My Spring startup was subcontracted out. I'd thought the guy was over-tightening a PVC cap, but what do I know so I said nothing. It took us 5 days to realize that the noise we couldn't locate was the water gushing out of a cracked PVC cap; Yep, the same one. They did repair it the day after they were notified, but said that the cap breaking was not their fault and ignored the water lost. PVC caps don't just crack - my research discovered that overtightening threaded caps is the most common cause of cracks. A couple months later, I found that the same cap was leaking - how long it was like that I don't know. I shut the water off, notified DJ, and was told to contact the sub. I contacted the sub, but he never showed when scheduled, and neither DJ nor the sub has been reachable since. We've lost hundreds of $$$ in water bill costs over what they should have been. Maybe I'm wrong or I missed something, but DJs evidently refuses to communicate with us, so I don't know. Wouldn't they want to discuss it if they were confident that the problem wasn't one that they created? Seems to me a good business would want to address it - one way or whether it was their fault or not; either make good or explain why they are not at fault - DJs did nothing. Because I had turned the water off (again) after we found the 2nd leak - I used the sprinkler system exactly ONCE this year, and have kept it off to stop losing water - but now my lawn now looks like . . . . .
