Category winner, Steak and Cheese, is the pie I ordered, at $4.00 it is a little beauty. The pastry is delicately flakey and perfectly crisp, the filling is perfectly flavoured and balanced. Well deserving of its Gold accolade. There is a whole range of other pie flavours like bacon and egg, potato top, chicken, mince etc and you can bet they would also taste delicious. You can order main meals from the blackboard menu if you prefer non counter fare. Their range of sweet cakes and treats looked fabulous, in all a great place to grab a bite. If you are not on the run, then relax in the restaurant as they have plenty of seating and it is clean and modern.

They have a large selection of your traditional sweets you would find in a bakery, the likes of lolly cake and custard squares, also homemade pies and fresh filled roles and sandwiches. We ended up getting the chicken avocado filled roles. You can't really go past a good old chicken and avo role. This meal was enjoyable and I would go back if I needed something quick and easy when in the area. However as mentioned above, this is your standard bakery. I personally didn't think there was anything unique that stood them apart from other bakeries.

However, that's just a minor detail- this is an excellent local bakery. They do tasty ham and cheese pizza buns that are always a must when I go there and their lamingtons are quality. Their pies are the icing on top though. I don't have pies often but if i do this is one place I'd try and get to. Whether its mince and cheese (my favourite) or bacon and egg, the pastry is always great and the filling is even better! Their pies run out fast during weekdays so expect disappointment if you're heading there in the afternoon! The bread they do here is well-priced and they do your usual french sticks and bread loaves. The family that runs this place is always friendly and its always good to see smiling faces when picking up a sweet snack or a quick breakfast bite here.

Although I am a traditionalist, preferring my choc brownies with nuts usually, this one was pretty bloody good. It was fresh (always a good start!), crunchy on the outside and gooey soft-fudge-like in the middle. It was a pretty decent size too; I have a sweet toot but still had to stop half way and give myself a break before continuing! They are up and running early, before the crack of dawn in fact, so all of their filled rolls are fresh as daily as are the sandwiches in the counter drawers. Pie connoisseurs won't be disappointed because there is a big range here and new is their vegetarian pie. They have really good bakery bread buns and the usual bread loaves. Sweet tooths will be well satisfied in this bakery because they have the brownies, the lamingtons, the cream cakes, my family were a little bit spoilt when I got home. The bread buns didn't get too hard or tough next morning, or even the morning thereafter when I made them into rolls for school lunches.

The flavours aren't particularly amazing, so they don't stand out so much, but the food here is enjoyable and made fresh (I believe). With gorgeous pink and lime green outdoor furniture outside, it was a shame it was blocked by a massive bus shelter. Inside was a cute little café that had lots of amazing looking cakes. Large cakes, medium cakes, cupcakes and mini cupcakes. They also had a selection of savoury items, also Allpress coffee on offer. On the back wall they had a large selection of items to purchase such as cake decorations, pre-made coloured fondant icing, cupcake holders, also coffee beans for sale. Here I purchased a carrot cupcake and a mini humming bird cupcake! Both of them were divine! I was very pleased with my choices. I was also swaying towards the rocky road cupcake as that looked yummy, so ill certainly have to go back. As I was paying for the cupcakes I also noticed they did catering. Perfect if you have a party or corporate function coming up. There is street parking in this area that all appeared to be free. Alternatively you could park in Royal Oak mall just across the road.

It's like a grown up's lolly store. Specialising in slices, cupcakes and fancy cakes, everything is pink pink pink and looks absolutely delicious. The Cake Stall also offer catering for special occasions and provide savoury food as well as their delectable sweet treats. The only slight negative that can be said about the Cake Stall is that there isn't a huge range of gluten free options available. Beautifully packaged bundles of biscuits and cakes are available to take away, or alternatively you can stop and enjoy a sweet treat and coffee on the premises. There is an outdoor area at the front of the store, though to be honest it's not the nicest place to sit being out on the street, so grab a beautiful decadent cake and head to Cornwall Park and enjoy it there!
