Ask the Community - Baierl Family YMCA

Does the Baierl YMCA offer child watch while you work out? All I can find is info on daycare and before/after school.

Yes they do. You can just check in and drop off your child and you will be good They just do not change diapers.

I've been to the PF in Johnstown, PA and is almost triple the size of the moon township location with way more equipment, large cavernous segmented men's locker room area, has like 8 showers with each having their own private entries, yet the area is economically depressed and not a huge crowd that attends it other than the UPJ students as the PF crowd meter for the facility is mostly flatlined with a small blip on Saturday afternoons. Although Johnstown doesn't have a weird partial 24 hours M-Th schedule and they are open 5-10 M-F but have the same schedule on the weekends as Moon. I was sold and signed up when they were 24/7 but they got rid of it since and would rather get rid of the 24/7 altogether for a larger facility like the Johnstown one. I felt like the black card membership or any membership was perfectly justified using the Johnstown facility rather than the Moon township one, I would go to that facility gleefully if it weren't like 2 hours away. The moon township facility makes no damn sense whatsoever. What moon has I would expect to be in Johnstown and what is there I'd expect in a place like Moon for the amount of people served daily.

If you have ever contemplated getting a personal trainer or joining small group training classes…read morebut were intimidated by the gym atmosphere of big burly men grunting, slamming weights down, and testosterone flowing out the door, you have to give Elite Custom Fitness serious consideration. I never thought I would join a "hardcore" gym, I thought working out at home was fine for my needs, but in November 2019 a lingering eating disorder reared its head and I found my health declining rapidly (It turns out that a food pyramid consisting of Cake, Cookies, and Kit-Kats is not healthy). It was time for a more structured approach to improving my physical fitness and overall health. I had driven past ECF for years and finally decided to do some online research then set up an initial consultation with Tim. He was amazing from the beginning; he was empathetic to my situation and able to propose a complementary plan that worked with my GP and Therapist. I admit, it was intimidating starting out but Tim quickly puts you at ease, starts out slow, focuses on technique and educates you to complete each move with the correct form and putting a focus on safety. My intimidation was quickly diminished. Everyone that trains or works out there is incredible, it was totally not the "meat head" atmosphere I was dreading, it is just a great group of people that discovered what a gem ECF, way up there on the hill, is. It has been nearly a year since starting with Tim and team. I have lost 25 pounds, replaced fat with muscle, and I am probably stronger than I have ever been. I don't regret a single day of the past year, except maybe when I added a third day a week to my training schedule that is dedicated to arms and I could not lift my arms that first week for two days afterwards, but that was a fleeting shock to my arms and now I love "Mega Arm Mondays". The hardest thing I had to do was walk through the door that first day. I am sure you can take that step as well; you won't regret it.
