I came here for one month while I was in the Pittsburgh area, looking to purchase a few high pressure sessions to boost my color. Each time I came, I had a great experience! The owner was very up front with me the first time I went regarding which options would be the best deal given my limited time in the area. The bed itself was great, too - it sits up pretty high, so you have to climb in and out of it carefully, but it's comfortable and did give me a great base color tan. After having a skin cancer scare last year, I swore off tanning beds forever... I have always appreciated a nice glow to my skin, and unfortunately I am pretty pale naturally, so spray tans are the way to go for me. I found out about Bahama Breeze Tanning Salon via Groupon, where they are currently running a few great promotions. I opted for 5 spray tans for $29. I went yesterday for my first session and I love this place! It's less than a 10 minute drive from my house in the Southside, and the gal at the front desk (didn't get her name) was so sweet and helpful throughout the whole process. The salon is bright and clean, the latter of which is very important in my decision to return to such an establishment. The employee (maybe the owner?) helped me pick out a prepping lotion that would help prolong the life of my tan and then showed me the tanning booth. I was expecting to just be shown the room and to figure it out on my own based on the instructions on the wall, however she talked me through every single step of what to do, which I greatly appreciated. They provide a hair net, towel, and "barrier lotion" to help protect your hands/feet/elbows. The tan itself takes about 30 seconds (maybe less) which was amazing. I came out of the booth, dried off with a towel as instructed, got dressed and was on my way! The whole process took less than 10 minutes from check-in to when I left the parking lot. I have already made my next appointment, and am thrilled with how my skin is glowing today! I definitely recommend this salon and hope that the other, less thrilled, people who have left reviews give this place another shot! read more

I purchased the Groupon for Three Level 1 Mystic spray tans for $37 and some change. I went last night and the sign said that level one would increase your tan 1-2 shades. That's all I wanted. The girl behind the desk was super nice and friendly! The machines have come a long way since I last used one and the automated directions were given very clearly. There is also a sign that states to wait 5-8 hours after for the color to develop before showering or getting wet. Well it has been about 14 hours, I haven't showered and I am not even 1 level darker. I am going to have to go back today or tomorrow and hope that going again makes a difference. read more

I got a spray tan here this weekend and it was awesome. Sara did a custom spray tan (airbrush) and I can honestly say it was the best spray tan experience I've ever had. I was completely comfortable the whole time. The tan itself lasted about 5 minutes, then I spent about 15 drying in front of a fan. The color is the most beautiful color bronze. The smell was great (coconut) and it wasn't sticky at all. I slept in it all night and woke up to an even darker, more beautiful, bronze. I washed it off and the color is beautiful and has lasted well these last couple of days. Sara was so sweet and I will definitely be back. This is a great tanning salon. As someone who's never tanned, the customer service was superb. She explained everything very simply for a rookie like me and made great recommendations. The price is right! At first I was only going in for individual sessions, but now that I love this place, I'm gonna have to upgrade to some small packages. UPDATE In response to the business response... My referrals may still be customers so don't presume who I referred. Secondly, I purchased packages directly with you so you could avoid Groupon fees. Please don't mock customers that buy groupons or purchase advertised deals, or state that you lose money on them, it's just untrue. It makes no sense that you will lose money on people that want to use all of their purchased sessions (whether they use them in 3 days or 100 days the cost remains the same for you), that policy and attitude is just nonsense. Lastly, I offered to purchase another package (there were no promotions at the time), just to be able to reactivate the lost sessions. The facts are simple, I bought 12 seasons at a discount and was only able to use 6. Yes, they weren't all used within 90 days but the cost doesn't change by giving someone more time to use them. It was a ridiculous reason and your mocking tone towards me is just sad. At the very least please be truthful in your update, you weren't even there. I waited a while to review because I was hoping management would resolve my issue. Long story but I'll keep it brief. I purchased several spray tan packages for myself and for friends. 12 sessions total, we used 6 and were told that thee other 6 had expired. Apparently packages must be used within 3 months. I offered to buy more sessions if they wools reactivate the 6 unused sessions. They refused and said they would lose money. This wasn't logical, the sessions were already paid for and they could have sold additional sessions. They chose too loose a customer that not only purchased many packages, but a customer that referred a number of new clients to them. They just didn't care at all and simply let us walk out the door. Poor Customer Service! I had bought a package of spray tans in the spring. I made an appointment in May and when I showed up, the place was closed and no one was there. I waited and waited. I then called and left a message. No one ever called me back. I was angry so I did not go back for a few months. When I called to make a new appointment, I was told that my old package could be reactivated. I arrive at my new appointment 5 min late because of traffic and they let the girls that were 15 min and 30 min after my appointment go so I had to wait for 30 minutes to get my tan. Then I was told I had no tans on my account. The person working the desk called the owner who told her to just let me tan and said the owner would call me. That was over a month ago and I still have not heard from this owner. Needless to say, that is $60 wasted since I will not be going back. read more

This salon is extremely unorganized and clearly does not believe in the age old saying "the customer is always right." I purchased a package through living social. I called to schedule a spray tan days in advance for a 630 p.m. appointment. When I arrived promptly at 620 I was told I was "written down" for 6. I politely explained that I signed up for 630 and I could even show them it in my phone. The staff explained there is no way that they made the mistake and absolutely could not fit me in. I politely responded that spray tans take 10 minutes and they schedule in 30 minute increments. The staff's response was that they are booked and towels may be an issue. I got the tanning package on Groupon $29 for 2 weeks level 4. The level 4 is a stand up and I really don't like them so I was ok with going on the level 2 bed. I know the bed is working because when I get out I am red from my tingle lotion and I was even little burnt the one time but after 3 times I wasn't really getting color. I have never not got tan while tanning before. The last time I went I paid extra to go in the level 5 bed and I could see a difference. If I could do it all over again I wouldn't of went through Groupon and just got the normal package so I could go in the Level 3 bed because it has bronzing bulbs. And I'm assuming that's why I am not getting much color. The prices are pretty decent there, the customer service is great, the beds are always clean and they even supply goggles for you for free. read more

A Living Social deal, a vacation at the beach next month, and pasty white skin from working indoors full time brought me to Bahama Breeze. The staff members are friendly, beds are clean, and my skin started to look tanner within a few sessions. The Bahama Breeze staffers tend to assume that you want to go the full 20 minutes (in the base beds) right off the bat, which would have led me to being burnt to a crisp - so make sure to consider how your skin reacts to the sun and tell them you'd rather start at a lower time (I started with 11 minutes) and work up to 20. Love Bahama Breeze and the manager/co-owner, Sara! Very affordable, I first came in with a Groupon and happily keep coming. When I wasn't getting the results I wanted with a booth spray tan, Sara worked with me to optimize the booth tan. Before my wedding I wanted airbrush, and she helped me get the perfect look that way also. When I went for the airbrush two nights before my wedding and came home and got water on my leg (totally my fault plus maybe my kittens) she immediately went above and beyond in offering to fix it in time for my wedding! read more

Very disappointed. I bought a 5 for $29 Groupon and made an appointment. When I came in, they informed me that there were 3 options for the tan, Light, Medium, or Dark, but that only the Light came with the Groupon and medium or dark costs extra, which was not in the fine print. It didn't matter to me as I'm pale anyway and wanted just 'light'. The girl was very nice, but unfortunately the tan came out HORRIBLE. I had a mystic tan once before so I know the drill, my previous tan at a different location was fine. When I went into the booth, there were no little booties for your feet (some other locations provide these) and the floor was sopping wet for some reason (I almost slipped). When I came out of the booth and looked in the mirror, I thought someone put the wrong color in, it was SO DARK and there was SO MUCH running down all over my body. It was dripping down everywhere (my previous tan had some excess, but this looked like I just got out of a muddy shower). I toweled off immediately as instructed, but the drips were still visible. In addition to that, I had streaks on the front of my arms and legs, and my back looked about two shades darker than my front. I spray tan in underwear to get the lines, but this tan had so much liquid that it soaked THROUGH the underwear and messed up the line. When I got home (45 minutes later) my fiance just LAUGHED at me: he told me it looked like someone tried to detail my body with flames and racing stripes like you'd see on a car. I looked ridiculous, and immediately showered off. Luckily, it washed off. I wasted $29 and an hour of my time to look exactly like I did when I started out. read more

I would of considered buying a package after going for a first Mystic Tan, however, I was told that even though it was raining outside I couldn't reschedule my second Mystic Tan appointment to a different day. My suggestion to Bahama Breeze, if you are going to do Living Social deals, then obviously you want new and repeat customers. This isn't going to get you any! I bought the living social deal for spray tans. I signed up for an appointment for 4:30 on a Friday. When I arrived they said I was scheduled for 4:30 on Thursday. Luckily they were able to take me. I know that I wouldn't have agreed to that time based on my work schedule. It appears that I'm not the only one they messed up appointment times for and I wasn't crazy. I'm going back today. I hope that they got me scheduled correctly or I'll be extremely upset. I think I will call to confirm before making the trip :) read more
