The day I contacted John I felt that life as I knew it had ended. John met with me 1 hour after my first call to him and we spoke for about an hour and half. Upon completion of this meeting I was no longer scared. I left his office in near tears knowing exactly what my options were and exactly what he could and could not do in handling this legal matter. Never once did John make any guarantees and never once did he make me feel as if I was just another FEE. He proposed what his strategy would be in each option and when we were close to completion of this meeting he told me up front what all costs would be in regards to fees and fines from the courts to what his fee would be. I walked out the door knowing what this would cost me now, in a few weeks and a few months. That brings us to 1/18/19 where John spoke to Prosecutor again who now took some time to review the case and come to the conclusion the case was weak for the original charges and agreed to lower all charges to an acceptable level. The point of me writing this is we all have that opinion about an Attorneys and yes we know many of them just want a fee and could care less where you end up. John Leunig met with me, told me what he could and could not do, told me what it would cost and went and fought for me with his experience and education and advised me regularly what the status was and if I had a question he would promptly return my call and keep me at ease throughout the case. My experience with Ryan has been awful to say the least. He failed to report prosecutorial…read moremisconduct to the courts/judge (prosecutor lied and made false statements) he told me the prosecutor is allowed to do so and that it was perfectly legal. He failed to go over the discovery with me. I was instructed to go over it for myself at his office computer. I had no idea what I was doing and expressed how dissatisfied I was with the process. Instead of going over the discovery with me he just kept telling me he saw the discovery/ evidence and that it had so much evidence against me. But yet he still would not take the time to go over the discovery with me. Then comes the sentencing aspect of my case. I got an email from him 2 weeks before my sentencing saying that we should meet to get ready for sentencing. He said he couldn't meet in person that it had to be a phone call meeting. So I called him and he started telling me that he submitted a sentencing memorandum already! He did not talk to me about it, he did not consult with me and it was already in the books! In the weeks/months leading up to sentencing he never explained what a sentencing memorandum was nor how important they can be to a persons case/sentencing. He also did not tell me there was a deadline on when it was due. He told me several months prior that he would send me a template to get character letters ready for the judge. I did not receive that template or any instructions until after my memorandum was already submitted (without my approval). Not only was my memorandum inefficient but it had a false statement that he put on the memorandum. He had zero supporting documents and left out extremely important facts and medical records from my memorandum. After expressing how dissatisfied I was with his memorandum and his legal work in general he sent me an email claiming that he requested my medical records several times over the course of several months, and that I never had them sent to him, which was untrue. I indeed did have my medical records sent to him several months prior! 8 months to be exact! I advise anyone who needs serious legal counsel to consider my experience before hiring Ryan and his legal team.
