweat. I'm leaving this review, to make others aware of what is happening at this facility. First of all, I like the courts. Good footing, clear lines, high ceilings. Some of the courts have poor lighting and visual distractions, but most are pretty good. That's pretty much where the good ends. I find the bathrooms and showers are disgusting. Hair everywhere. Doesn't appear to be cleaned regularly. The biggest complaint is the greed that is happening with the management. They are selling the same courts twice and screwing over people who are paying drop in rates. For example, the last time I was there, I paid $7 to use four drop in courts. Minutes after they had my money, they sold two of the drop in courts and 30 people were forced onto only two courts. Their website does state that priority will be given to bookings, BUT, it neglects to mention that they will allow drop in customers to pay their money for what they think are four courts and then they will sell the same courts out from under the drop in people. Completely unethical behaviour and they are now risking losing a regular group of drop ins who have been coming for a year and a half. Screwing over your regular customers is no way to run a business. read more

BADMINTON Is a wonderful indoor sport but you can;t find many place to play . we group of people has playing this place for long periods of time . Place itself is terrible , Courts are Sticky never wash or Sweep, unclean wash room and shower . All blame goes to a men and a lady sitting in front desk collecting money . If management TAKE SOME ATTENTION AND GET REPLACE this people from front desk, place will be wonderful . Caution, the play area is badly constructed. Unstable. Bad bad lighting. I am not saying that they have to have lighting that needs to emulate day light, however, I've had better lighting at community gyms that are far less competitive. As an avid badminton player both socially and competitively in the Spring/Summer = not good at all for courts. read more

Overall this place can function as a badminton place. However that is all the good that can be said. The lighting is really poor. It is dim but somehow can obscure your vision of the birdie during a game. The courts are actually unsafe. There is barely enough room to even put your bags unlike Khas or Richmond Pro. To give an an idea on how much space there is. There are narrow benches placed between the courts. If you sit on it casually with your right leg over your left, a large portion of your right foot will be inside the court itself. Furthermore, there are beams that are ridiculously close to the courts which make it almost impossible to hit shots that are along the edge of the courts. If you are making hard attempts to get those edge shots you will either hit someone, something, or fall onto the very hard (almost wood-like) floor. Despite being a relatively small location, there is no A/C so you will be sweaty. It also becomes increasingly hot and stale due to the lack of air flow. The washrooms are quite clean, sanitized, and cooler than the playing area. There are lockers to put personal belongings which is neat but they are not large enough for badminton bags. This leads to guests leaving their bags in the playing area where there is already limited space. The courts in this place (which I think should be the most important) were clearly planned out for only maximizing the use of space and not the safety and satisfaction of the guests. If you are there to casually hit a birdie back and forth for fun then this is the perfect place due to its pricing. But if you are more serious about badminton and enjoy a good game where you give it your all, this place should be avoided. I previously said this place can function as a badminton place but I should also state that it barely passes for a badminton place. For a more informative score, I give Van. Just came back from a fantastic night out at Badminton Vancouver. We played friendly badminton games for a little over an hour. Loved the courts. The floor is amazing and it sure beats playing at my old community center. My friends and I moved upstairs to the mezz cafe for drinks and some small bites. I was happily surprised the food was good, and plentiful. Badminton. Vancouver was relatively easy to get to and was quite central as a couple of us came from Richmond and Vancouver west.
