We…read morepurchased a very lovely dog teddy for my now 7 year old's first birthday and in more recent years she has started collecting Mice, of which we have many and furniture too. There are 2 members of staff at asquiths as far as I am aware and I will start by saying one of them is absolutely lovely, friendly and helpful. However, on my most recent visit a few weeks ago, my 7 year old ran out of the shop in tears and we will never set foot in asquiths again. We came in to purchase a mouse. My daughter, unknowingly picked up a £200 bear. Something the lady won't have known is that my daughter is the most cautious child going. She is terrified of being in trouble and hates attention on her. That bear would have been very safe in her hands. The lady said "that is a very valuable bear please put it down" or something to that effect. I turned to see she was talking to my daughter. I then called my daughters name to get her attention, before I had an answer, the shop lady began calling my daughter over and over by name to tell her to put it down. To which my daughter thought she was in trouble and began to get upset. Whilst I was talking to her to calm her down I realised the lady was now taking mice out of my 2.5 year olds hands. (Now appreciate her being a little more wary of the toddler but it is a teddy bear shop and we have over 15 mice at home that have never been damaged.) The lady then turned back to my daughter and declared that the bear is £200. My 7 year old like most others will not have any idea what £200 is worth. She just saw a nice bear. Anyway my eldest got more and more upset and ran out of the store saying "I never want to come here again" My upset is not the fact that we were asked to put the bear down. My upset is that I am her mother and my daughters confidence is far more valuable than any bear. I was handling it just fine and took immediate offence to a stranger shouting my (very well behaved) child by name! I'd like to offer some feedback as I'm quite sure that my daughter is not the only child to pick up the teddy bears, perhaps it would be wise to place the valuable ones higher up. Perhaps in lockable cabinets. Just an idea. Or perhaps a sign that say's "This is not a childrens toy shop" although I think that would have significant impact on your business would it not? Perhaps treat your little customers with a little more respect. They're not all bad mannered or rough handed! I'll end this review by saying, if you're a grown adult with a love for teddy bears and a decent sized bank account (i'm sure there are a few of you out there) this is the place for you!

There are teddy bears everywhere of all shapes, sizes, and ethnicity. There are black bears brown bears marbled bears white bears bears with movable limbs bears with stiff limbs stiff bears soft bears asian bears rabbits bears with teeth bears with no teeth keychain bears bears too big for keychains bear sweaters bear yamakkas bear harley davidson jackets meerkats foxes regular bears AND EVERYTHING ELSE EVER. The prices are high but that's because these are the best bears in the world. These bears will never leave you. One thing to note, many of the bears have magnetized hands that then attach to their eyes as if they are scared. Walking through rows of scared bears makes you wonder if the owner becomes an evil witch and night and tortures bears for not being purchased. JUST A THEORY. BUY BEARS HERE NOW.

Service is good but the tills are a bit slow but they can be because your kids wont leave until you have got them something.

They always have plenty of stock, and lots of special offers. The Basingstoke branch doesn't have a toilet and baby changing facility, which is worth knowing as most branches have, but thats the only downside. Staff will go out of their way to help you. If what you want isn't on the shelves, they will go and check the warehouse: and last year when everywhere was sold out of pink DS Lites they weren't allowed to reserve stock for people but would call you as soon as the item came into stock.

Well, they've quite a lot (if you crane your neck to look up as well as down) and the prices are pretty competitive. If only it wasn't so bright, garish, there was an opportunity to rest your feet (the store's pretty big). Anyway, I still exited lighter of wallet, lighter of heart (got what I was looking for) and pleased that I, a father who has precious little time to go to real shops, managed to contribute to my little ones happiness.

The shop is always well stocked with a variety of childrens toys, including some you are unlikely to find in many supermarkets. Reasonably priced, this would be the ideal place to purchase a child's Christmas present. How the shop survives the rest of the year I do not know, but it always seems to be fairly bustling, so I suggest combining a visit with a trip to Waitrose or something. It's not worth heading in to town for a visit alone, but be sure to bear it in mind.

There were many photo opportunities and lots of demonstrations as well. The sales people worked for the store and there was no pressure at all. We were there a little under an hour and discovered many new items. Our kids really enjoyed the lego and Wicked themed areas. There is also a cotton candy machine where you can watch it being made through the glass, all automated. We somehow left without purchasing anything due to our inability to take it back home.

Loads of wooden toys and scientific games plus standbys like Elmer and Kidorable wellies/Macs. Kids can enjoy themselves here but buggies have to stay outside. Thankfully, as this is the Costwolds, it won't get nicked. Many toys are very inexpensive and with only about 45. I walked away with a huge haul of books, wooden toys, wellies and even plates and silverware.
