Our only regret was that we didn't take the tour on the very first day we were in München. Ozzie did a wonderful job of taking us to places of interest, explaining the history and context of each location, and teaching us how to immerse ourselves into Bavarian culture. I've always known my ancestors were from Germany, but after taking Ozzie's tour I knew more specifically that they came from Bavaria. Back to Ozzie though, you can tell he loves his city and he loves Bavaria. You can't help but fall in love with his outlook on life and his city in the process. If I find out anyone is going to München, I will insist that their first activity is to call Ozzie and take a tour because it will make the rest of their trip that much more enjoyable.

My wife and I started a 39 day European trip in Munich. Day 1 was a castle tour to Schloss…read moreNeuschwanstein and sister castle. We met our group tour (through Viatour), a short walk from the hotel and began the journey here. The ride over was a history trip learning all about the idea, turning into the dream. Here is a small piece from Google: " Neuschwanstein was built for the Bavarian king Ludwig II (1845 - 1886); it was begun in 1868 but never fully completed. The king saw his castle as a monument to the culture and concept of monarchy prevailing in the Middle Ages, which he greatly admired and wanted to recreate." He grew up across the way in the "yellow castle." His vision was amazing. I was a little surprised to read the 2 and 3 star reviews. Everything about this tour went well. Our guide took us through the castle and we visited about six rooms. He explained everything and happily took questions. I was happy that this castle lasted through the war and if you see the movie; "The Monuments Men," they show all the stolen artwork that they found here. I was told that it was approximately 8,000 boxes. I walked up, which was a little long and some people take a horse and carriage up then walk the rest of the way. We wound up taking that horse and carriage ride down. We also stopped for a sausage and beer at one point before getting back on the bus. All in all... an amazing experience. KUDOs to the team at Schloss Neuschwanstein.

The castle is beautiful and you can go to a high bridge. The tour guide was a little robotic, but nice enough. The tour is about thirty minutes and the views are spectacular. A few castles are nearby to look at as well. Check out Mary's Bridge. It was WAY high up but with nice and high railing, I am afraid of heights but I wasn't bothered. Lots of people on it though.

There is a huge tower there and the museum. We entered and it is an awesome museum, lots of cool cars and even a BMW that Elvis owned. I loved the motorcycles and they even talked about their involvement in WW2. I didn't know they did jetboats, but....They made them. They even had a Mr. Bean type car on display. The walkthrough takes about an hour and a half and definitely worth a visit.

The museum traces BMW from its earliest days through aircraft engines, motorcycles ,and decades of road cars. Admission runs about €10 for adults, and the free BMW Welt showroom across the street is worth adding to your visit if you've already come this far. They enforce a strict bag size policy at entry, so if you're carrying a larger purse or bag you may be asked to check it in a locker. It's a little annoying if you're not expecting it, though the lockers are free at least. Also, the layout routes you through exhibits in essentially one direction with limited space in some areas, so if it's busy, bottlenecks happen. The aircraft engine hall is a genuine highlight but is designed as a dead-end corridor with entry and exit on the same end, which means doubling back through whatever crowd has built up behind you.
