This guy is amazing and I can't say enough about what an outstanding job he did…read more My wife and I redid our kitchen over the summer. From cabinets, counters and appliances, we renovated just about everything we could see. The floor was question for us at the start. The tiles were neutral and not in terrible shape. But there were several chipped tiles, a few broken ones, and a few that needed to be replaced because of exposed flooring in the new layout. Our grout was also broken in some spots. I did, however, have a box of 16 original tiles that the previous installer left 15 years ago. The cost to remove a tile floor is as much, if not more, than to have new tile installed fresh. We talked to a few people about our options and we got many referrals to Hard Surface Solutions. I talked to him in he phone a bit about our project and he came over a few days later. He gave me a price and showed me pictures of his previous project. The price was very reasonable. The pictures, before and after, were very impressive. So we hired him and he agreed to start about 3 week later. First he cleaned my tiles with some high pressure steam clean machine. He cleaned the tiles like they were out of the box. In fact I could not believe when I saw the first few tiles. They made my existing tiles look so dingy. After that he worked on the tiles. He replaced several with the box I gave him. Then he fixed some cracks and chips on tiles that were still my existing floor. After that he worked on our grout. He changed our dark, discolored gray grout and make it dull white like my wife had requested. The grout came out perfect and it is very consistent along the entire floor. The whole floor looks new. It took 2 days. He finished the grout with some epoxy that is water proof, easy to clean and lasts for many years. I have the floor for 6 months now so I can not comment about the longevity, but my 15 year old, beaten floor looks new again and it is the perfect complement to my new kitchen

He did not rush us into a final decision and we really appreciated that. Since we had seen pictures and videos of the flooring being done in other garages, and because the tech was so great, we decided to go ahead with it. He told us they were booking 8 weeks out and that someone would call us to schedule an appointment. We gave him a hefty deposit. Weeks passed and we did not hear from anyone to schedule, so we called. We did not feel it was good business practice to take our deposit and not call within a few days to schedule. We made our appointment. The day came when our garage floor was to be done. We had moved everything from our garage into our living room the night before. The installers came and tested the floor for moisture and said they could not install and would try again the following day. This was very frustrating because no one told us that moisture could delay the installation and we had a living room full of items from our garage. They came back several times before they were finally able to install, and every time was last minute, no appointment made. Good thing my wife works from home. How do they expect people to be available at a moments notice? During the weeks we waited, we went back and forth about whether to cancel and decided the whole ordeal was so annoying and decided to cancel. I emailed the company to tell them this. The owner called me and refused to give us our deposit back, claiming materials had already been purchased and it's in the contract that deposits are non-refundable. I argued that he was the owner and could refund our deposit if he wanted to and that the color we picked was very common so I believe they could have used it on someone else. I also argued that no one explained about the moisture and this should be made very clear to anyone considering having this process done. He wouldn't budge. We had to either lose the 1k+ deposit and not get the floor done or deal with this frustrating booking experience and shell out another 2k to have it done. We decided to go ahead. Finally the garage was complete. A few days later we got a call from someone to arrange for a payment to be made. I explained to her that the job wasn't even done yet! (We had also scheduled our front steps to be done but of course they were too wet!) She had no idea the job wasn't complete and told us she would call back when it was. Finally the day came to do the steps (again after several attempts at checking moisture levels). A couple weeks passed and I got a voicemail, "I have been trying to call you to arrange a payment." She didn't say her name, or what company she was calling from! And she hadn't called/left a measage before that. So rude and unprofessional. We made the payment and are done with this company. If you want a very frustrating experience and want to deal with rude, unprofessional people, this is for you. Otherwise, run the other way! The floor is nice but every time I look at it I'm reminded of the jerks we had to deal with to get it installed.
