They offer a couple of tours daily at the mountain summit. Overall, not a bad summit considering that it's New England. I'm accustomed to 14rs where I live. Park is clean. People heavy depending upon what time of day and year you visit. I visited on 4th of July weekend. It wasn't as people heavy as expected. The drive up from the main roadway is really nice. Beautiful area! I would visit this park for another opportunity if I'm ever in the area again.

Def worth going a little out of your way for. Couple of things: -No swimming signs are posted-I've head people still do it. -There is a port-o-let in the parking lot-didn't use and not sure if it's unlocked/clean but if your coming for more than 1/2 hour may be smart to bring some t.p. -There are a few picnic tables by the falls-but if it's crowded then your prob going to need a picnic blanket. -The road that gets you to the park is rutted in places so go slow and don't drive in the ruts. If you have a super low car because your one of those types then skip this as you will prob bottom out. -Bring a trash bag and take your stuff (and anything you find) out.

The parking area itself is quite large, with access to the Appalachian trail as well as an alternate trail. In one direction, the trail goes into the woods. Snow is very soft and powdery. It seems people snowshoe here 3 miles, but not further. We snowshoe 6 miles, so was breaking trail a lot. It was scenic and nice.

The space is small but offers a variety of options to hang out and enjoy their wines and ciders - inside by the fireplace, outside on the screen porch, or outdoors on the patio. I was visiting my folks at their place in the Berkshires over the weekend and when looking for a place to explore, came across Clapp Park on the map. Upon driving in, I was greeted by a massive free parking lot (score!). I immediately noticed how clean the space is, with very well-kept athletic fields (basketball, baseball, etc), as well as multiple picnics spots. To the right of the parking lot, I noticed a couple of trail openings and decided to mozy on through. It led to the train tracks, which I believe is for the Amtrak train, though could be wrong. I followed the tracks and had a very nice walk filled with interesting plants, trees, streams and plenty of birds above. Also, Clapp Park apparently has one of the biggest sledding hills in the area, which is great to know for the next time I'm back later this winter!

This is a great state campsite in Rensselaer County in the Taborton Mountain area. iIt's a Windee…read moreride up the mountain to find it but there's something for everyone here-hiking trails, boating, swimming, picnicking beach for swimming,basketball and a modern playground for 2-5year olds. It's a carry in carry out facility-they do sell ice but there's nothing close as far as stores so bring everything you need. The campsites are mainly shaded areas but they come with fireplaces in picnic tables I don't believe RVs are allowed. Six dollars a day to park if you're just using the day facilities.

Cherry Plains is a little gem of a state park. It encompasses 175 of forest, pond and trails. The…read morepark has a sand beach, picnic pavilion, hiking trails and 20 campsites. 10 of the campsites are drive in sites appropriate for both tents and small campers, the other 10 sites are walk in tent only sites. The park is surrounded by 4,153 acres of wildlife management area. The black river pond is small but pleasant for paddling, with rowboat pedal boat rentals at the park. It's so much quieter than the other state parks in our area, and just beautiful.
