    Steak & fries
    Rachel P.

Come for the food, stay for the vibes. I love this spot in Guelph - with two floors and different patio areas to sit each visit feels like a new experience. On this occasion I ordered the steak and duck fat fries. Not the best steak and fries I've had - I would order something different next time. The sauces were underwhelming and the steak was very chewy. On food I would give 3 stars but because I love the vibe so much I've bumped my rating to 4.

I have zero complaints I had a wonderful time here from the service to the food they have a set menu but they also have a lot of features that are posted around the restaurant that you can try it I was a lot more interested in the features then the menu so most of but I tried were features Items tasted where the beer battered brie the goat cheese beignet and short rib beignets as well as the Kenichi fries and the muscles The cheese was so good so rich and the batter around it was light and tasty not too oily the short ribs was so tender it melted in your mouth the white wine sauce for the mussels was delicious the kamichi fries the portion was huge but tasty

Great place. Their fish and chips are the bomb. Highly recommend. They have lots on their menu though, but time and again I keep getting their halibut fish and chips with my wife!

    Short rib poutine

I was in Guelph for a couple of hours and wanted to eat poutine. I found this place through yelp and when I saw that they serve short rib poutine, I wanted to check out this pub. The poutine was quality. No sodium aftertaste. I didn't feel like I had to drink a gallon of water after. The cheese was melted perfectly and the gravy was the right amount that the dish didn't look like a stew. The fries were frites like cut and was not over soggy from the gravy. The short rib was soft and tender. I thought it was a small portion with the stone bowl but I was definitely full after.

Not a bad place for a bite, however we did have a few issues. For starters, we came on a Saturday night at around 8pm and the place was pretty packed, it was a group of 6 so we had to split up into pairs in order to get seated for tables (otherwise it would have been another hour wait). We eventually were able to have 4 of us at the same table but the other two of our party were split up for the rest of our dinner stay. If you plan on coming as a group of 5+ on a Friday/Saturday night, make sure you make reservations before hand as this place can get busy. This was fine as we didn't mind splitting up. The problem was with the wait on the food, we ended up waiting for over 45 minutes before our entrees came and were told that this was due to switching to having four of us at the same table..this shouldn't have been a problem as our orders had already been made before that happened. The food itself was decent, I ordered the salmon poke bowl (almost like a de constructed sushi roll) which was a pretty large portion of food for $15 before tax and tips. Food wasn't bad and maybe we went on an off night, but the wait for the food to be served left a bad taste.

Friday night, getting off a hectic 12 hr shift in the ER and heading on a surprise drive to Guelph! We Yelped a restauran to eat at and found this amazing, cozy location placed on a quiet street. It looks like an old character home that was renovated into a two story pub. The main floor has the bar with TVs playing the game and the local men hanging out with the bros having a few beers and chatting up the bartender like an episode of Cheers! We found a two person table along the wall and gazed among the walls at the chalkboards displaying the day's Feature meals, drinks, desserts and our favorite board "Grazing" for the tapas menu. A line was drawn through Potato Skin Nachos, mmm too bad. Places like this are small and run out of their top sellers fast. So we decided on three tapas: - Tempura Onion Rings :large portion of large onion rings presented on a cheese board, with real parmasean shavings spinkled over top. On the side, a little dipping bowl of creamy garlic sauce. YUM! - Rarebit:Had no idea what we were ordering I thought is was some kind of rare steak bits but to my surprise it was a form of glorious, Welsh cheesy bread. "Welsh Rabbit" some call it, is a dish of savory cheesy fondu with other ingredients poured over toasted bread! It's delish! Please try it! - Forgive me but I can't remember the name but they were deep fried breaded steak bites of some sort. They were tender and deliciously dipped in a jus that tingled the tastebuds. We washed everything down with, his fav pick, a traditonally made real Olde Fashioned and my pick, one of the special Pear Cider Slushies! So refreshing and not too sweet! I really like the small town pub atmosphere perfect for a night out with the girls or guys or for a date with that special someone. Highly recommended! :)

This place is great. I got a meatball sub, and it was great. The Welsh rarebit was awesome!!! And the ketchup was freaking amazing! Lol they make their ketchup from scratch and it is the best ketchup I've ever had. I'd drive there just for the ketchup. Lol if your in Guelph it's definitely a place you should eat at.

Great selection of Ontario craft beer

We had lunch here on an early Monday afternoon. It must be a fairly quiet day for lunch as only the upstairs portion was open. And had very prompt and extremely friendly service from our waitress slash bartender. My husband was impressed with all of the local Ontario craft Brewers that they had on tap which was about 20. While their menu was not expensive it certainly had a wide variety to it. My husband had ramen noodles with duck and soy eggs in it that he devoured and was full for the rest of the day. I had one of the appetizers which was tuna poke nachos which were delicious and had just the right edge of spiciness to them. That along with a refreshing glass of Ontario Riesling made for a great lunch. I thought they are a little on the high side price-wise for lunch especially as compared to their next door neighbor the Wooly Pub. Plenty of Vegan/ vegetarian options for a small menu.

Food is tasty but portion size is ridiculous for the price. Same goes for drinks - so expensive for the smallest drinks ever.

I stopped in for a bite, after reading a review complimenting that patio was suitable for spring and autumn...so why not winter. We called in and asked if their patio was open, then learned we could reserve spots. It was-9C with wind chill and some sun. They were accomodating to slot us in for 2.30-3.30pm and even when we were slightly late they honoured and held our reservation. We ordered the wings at $15 for 7 pieces and the swet potato fries for $12 (plsteful). The wings were well fried and generously coated with honey garlic, we were asked if we wanted it on the side or all over. The wings were served with two sticks of celery and one carrot and a blue cheese dip. The sweet potato fries were skinny and fried with a light coating that was extra crispy and served with an aioli sauce. The location has menus on the wall and QR code. The heaters near the menu on the ceiling was on but the ones facing the opposite direction was on. A bit drafty, I would recommend sitting closer to the covered patio side. The location has some comfy blankets to use, but not much is done to sanitize customer to customer so we enjoyed our own jacket. The restaurant recommended to bring some blankets but we were on the go and didny have any. The parking lot has spots, but I would presume most customers would be drinking and responsibly walking or riding taxi.

Give me a break, there was beer involved and 315 is WAY more fingers and toes than I have! FGB is built out in an old garage. Not a lot of seating inside and a woefully small bar but it does have a nice patio area out back. It was pretty much empty when I arrived with only two customers. No one was at the bar and I ended up standing around for about five minutes while the brewer and another guy were getting stuff done. I was just about to walk out when one realized the server had left to pick up food for the other customers. No hard feeling as these things happen but they should pay more attention. More than enough said. I ordered a flight of four, out of the six they had on tap. The cherry sour had a very nice cherry aroma and flavor but to overly sour. SWPFTD might disagree though as she doesn't care for sours. The Dutch blonde ale was up next. Very light with a hint of a bready flavor at the end. Breakaway IPA was a light aroma and bitterness IPA with a little haze to it. Easy drinking as far as I'm concerned. Last up was Stone Hammer dark ale, which had a malty flavor but a little harshness on the finish. This was not hops but I didn't love this one. FGB seems like a cool little local hangout. A few more folks came in but it was surprisingly empty for a Friday at 5:30. I was in-town on a Monday and I know it's lockdown, but many good restaurants/bakeries were also closed. So aside from grocery stores + their breweries, there wasn't much to see in the City! Girl who was working was quite friendly and explained their 10 options they had for sale. I picked up a few cans. I was told that there are 3 different Fixed Gear locations: this one in the Junction has a taproom, the one on Alma does NOT have a taproom, and they recently opened up their "Canteen" which has a pizza oven. It was a busy place when I walked in and fortunately has food as I needed some badly. They have a lot of beers and a few ciders on tap, I counted 17 today. I went with a flight of four, which felt very restrictive and not very inclusive. The Berserker raspberry lemon sour was up first. This had a very light color and good flavor to it. The flavors worked together very well. The Luminance DIPA was recommended by the charming young lady next to me at the bar. I hadn't chosen a fourth beer and told the beer tender I'd take his choice in the matter. He went with the luminance. And I'm glad he did. Nice flavor throughout. Solid beer here! The Absolute Elsewhere maibock was a good example of the style. Fairly light and easy to drink overall. Last, maybe, was the smoked honey brown ale. I ordered this since SWPFTD loves browns and reds.
