Great camping trip. just returned from vacationing with family at Shady Oaks Camping Resort in…read morePlattsburgh NY. The resort is under new ownership and the owner Jon has a vision for what camping should be. He and the staff are very friendly and accommodating The sites are large and private with plenty of trees. One night they had a food truck on site with great pizza. They even had a retro movie set up under the stars and a community fire pit. The staff let us know more improvements are coming as well. It was a beautiful drive up through the Adirondacks to get there. The resort is only about a mile from the beach on Lake Champlain and about four miles from the ferry to Vermont. We really enjoyed ourselves and look forward to returning again soon.

Spent a quiet few days here last week. We were in the front field by the office with no one else…read morearound so it was quiet. The owner/manager was nice and helped me back into my site and that was the last time we saw him. No one bothered us and we just did our thing. They had stable power, good water and sewer access so everything we needed. The only reason I gave 4 stars is the site was not level side to side. Had to use the leveler ramps on the passenger side of the trailer for only the 2nd or 3rd time in 5 years of doing this. Otherwise a perfectly fine place to stay and a reasonable nightly rate. We'll call again if we return to the Plattsburgh area.

Buck Pond in the northern Adirondacks is one of the nicest campsites I've seen along the east…read morecoast. Actually beats some on the west coast too for camping snobs out there. The sites are nicely spaced so that you're not bumping up against an RV rave. As with any campground, some sites are significantly nicer than others. We were in site 84, pretty damn sweet with its own little trail to the lake. Not gonna divulge what we scouted as THE best which you need to reserve 9 months in advance FYI. Schedule that with your French Laundry resies. They also had boat rentals and a map of the many waterways to explore. Highly suggest the rope swing if you come across it on Rainbow Lake. The ranger/campground manager Bob is just generally awesome. He fueled our little firelet into a great big burner. Smoky the Bear, watch out! Bob also has a ski store in Jay, NY and is a part time maple syrup maker should anyone fancy a winter excursion to the Adirondacks.

I was…read morehere on the off season so I seemed to be the only camper; only a few seaonals were otherwise in the park. Just don't expect any fancy amenities. The pool has been filled in with dirt and the playground is ancient. There is some sort of shuffleboard court, a laundry room, and a game room that I didn't see. The bathroom is clean with hot showers, though you have to pull on a string to keep the water running. Very inconvenient though it keeps folks from wasting water. Overall no complaints. I'm glad I found the place, frugal camper that I am.

Beautiful, extremely clean, very comfortable, and close to the Santa Village as well as other sight seeing places such as Lake George, Lake Placid, and of course White Face Mountain. The view of White Face Mountain out your window was amazing! I can not say enough about the comfort of this home and the friendly owners, Jeremy and Cassandra. They gave us privacy but were just a phone call away if needed. We had a fantastic weekend and would highly recommend this house.
