Bahia was a convenient stop for picking up some frozen bait before a day of fishing. It's a full size bait and tackle shop, so you'll find just about everything you'd expect. Rods, reels, tackle, frozen and live bait, fishing gear, and plenty of other supplies. They also sell drinks inside, including beer, soda, and water. I even think I spotted a fountain drink machine. Parking was easy thanks to the large lot that's shared with their marina, tackle shop, and restaurant. The staff were friendly and especially helpful when we asked where we might have some luck fishing. They pointed us in the right direction and were happy to answer our questions. We picked up a pack of frozen squid and a pack of spearing for about $15 total. If you're staying in Ocean City and need bait, tackle, or a few supplies before heading out on the water, Bahia is an easy stop and a pleasant place to shop. read more

Colorful chairs and floating tiki bar boats caught my eye as we entered the marina for an early morning fishing trip (3 hours, $35 p/person) aboard the Tortuga. Parking was adequate. THE FISHING TRIP: My nephew-in-law arranged everything. I reluctantly agreed to go for the boat ride but wasn't interested in fishing. Pole rental was an additional $5 which was paid on-board. The small boat can accommodate about 40 people with limited covered seating. A restroom is available. About 30 of us set sail into the bay to fish for flounder. I had no idea how easy it was to fish for them as you simply drop your line into the water, no casting, at a guesstimated depth of about 15 feet as the weight hit the bay's floor almost instantly. I watched, in boredom, as the others baited their lines with a shiner and squid, dropped them in and waited. After a while one of the kids in our party gave up so I took over his line. And me being the one who didn't want to fish was the only one in our party to catch one, but it was too small to keep. The nephew-in-law ended up hooking a nasty-looking horseshoe crab. OMG, I've never seen something so bizarre in my life. It looked like a soldier's helmet with a tail sticking out of it and gruesome legs and creepy crawlies underneath. Some knew what it was but I had to Google it. Turns out they're not crabs but close kin of the spider family and are used in the medical field! About 75% of their blood is drained before they're put back in the water. The blood is then used to check the safety & sterility of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, prosthetics and other tools. Who knew? OVERALL: No one caught a flounder big enough to keep (minimum size was 18" I believe), but everyone had fun. They also had a voluntary $3.00 pool going for the largest-caught flounder with the winner taking all, no one won nor got their money back LOL. read more

Unique, fun and highly recommended! I booked the sandbar hopping Tiki Cruise for my husband and I for this past Tuesday. It was part of his birthday present and we both had an absolute blast. We ended up recruiting one of our friends to join us who was able to book separately but on the same reservation. The online booking system was simple and provided all of the details you needed to know about the reservation. The Tiki cruise was from 12-3 and conveniently leaves from Fish Tales. We arrived a few minutes early to eat lunch and grab some drinks/snacks from their store. The cruise is BYOB. The three of us brought beer and they have coolers and ice to keep your drinks cold. Although we didn't take advantage of this, even if you drink mixed drinks they will make them for you as long as you provide the ingredients. We had Captain Todd for our trip. He was awesome! He was super personable and fun and took excellent care of us the whole trip. He explained what was in the area and different options of where we could stop. He took us out to the sandbar where we were able to get out and hang in the water for a bit. He also made a pit stop at a local bar since my bladder was not cooperating. The Tiki cruises have only been around for a few years but it was our first time checking them out. My husband and I agreed that we will definitely be taking a Tiki trip every year since we had so much fun this time! We lucked out with good weather after a few crappy days. Our famliy took a 3/4 fishing charter on 6/16/2021. Let me start by saying that the crew (the mates) were attentive and courteous, and this trip certainly tested them. The day before there was a storm so that the waters the following day were very choppy. The numerous high waves made fishing difficult. The catches were few and tangled lines were the norm. Just standing at times was arduous. Almost half of the passengers were too seasick to participate in the fising part of the excursion. My husband was one of them and spent most of the trip sitting in the cabin. He witnessed one poor fellow being thrown to the deck of the cabin not once, but three times, by the waves. This type of adventure was new to us so we had no idea how the storm would affect the waters. Had we known we would have canceled the excursion and saved ourselves over $300. I feel that the charter company should have either warned us of the rocky experience we would have, or even canceled the trip in advance. I think it was unfair of them to do neither. read more

I'll give five stars for the charter. But the fishing grounds are strange. See below. We took an afternoon three hour tour on the Tortuga. Sun was beginning to set - so, we weren't beneath a sea of stars. First mate was cool and helped out my boy. We caught some croaker, a small sea bass and a couple of flounder, which feed from the bottom. Now, the weird. The OC bay and area near the marina is, apparently, Trump country. So many boats, yachts and houses near the marina had big Trump signs. Must've seen 20 of them. Just strange. Now, I'm a firm believer in the 1st Amendment but that was weird. Soon the Bay Bridge will be undergoing some repairs. So, next summer, we'll be looking elsewhere for our beach week (NJ maybe). Perhaps when I return to OC in 2021 the flags will be gone. read more

We bought our tickets at the pier for the 3 hour bay fishing trip starting at 4 in the afternoon. It was a beautiful day with a cool breeze blowing, and the sun shining. Our bait and fishing poles were ready to go and waiting for us! We hit numerous spots throughout the bay, not staying in one place for more than 10 mins. This also gave us time to look at the gorgeous homes that litter the bay. My grandson caught a pufferfish, flounder, and a seabass. You have a helper on board who takes your catch off the hook, untangles your line, etc. It cost $26 per person and for children it's $19. You can find coupons for $2 off for in season and $6 for off season. At the end of the trip a %10 to %15 gratuity is expected for the helper who works for tips. All in all it was great..didnt catch much but still a wonderful memory. read more

We went on the Tortuga for the 12-3pm bay fishing trip. We were a group of 10 (4 adults and 6 kids 8-12 years old) and we were able to stay together on the front of the boat. Austin and Serge took great care of us and showed the kids what to do. We had a blast everyone caught a flounders, some small crabs and we caught two keepers (flounders over the 16.5"). 3 total keepers on the boat. To our surprise the boat had a contest for the heaviest flounder which one of our kids won. We had one adult not fish and they enjoyed the scenic tour of the bay. We rented the (kinda cool) Hydrobikes for an hour this afternoon... Hubs, me, a teenage girl and a pre-teen boy. It started OK. He told us not to go past the sandbar, and slid is safely in the water. Then he asked my daughter to get a 2 person hydrobike that was floating away for him and bring it in. She tried, but couldn't figure out how to grab that bike while staying on hers - and honestly, I still don't know if that is possible - did he want her to get in? fall in trying? Eventually we left him to do his job (it was in a closed marina, so it wasn't going to go far) and we pedaled away. My 11 yr old son raced to the edge and proudly announced, "I'm at the limit!" He waited for the rest of us to catch up - my husband went to explore another area, and I was with my daughter (I had tried to help her with the request to get the floating away hydrobike). While my son waited on us, the tide slowly pulled him into the boat channel on the other side of the sand bar. Just like that we knew why we weren't supposed to be there, but weren't sure what to do about it. I raced out to try to help him... and also got stuck in the tide and before you knew it my daughter was there too! UGH. I really did not want to get out and walk in that water, but the alternative was my kids and I floating over to Assateague I think (with my son FREAKING OUT). So I jumped out - I was not wearing a bathing suit and was waist deep in the water. It took a lot of effort, but I did get both kids back to where they could pedal back into the marina, and then I followed suit. When we finally arrived back, the two guys that were working the dock, weren't. After my daughter got herself docked and pulled her bike up onto the pad where they keep them, and my son was trying to do the same (but my daughter didn't put hers in the right place so my son didn't have room... here we go again, the blind leading the blind), the employees showed back up. They kinda fussed about my daughter's parking job (Dude, if you had been here...), and then got my son up and then they lost interest liked kids with ADHD. Eventually they realized I was there waiting to come in, too. UGH. Not a great experience. The bikes are cool, but need to be somewhere that the water doesn't have sandbars upon which to get stuck, and without tides/currents that will pull you into a boat lane! read more

Took the 3 hour tour at 8-11 am. First of all this isn't really "deep" fishing the deepest We probably went was 15 feet. There was over 40 people on the boat and only 6-7 people got fish.. they only wanted us catching one type of fish and we weren't allowed to cast. The spots were not that good and we went to so many and no one got anything. Also like to complain that an employee was smoking a cigarette every time we moved so I had his smoke blowing in my face instead of the ocean water smell(: never coming back again! read more

We took our new boat along for our week long vacation to Ocean City, MD in July 2012. The condo we rented was supposed to include a boat slip, but we found out at check-in that it did not. We were already planning on using Bahia Marina's boat ramp to launch the boat anyhow, so I called them to see if they had any slips available for the week. The said they did have a slip available but only for a few days. It may have been a bit more expensive than other marinas, but it was in walking distance of our condo which made it VERY convenient, so we took the slip. When we arrived, Adam, the manager, took the time to show me exactly where the slip was and said he would see if he could find another slip available for the rest of the week. When we got there to launch the boat, one of the staff offered to come over and assist us (without us even asking)! He was very friendly and helpful. We launched the boat and the staff guy met us as the slip to help us tie it up. Very nice! When I went back to check on the other slip for the rest of our stay, I talked with Josh. Josh checked with Adam and he did find us an available slip for the rest of our stay. Josh walked me out to show me exactly where the new slip would be. When I went back Tuesday to pay for the new slip, Adam was not working but the lady helping me said I could move the boat awhile and check back with Adam the next day. I did so, and Adam offered me a very reasonable rate for the slip. We also talked to 2 other employees about boating and fishing in the bay (since this was our first time taking our own boat out in the bay...we had taken a fishing cruise on Bahia Marina's Tortuga boat last year and earlier this year which we enjoyed). The guys we talked to were very helpful with the info they gave us for navigating the channel down towards the inlet and fishing in the area. We also thought we needed to get one of our rods restrung with heavier line but Adam looked at the rod and said the line we had on was fine for the fishing we were going to do (no unnecessary "up-sells" here). We got some fishing supplies and were on our way. We also stopped and fueled up the boat there as well. The attendant was very friendly and helpful (this was our first time fueling this boat on the water). Gas was more expensive than at a regular gas station but it was non-ethanol gas (so no additive needed) and, again, was very convenient. I was VERY impressed with the service I received from all the employees at Bahia Marina and will definitely make them my first stop for boating and fishing whenever I'm in OC. read more

Took a ride on the Tortuga. I thought the price was great, and I liked that it was a 3 hour tour- not too short, not too long. Rented a rod for $5 (cash- on the boat) and it was very nice- looked brand new. The boat was spotless, and the crew was absolutely fantastic. I'd give the boat and crew 5 stars. My only complaint about the boat was the toilet- ladies, pee before you leave!! But, that's par for the course, and I expected as much. The reason I'm giving 3 stars is that the young man who sold us our ticket in the bait and tackle shop could not possibly have been more rude, condescending, or unhelpful. He did not answer our questions, he had an attitude, and he acted as though we were stupid. I'm not asking for the red carpet treatment, but I did not appreciate being made to feel as though I was a bother. read more
